I always use a broken tee. It gives it a slight bit of height but it's not so high as to hit the top part of the face. It also helps for hitting the center of the face. For me anyway

Excellent video as always. Your idea of having different coloured flags is a good one and one I always use depending on the severity of the hole. Play away from the hole if the severity of the miss is too great. You must also know your club yardages aswell. Play for the easiest part of the green which suits your shot shape. Have a good weekend and look forward to your next video.

Good point on club selection, over a season I can be between three different clubs depending on wind and run on the course.

I learned when I first started to play, Par 3's are always the hardest. I've also always aim for the big open spot not the flag pole. Yes, would like to be as close as possible but, easier to putt off the green than it is the higher grass. As for using "tee's", it depends on how I want my shot to be, for me, I tend to have a heavier club, tee up high, have the ball drop almost straight down if I have to go for a "tight" shot. Am I correct, doubtful but, it works for me, may not work for you or others and vice versa. I'll start trying to lower my tee's from now and see what I get. Great video, cheers :)

Great video. I’d also add another bit of humble advice. And that is to be honest with yourself about how far you actually carry each club. Leave the ego in the car park with your AirPods. I see way too many people trying to absolutely hammer an 8 iron and mess it up, rather than a controlled swing with a 7 or even a 6 depending on if the flags at the back of the green. So be honest with yourself, forget about impressing your playing partners with pulling a shorter club than them, and impress them instead with a smooth swing and an accurate shot followed by a birdie putt!

For the average golfers I always tell them par 3s are the easiest par 4 you will ever play. Get greedy and you can make 6 and blow up your round pretty easy.

I'd also suggest that, if it's a shot hole or conditions, (howling wind etc.) make it a much harder hole than normal, don't be embarrassed about laying up on a par three.

I played a long par 3 recently by 7I short of the bunkers, LW over the bunkers and dropped 3 ft from the flag. Made the put and went away happy.

Personally, I think the reason the pros don't have a great par-3 scoring average is because the courses they play on make most of them unfair. I would have to hit driver most of the time, and I still might come up short on some. There are some short par-3s, but they are generally very dangerous holes, like 17 at Sawgrass or 7 at Pebble Beach. If the pros usually encountered 145-yard par-3s with little danger and greens that weren't rock-hard, their scoring average would be under 2.5.

  • @CruceEntertainment

Not unfair, just difficult. Either they are very long, or have lots of trouble. Usually both. Pros are rarely hitting their approach shots on Par 4’s and 5’s the kind of distance they have to hit from on Par 3’s.

Golf: Where the "2 feet away" usually happens when it doesn't matter. Every golfer understands why you want to zoom in on that shot. And you'll be thinking all day about why that shot didn't happen in a tourney or scramble the last time you played that hole then you'll be pissed if you don't replicate that shot the next time. God I hate this game I've been playing for 40 years and spent thousands on and can't wait to play again.

Why do I hit most greens (60+%) as a PAR 3 from pretty much any distance...but lower than 30% from the fairways? I cannot figure it out. I've got 5 holes in one...but last time I holed out...was at least 25 years ago.
