CNES: Introducing their new Hatch Grain Chukka Boots

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I was really impressed with the new Hatch Grain collection from CNES and was thrilled with the opportunity to review a pair. This is the CK1 Chukka boot on the J last. A very sleek looking boot with a combination 270 Goodyear welt and Bolognese construction. This method is supposed to give a more flexible and comfortable sole compared to a traditional 360 goodyear welt. I will have to get some wear time to confirm that part but as far as the quality of the finish and construction I couldn't be happier.
Check out their full collection at www.cnes.co/
I think their newer models look more refined and they have adjusted their fit guide to be more accurate for US and EU clients. I think everything they have done has elevated the brand and moves things in a good direction.
Let me know what you think??

Folks, you can get your hands on these for US$240, you really can't complain, even if there are slight imperfections

I agree...for under $300 it's a fantastic bang for buck. Even shoes costing twice as much are likely to have tiny imperfections.

The rounded shape of the flaps make them look really sophisticated and elegant. If it was my pair of shoes, I would have claimed a discount or even have sent them back as the toe area is too uneven for my taste. As they are perfect in any other way it is kinda harsh to call them second choice but you know, I still would not be willing to pay full price.

I can certainly understand that. Having that much texture remain on the toe is actually more difficult to do and is more rare. The more flattened texture is far more common. I think the polish helped to even them out some but at the same time you are correct. At full retail price I think you could fairly ask for an exchange.

Great videos, I love your contents ! I was wondering if you'd have any advice regarding what kind (or brand) of brushes I should be looking for if I want to start dying my shoes ? And also, if I can dye / strip / redye a pair of shoes or if the acetone will damage the leather quickly ?

I use e.l.f makeup brushes. Foundation and eyeshadow brushes. I had a friend recommend them and like them better than the cheap craft store brushes I was using. As far as dye, strip and re-dye yes it can be done and usually won't damage the leather but there is a limit. I find the second strip is really difficult to get back to neutral. It is far better to get it right the first time or go to a darker color on the second time to cover up the first.

im considering the hatch grain derby, would you say their fit/size guide is decent? the site says its the V last and not the J as with the boots, so i would like to hear your take if you have any :)

I say take your normal UK size. My previous pair from a few years ago was too big even when I sized down half. Their fit guide was way off and would have had me ordering even larger. When I first ordered this boot I got the same sized down half from the other pair and it was too snug. I exchanged for my usual UK size (1 less than US size) and it's perfect. I really like the hatch grain leather on these. Can't wait for it to cool down a bit so I can wear them again.

@@mbshoedoc the size guide on the website says to still size half a size down, im guessing your input though is more hands on and will get the usual UK size then.

@@Electron101 That's for this specific model though. What does it say for the chukka? If it says size down on these I would scrap that but if it says these are true to size and the derby size down then it still may be accurate. It's hard to say for sure.
