I think the way Odin died was actually worse than most people imagine. His soul wasn't just removed from his body. His soul was completely destroyed and did not go to any afterlife like Valhalla or the Soul Light. Perfect justice for Sindri considering the same thing happened to Brok

Agreed even the side question are interwoven with their own stories. The world building and lore in this are amazing. I can see the pacing issues some brings up with the main story but it didn’t bother me and as far as comparing to the 2018 I don’t see how this one would ever touch that story simply cause ragnarok has more characters and higher stakes to set up where 2018 is more a personal focused story. Both games are amazing and as one who has played all the god of was since the first the ending of this hit hard when it came to Kratos character. Amazing game. Then again I’ll admit I’m a bit biased for games like these but I also voted for elden ring as game of the year for what it brought with its world.

What I liked about this was the bond between Atreus and Odin... the fact that Atreus choose to show Odin kindness before his passing and Odin used the last of his strength to pass away in the comfort of Atreus’ arms. True bros indeed... in another life.. Odin and Atreus would’ve gotten along very well... and so would’ve Kratos and Thor. This was also important for Atreus, Kratos and Freya... Atreus took no joy in doing what he did, Kratos tried to avoid war and learnt to feel for the other victims on a battlefield like the Midgardians (humans), Freya's anger towards Odin turned into pity... seeing him reveal his true self to Atreus, it's when she realized that Odin is technically the first victim of his obsessive madness. It helped her move on and make peace with Odin... in a manner of speaking. Which is why she did not exact vengeance on Odin's soul in the marble... she felt sorry for him now.

Odin did not 'use the last of his strength to pass away in the comfort of Atreus' arms.' He passed out the minute Loki started whispering his soul away. That feminine stuff you've added is incredibly disturbing. How is this a top comment when it's not even true? What is wrong with people?
@lordbiscuitthetossable5352
Жыл бұрын
The only thing was I took a slightly different message. Atreus wanted to spare Odin, but the fact that "he needed to see what happened next" and his inability to stop made them incompatible. He understood why Odin acted the way he did, but in becoming a man was learning when someone is beyond reason and when to stop them. Not out of anger or hate, but a rational decision carried out as the last choice. Thor had some elements of cunning and compassion. Still, he was utterly incapable of seeing the bigger picture due to his wraith and role, and we got an insight into him long before we met him because he viciously beat up his own son for retreating. Odin likewise saw only what he wanted and was ignorant of the consequence of his own actions. It wasn't kinship. It was the gentle euthanization of a madman who had long lost his way.
@SuccessQuotesMotivation

@@lordbiscuitthetossable5352 I agree with everything you said, except I think the idea that 'odin used the last of his strength to pass out in atreus's arms' is both untrue and homosexual. Which was said by the comment we are replying to. Is the Low T epidemic that it gets 471 likes?
@Ozzie_Mandias
Жыл бұрын
@@lordbiscuitthetossable5352 I agree it was gentle euthanization... what I was pointing out is why the gentle euthanization was more important for Atreus, Kratos and Freya. And Odin, instead of collapsing onto the ground, nudged himself to fall into Atreus' arms... and no one took joy in euthanizing him. They felt sorry for him and Atreus even shoed some kindness as he passed away. What we need to keep in mind is given his behaviour... Odin is self absorbed.... but not a narcissist. In addition to regular self harming for knowledge, which is something no narcissist does... he has a very "favourite person" and "subhuman person" view on people... The love he shows to his favourite person is genuine... which is why Freya and Mimir were so shocked when Odin turned on them... and he turned on them the moment they did not live up to the idealistic image he has of them. Keep in mind, he loved Freya and made gifts for her everyday... each more heartfelt than the last... and he even decided to hire Mimir as his best friend and advisor after Mimir pranked him with enchanted hallucinogenic mushrooms.
According to the prophecy if Kratos does not change his ways and fights Thor with the intention to kill him, then he will lose and die in Atreus' arms. His previous dialogues repeatedly hinted at this, how he thought it was morally justified to kill what has the intention to kill him. Then Thor and Odin will win. But he changed his ways and he fought with the intention to subdue and get through to Thor. At that moment he beat the prophecy.

Sorry? You couldn't tell the game designers were crapping on him the whole entire game? (Plus previous game too but whatever) From his looks, to personality, and then everything in between. I kind figured they kill him off -- he also only ever got "changed" in merely the last few little seconds of the whole time we've seen him in this series as well (unlike Sif for example who is already "changed" from the first time she is encountered in the game despite Mimir's description of her pre-Thrud)...

@ZyrusTyrax

@@user-ns2ku3zz7p I legitimately don't know about that. On one hand, he plays dirty and cowardly, but in a way of trickery and sorcery, so that goes along with his character. On the other hand, he lifted Mjolnir with one hand and smacks around powerhouses like Kratos while being jumped by Loki and Freya. Mjolnir in mythology was supposed to be so heavy that only Thor could wield it. So there's that. I still enjoy Odin in this game tho, more cunning and less warrior-like. Especially since he's hanged/killed himself before which is something that's frowned upon by Viking ideals.
I feel so bad for poor thor is broken and he doesn't have to kill him.
Damn there were a bunch of missed opportunities to make this epic. Could of fought Thor with Jörmungandr before he knocks him back in time. Could of had Odin put the mask on and fought him in an “all knowing” form with surtur as the backdrop, Instead of just breaking it. Could of fought all throughout asgard & on top of the wall instead of just his house. Idk everything was amazing until the very last fight 😔

Draupnir spear to represent his Spartan heritage and his pledge to protecting the Nine Realms, the Blades of Chaos as reminders of his divine heritage and as symbols of his overcoming his suffering, and the Leviathan Axe and Guardian Shield to represent his new life in the Nine Realms and as his mementos of Faye, the one who inspired the changes in his mindset, to be a protector, leader and steward, besides being a warrior. I feel like the fight could’ve been a lot better. Would’ve liked to see Kratos knocked into the sky hitting things in Asgard similar to the first Thor fight, and Thor doing massive thunder attacks in the air and knocking Kratos down with his hammer. I liked the Baldur and first Thor fight more tbh where we saw the ice and lighting clash while there wasn’t much use or the 3 elements Kratos has in this fight. But I guess the whole Asgard war seemed a bit rushed overall
