[GMSH tutorial 2] Model Translation Rotation Extrusion and 3D Meshing - t2.geo

Ғылым және технология

Gmsh is an open source 3D finite element mesh generator with a built-in CAD engine and post-processor. Its design goal is to provide a fast, light and user-friendly meshing tool with parametric input and advanced visualization capabilities. Gmsh is built around four modules: geometry, mesh, solver and post-processing.

hi cyprien! I would say that gmsh was one of the last big pillars of the opensource simulation and meshing that you did not made tutorials ^^ so great to see it :). I have tried to incorporate gmsh to my workflow but did not find a way to, when importing a step file create the physical boundaries in the TUI, something like the face that contains the point p is the physical boundary inlet. (the issue was getting the tag of the desired face from only coordinates and not the GUI) if you find a way to do this dont hesitate to put it in the tutorials :D

You mean creating a physical surface group from a face that you don't know the ID, right? So basically, retrieving the ID of a surface within certain coordinates?

@@Feaforall yes exactly, without opening the gui I did not find a way to find the tag (id's of a surface) only from the script, like in Salome when creat a group by filtering using is contained by and a defined plane for example...

Can anyone please advise about the GMSH syntax. When does a line end with a semi-colon ; and when isn't it needed? It would appear that when the statement has a = there's a semi-colon at the end of the line and if not the terminator is } instead. Nothing is said about this in the manual.
