Going Off Grid Ep3 - So many Jobs! - Forme Industrious
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This is a follow on video since building the big new workshop in April/ May 2022. The video covers projects going back to late February 2022 to August 2022. The property is 4.5 acres in the Atherton Tablelands, Queensland, Australia. It has no electricity, city water or sewage or mail or rubbish collection for that matter. What it does have is Beauty and so much nature. I take you through some of the projects to date.
I hope you enjoy the film.
Regards
Scott

18:08 Scott channeling Chief Brody after loading up that shelf... 🤣😂😆😁 "I think I'm gonna need a bigger shelf."
Man we did this 14 years ago, we live in Sydney and our "get away" is Grafton. Bloody hard work and it is still not done.

Thanks for the update Scott, the place is really coming along. I noticed the dual sport bike, they are a lot of fun and can be very useful for quick trips to town. I agree with you on collecting a lot of stuff over the years. I have a garage full of things. I enjoy your videos.

@@ScottTurnerformeindustrious Yeah I can imagine you've got some nice places to ride the bike . I love trail riding. I got rid of my RM125 Suzuki a few years ago and sure miss it. I rode a Kawasaki KDX 125 in the Philippines a couple years ago, that was a lot of fun.

We bought a property near the forest to do the same. we have 2 boys but cannot relocate yet due to their schooling. hope to be there someday. meanwhile we continue to develop the land slowly. like adding a well, adding storage shed etc... The feeling is amazing... the hope to escape it all. Not that we don't have everything (paid up bunglow, cars etc), but the forest is lovely and the city is not.PS: I sleep in my car, when im there because of the leopards, sloth bears, jackals and hyenas ;-)

Feeling your pain brother, I spent a year's worth of weekends building a Titan shed and then turning it into a house that got nicknamed the "Shouse" the "Shed House", it rained and rained and made my life miserable tromping around in the mud. When I finally got the gutters on and fitted a tank, it didn't rain again in any serious way for nearly 2 years. Good luck with your move, it's a massive change to your lifestyle.
@ScottTurnerformeindustrious
Жыл бұрын
Massive change for sure! We also are building a "Shouse" soon in addition to this. I knew I wouldn't be happy stomping around in the mud as it does get wet up here, so we are trying to get up from the clay, make paths etc. Makes a huge difference to the happiness factor. Many thanks!

Fuerza y adelante amigo Scott, existen muchos ojos siguiéndote! Abrazo, Maestro Artesano!

@@ScottTurnerformeindustrious Yes, they're fantastic. I think I've had mine a similar time. I saw it in a Land Rover magazine someone gave to me which is the only place I ever saw one advertised. It's a bit odd that they're not really promoted over here, although they are readily available. I have all the optional jaws too - pipe clamps and logging jaws. With the cost of energy rises we're experiencing, I have started to drive around with my chainsaw permanently in the car, so that I can take advantage of fallen trees and branches (I see many around where I live) for my log burner. The Superjaws is pressed into service to hold the logs while I chop them into smaller pieces.

I was thinking that I only needed a little 12x12 space for myself and my knitting (shawls and socks), and then maybe a little more space for my soap making studio. But then I remember that y’all have spiders and snakes and ticks and all sorts of other stuff that can kill you. But you also have cute koalas and adorable Taz devils…with sharp claws and teeth. Great window into all the new land chores, Scott! Particularly interesting as we're under contract on our retirement property (my wife will retire, I never will of course). With all that tall grass my mind instantly freaks out about chiggers, which I think you may call scrub-itch mites. Are they prevalent there? They're terrible here in rural areas. All the best, Andrew

G'day Andrew! I know what you mean about retirement. It's not happening for me also. Yes we get Miggies, probably similar, but only for a few months in the wet season. Hi Scott Did you make a video of the step ladder that you build for the shed build 😉 any dimensions?
@ScottTurnerformeindustrious
Жыл бұрын
I filmed only part of that build and lost interest (in the filming). My dimensions may not suit you. Make it so when you stand up on it you can reach the peak. Make it stable so it doesn't rock from side to side. A top hand and foot rail help a lot with safety. I made mine to fit into my trailer also, you may not need to.
