[GMSH tutorial 1] Installation and first model building and meshing

Ғылым және технология

Gmsh is an open source 3D finite element mesh generator with a built-in CAD engine and post-processor. Its design goal is to provide a fast, light and user-friendly meshing tool with parametric input and advanced visualization capabilities. Gmsh is built around four modules: geometry, mesh, solver and post-processing.

    I wonder if the "G" in Gmsh comes from GNU, as the software is released under GPL ( GNU General Public License)

    Hi. Can i use gmsh with openfoam? It just only create a mesh for finite element or do i have any chance to generate a mesh for finite volume?

  • @Feaforall

    @Feaforall

    2 жыл бұрын

    I might be wrong, but I think the mesh and the method used by the solver are usually independent. You have to understand what kind of mesh your finite volume solver supports and then generate this type of mesh with Gmsh. So the answer is yes, it should be possible except if your solver needs something very special…

    Hello, I am studying aerospace engineering. I just started Openfoam. I want to perform a 2D CFD analysis of an airfoil. Can you list the things I need to do after the transactions are completed through GMSH? Do I just need to save it in the relevant format, put it in my openfoam file and determine the boundary conditions? I would be very happy if you could help me with this subject. Kind regards.
