That's the thing Vegito is part Vegeta, and he is not pure evil but has evil tendencies. That attack should have worked. Just because they fuse doesn't mean that the evil is erased. Even if it didn't one shot him, it should've cause significant damage.

Alot of people don't realize that the ONLY reason Vegito toyed around with Buu as in the manga, and the series Dub / subbed. He wanted Buu to absorb him so he could free everyone inside. It was a planned event he wanted Buu to do.

Technically, Gohan should have ended Buu long before any of them were absorbed by Buu, to begin with. It would have been a shorter Buu arc had they went that route. But i get it, it was mainly for the filler and drama to draw it out to the end with Kid Buu being erased by the spirit bomb.

It's interesting to note that at the very last moment, just before Gogeta's dragon fist connected, Vegito used kaioken. This would have given him ample power to completely overwhelm Gogeta, assuming their power levels at SSB were very close if not identical. It's too bad Gogeta didn't also use kaioken at the last second.

Gogeta was actually using Blue Evolved during that final clash. As we see in Super, Blue Evolved and KiokenX20 were equal to each other. So Gogeta was overpowering Vegito until the last second, where the X20 Kamehameha overwhelmed Gogeta and he used up all his energy, turning him to stone.

@@wingedbluj1674 If Gogeta was using blue evolved, Vegito shouldn't have been able to overpower him even if he used kaioken x20. As you said, blue evolved and kx20 are equivalent in terms of power, so the only result, if Vegito used kx20 at the last second, should've been a simple clash of powers. That or both would have turned to stone. Even if Vegito was very slightly stronger than Gogeta, a tiny difference in power would not have secured a victory. We've seen it several times throughout the series that power is not always the deciding factor, especially one so small in difference. Ex., Perfect Cell with zenkai boost vs injured ss2 Gohan. Even if both were equal prior to Gohan's injury, Cell should have beaten Gohan after the latter was injured, but he still lost because plot armor. Also, I'm not so sure Gogeta was using blue evolved. Every transformation was clearly highlighted and defined, so there's no way blue evolved wouldn't be. What you saw, the slight shade of darker blue hair color, was likely a simple method to further tell the two apart aside from their clothing.

Also, this is Death Battle, SOMEONE has to lose (not counting a few rare exceptions) meaning that slight power difference between Gogeta and Vegito was a deciding factor, another being Vegito's longer time limit.

Gogeta in GT always struck me as a reference to Son Wukong and how he was a trickster at heart

I keep coming back to this battle, it's just so good, and both opponents are perfect warriors in spirit so the fight is so pure. The animations and expressions showed just how passionate both Gogeta and Vegito are about fighting, right up until the final fist bump ❤

Damn, I just noticed Gogeta went Blue Evolved at the very end while struggling against the Kamehameha... while Vegito went Kaio-Ken to finish him off... that's some nice attention to detail. Props to the animator.

Comparing this with the first Dragon Ball 3D episode that was Goku VS Superman, it's insane to see how far that Death Battle had come in terms of animation within the span of a decade, not to mention how stellar Season 9 was quality wise. Keep em' coming DB team!

Honestly, with these two already in FighterZ, this is a nice change of pace to see how a battle to the death would go. And even revisiting this episode, the ending of the fight is super intense, damn!

The fist bump at the end was a very nice touch! This series never fails to entertain me regardless of the outcome (sometimes I disagree with your results, but that's just life). And, I for one will be waiting for your next season to show up on my feed. Have a great break, and keep doing what you're doing!

The ending is a Asura reference when Asura defeat his brother-in-law Yasha in a battle of "Who's the strongest" when the world was ending in the background. Once Yasha is defeated and dust away, Asura give a soft fist bump.

Gogeta’s soul Judgment is really strong, but is effective only if the opponent is evil, wich Vegito isn’t. The moment i saw the final clash i already knew Vegito was going to win

To those who are wondering in this episode the voice actor for goku is the same voice actor for serial designation: N from murder drones.

To be fair about Vegito's personality in the Buu Saga, I think he was only drawing out the fight so he could mull over a way to rescue his family.

Yee. And similarly to Gogeta VS Omega Shenron, the goal was to get rid of all the minus energy FIRST, put all the work into baiting Omega so Gogeta could pull off the deed, and then delete him. He just ran out by that time for the secondary goal.

it was on ok foght, not that great and this was a mediocre finale

After 9 months, even after everything, I still think Goku and Vegita would especially agree to fight clones of themselves with different fusions to see who's best.

Fun fact: Both fusions would love being able to do this fight, considering they both have a similar in the way they they never know if they will ever come into existence again, so they savor every fight.

At the end, Gogeta smiled at Vegito as he knew, Vegito was not evil as the stardust breaker didnt kill Vegito and enjoyed the fight till the end.
