Thanks for highlighting this derby again! The leather article used on this pair is Vegano calf from Tannerie d'Annonay. Relative to the A1-AM you had previously, it has a more robust handle, definitely firmer and supple to the touch. It will age nicely with wear and time. The outsole is a standard waist type with a slight bevelling a the waist and edge. Hope to see a long term review on this! Cheers, CNES Shoemaker

Great review. Interesting, the creasing looks almost the same as my split toe derby from Hephaestus which had a little heavier creasing on the vamp and in two separate lines like yours. The Hephaestus pair is crust leather though. Glad these are nicer leather than the Adelaide pair you had. I let my CNES Adelaide go as well...the fit was never right for me.

Yes. I think it was 4 or 5.

In my experience, these new makers have the skills but just dont have access to the leather quality or range as per the "West". Many are now facing both supply and price issues in an ever crowded market. I know of one talented maker that is struggling; such a shame

Agreed. The challenge is real. Supply is short. I’ve had projects repriced too. Folks need to eat, I understand.
