GODOX AD-B2 TWIN HEAD with TWO AD200's/eVOLV200's PHOTOSHOOT

So I got my hands on the Godox AD-B2 Twin Head Bracket, and had to buy a second Godox AD200. This video, I got the ladies favorite, Brandon Wickens, and I'll show you my results. It's a great alternative to the Godox AD600. Let me know what you think, and I hope yall enjoy the video.

    I have both the AD600 and the 2xAD200 combination, and if I could go back and decide again I'd just get two more AD200s with the twin head. Having the power of HSS and TTL with that much power is pretty incredible.

    NIce. Came here from the Godox facebook group. Amazing how nice these are out in that much sun. I need to watch more "photoshoot" style videos like this. Very inspiring. Thank you. All your stuff is a step up from me but I still have all the same stuff. Camera. Lens. Trigger. Flash. Stand. I just need to get out there. I feel like my style would have the model in the shade, but the background blurry in the sun, then use the flash to bring the skin up to the background. But you have put him more "in" the environment, and I like it.

    Some great results, but I can’t help thinking that 1 x AD600 Pro might be less hassle (and about the same cost) as 2 x AD200 + dual mount + reflector. It also comes with 200 Watts more power. Still can’t make up my mind, but thanks for the insight. Very helpful.

  • @theflyest203

    @theflyest203

    6 жыл бұрын

    less hassle will be two 200's you most likely wont need the power of the 600 in 80% of shooting situations (most don't shoot in really harsh lighting most of the time) where having 2 ad200's you could just use one for most cases as your run and gun light. its so light and easy to work with and when you need the power in rare cases just hook the other one up..

    But the AD600 is much more UNcomfortalbe in portability. With the ad200 you are much more portable. The much smaller and more versaitle (usw a sinlge one, usw both etc).

  • @michaeljemery

    @michaeljemery

    6 жыл бұрын

    Not sure how you are measuring “comfort” for a monolight setup. The dual AD200 solution is definitely more versatile, in that the AD600 can’t split into two, but then, on a really bright day or with a wider composition, you might need that extra 200W. I’m not arguing against dual AD200s, I think they’re great, and the only option (practically speaking) if you are working out of a backpack. But if you hand carry gear boxes onto location, I think the AD600 might win on ease of transport/setup. The AD400 is an interesting case; it’s *probably* not backpack portable, it can’t split into two, AND you lose your 200W advantage. I’m looking forward to the first decent reviews.

    @@michaeljemery I'm in the same boat trying to decide!!! What did you choose? I'm thinking one AD600 = One battery and one bulb to replace when the time comes. It's so hard to decide as the 200's look really attractive for what they do!

  • @michaeljemery

    @michaeljemery

    5 жыл бұрын

    @Galvatron I went with a kit of AD600 plus 2 speed lights (Godox V860ii). I choose Godox Speed lights because they work with the remote that comes with the AD600, and they are extremely well featured for not much money. I am satisfied I made the right choice, because my speed lights are good enough 70% of the time, otherwise I really did need the max power of the AD600 to fill the remaining gaps. The more I get into flash photography, the more I appreciate the "grab and shoot" ease of a single powerful strobe. This is where the AD200s lose their lightweight advantage. I also liked the idea of the AD400 and wondered if it would be powerful enough for all situations, and I concluded that while it would be fine for 90% of what I do, the minimal extra size of the AD600 was worth going all the way. Unless you are trying to fit everything into one big, heavy, ugly, and unwieldy camera bag, then get the AD600. So, I have a very powerful strobe, less set-up hassle, and a 3 light setup (which is a really handy). The only thing you might consider changing is getting the TT680 speed lights instead, they are exactly the same as the V860ii, except they use AA batteries instead of Li-Ion. This makes them DIRT CHEAP, but more importantly, getting caught with flat li-ion batteries can really screw up a paid shoot, whereas AA batteries are available anywhere (get rechargeables).

    Hi Derrell, just curious but, why not invest in some ND filters inside of shooting at 1/8000 and shooting both AD200s at full power. I also use the AD200s and about to pick up the B2 to "stack" them, but for some reason everyone seems to be very excited about shooting at 1/8000. For me (a personal thing), I see no need to shoot at that high of a shutter speed of a stationary object. I have ND filters for all of my lenses and like to keep my shutter speed about 125 - 2000 if possible to preserve flash speed and power. The only down side to ND filters is sometimes, depending on the quality of the glass, is you get a minor color cast; which is a pretty easy fix in PS or LR.

  • @angus68655

    @angus68655

    5 жыл бұрын

    I'm curious Bobby as to why you think adding another peice of glass by way of an ND filter is somehow more convenient than increasing the shutter speed. Unless the max shutter speed and shooting at the widest possible aperture was still overexposing your shot I'm not seeign the point you're trying to make. You've highlighted a potential downside to using an ND filter however I'm not seeing a downside at shooting at fast shutter speeds unless you were looking for some kind of motion blur effect or similar from wind, etc. which you're unlikely to get at the shutter speed range you're suggesting anyway.

    Great video bro. Excuse me for asking this silly question, how do we set the correct speed setting in our camera while using hss? How do we do the exact calculation? I knwo that we havw to underexpose it but by how many stops for example if the flash is at full power?

    Putting them on different groups gives you the ability to even more fine tune the flash output from them, since you can run one on full power and the other you can turn down in increments. For example instead of both on 80%, you can have one on 100% and the other on 80%, which gives you a median of 90% output. In essence, less total W's adjustment for every step down or up

    Curious why the flash units needed to be set to different groups of you’re using them together at same power levels?

    So how do you like it over the ad600? I purchased the neewer. It’s the best kept secret cause it’s the same flash by with a cheaper name.
