GMOD VR: Exploring gm_Stormwald ( Tomb of the Secret Prisoner)
Ойын-сауық
We awaken in a prison cell, with no knowledge of how we got here. There's no one in the other cells - or anywhere, for that matter. What is this remote facility, and what is it hiding? More importantly, why was it left abandoned?

“If the doors unlocked, this may not be a prison- it may be a crappy hotel. Although, not the crappiest- I’ve stayed at worse.” -The Librarian
Here's a scary thought. Imagine waking up in a facility like this with no memory of how you got there, trying so hard find a way out. But then you finally find an exit, only to discover that during your time in the facility something happened to the world, leaving it desolate and lifeless wasteland.
Recently started doing gmod vr exploring myself. Before trying it myself, I used to say the Librarian was a scaredy cat... NOT ANY F*CKIN MORE! Jesus Christ dude I was struggling to finish walking down one hallway. Either I'm the scaredy cat here, or Mr. Librarian has balls of steel. Hats off to you good sir, keep up the good content.

could not agree more, librarian is indeed insanely brave, vr makes everything seem to be scarier, even a non horror place can feel scary, liminal space, empty space, corridor, just waaay scarier.

This is a huge effect actually. I play vrchat and like 90% of the spaces there are designed to be as comfortable and cozy as possible and sometimes just the knowledge that there are empty hallways hidden from view is enough to spook me sometimes. I think the reason why looking through tiny openings is scarier than seeing a wide-open doorway is because of how often horror-themed media has used that situation as a set-up for a jump scare. You're expecting that tiny opening to suddenly be filled with a person's face looking back at you, or to have some otherworldly arm groping to try and catch you. Also, I'm kind of let down that you didn't use no-clip to fly over to that weird red light above the train tunnel. For some reason, I kept picturing that as some kind of glowing red entity, and I was expecting it to start moving in your direction the second you first hit that button that started the weird, distant warning sound.

Man, I wish I could play VR so bad. I've gotten into a horror game kick recently, but it's hard for me to really be invested in them (and therefore frightened by them) because immersion is what makes it spooky most of the time but rationalization and de-immersion (probably not a word) is my defense mechanism for horror. Being able to reach the level of immersion of *literally being physically immersed into the game* is such an amazing feeling. Helps that I never get motion sick!

bro literally woke up in solitary confinement and was like: "rise and shine... and I see now that this is not my room but a jailcell 😂😂😅😅 "
I like a lot of the other videos, but the Gmod ones always capture a vibe which reasonates with my childhood. And the source vibe in general just gets me.
Wow that part where he talked about having a GOOD nap while having the most bizzare but fitting dream and then waking up to feeling like time has passed AND being either home alone (sometimes having your siblings around but still), just feels like the most Liminal Space feeling I always get when I had those naps..like waking up somewhere unfamiliar but yet it's somewhere that you been living in for a long time. Anyway that part of the video is why I love watching The Librarian's content, always has a appeal to the most bizarrely relatable topics and I'm here for it
When you do these maps, I like to play on the same map as the video goes. Not sure why, it's fun to me.
1:00:20 - I love when you pretend you can't talk underwater and instead make the "blub blub" sounds, it gives the video so much more atmosphere/realism!
49:37 Seeing a jumpscare after a while thats how these maps first calm you down and at one point you encounter something like this which instantly makes you uncomfy from enjoying exploring every part of the map to seeing something like that

30:40 Holy crap. The scared me so badly. It wasn't the light flickering itself that scared me, and more the sudden startled tone of the librarian.
31:35 “It feels like someone, WANTS TO SELL ME SOMETHING!”
i remember exploring this with my friend and we had NO idea it had lore and stuff, pretty fun
This map does not only produce a feeling of anxiety in the game, but it also translates to real life. You start to think of real life you in this situation and not just from the perspective of a game character. Imagine after you watch this video, you blank out. The next thing you're greeted with when you open your eyes is a concrete room. Upon looking through the unnerving rectangle opening in the door, you see the entire facility is drowning in a deadly silence. You welcome the silence as you can hear anything that's moving around, but then you soon realise, that anything here can also hear you moving around. With no way to get out, no contact with the outside world, you begin to explore. As you wander the endless halls and staircases, you feel and hear something following you. Trying to avoid it, you move erratically, hoping not to end up in a dead end. In doing so, you eventually end up in the coolant room. You see no way out of this situation. You press the "raise" button and watch as the water grows closer to you. As you stand and watch, you hear the thing you've been dreading all along. It has finally found you. Out of fear, you tie something heavy to your foot and jump in the rising water. You may die to the facility, but at least it'll be better than being at the hands of that malevolent being which you've been trying to avoid all this time.

You're great librarian :)
I just love hearing your voice. It's just perfect.
22:38 i mean if it counts Half-Life 2: Episode 1 actually sorta did this when Alyx was talking about Gordon and Barney racing eachother through vents to get Kleiner's keys when he'd forget them and this goofy story being the background to why both characters are so proficient in air vents. There was also Saints Row IV during the Metal Gear Solid parody mission where Da Boss says it's funny these vents could fit them.
I love these Gary’s mod videos

Another day of asking the Librarian to play Chasing static, a indie horror Exploration game.
A tip regarding invisible props: If you check the console and see that it's throwing a load of errors constantly, try the r_flushlod command. I don't understand the Source spaghetti behind it, but it manages to fix the issue when I encounter it. I'm guessing it has something to do with Garry's Mod having an oopsie and not loading the props right?
I love how he says "looks like a face of some sort... or a country Ball...haha" like what he said wasn't bone chilling
Well I know what I'm watching this evening 👀
The invisible props may have been fixable with r_flushlod in console, restarting gmod, or reinstalling the addon.

I get the invisible props rarely but he seems to get them a lot worse/more often, but yeah just reloading usually fixes it. Maybe the VR mod is interacting with something in such a way that it triggers whatever bug causes it more often.

The dev intended it to be some-what empty as it's suppose to be a map you put NPC bots into.
@32:10 this reminds me a bit of Session 9.
Well it's official now, The Libarian has a prison pocket.
Ok, so, just weird recommendations. If you don't mind reading being your main access to a work, cultist simulator is exceptionally well written, if you don't mind having to bumble around and trial and error to figure out thing. Also, Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead, it's a game very much in the vain of dwarf fortress, and has alot in common with Zomboid, though it takes it's zombie setting in a notable eldritch horror bent, if you don't mind dying and watching a tutorial/doing some wiki diving (I can recommend Worm Girl's, she makes a lot of good content in general.) I think you could really get into it. Finally, Parasite Eve 1 and 2 (avoid 3, no one likes 3) are really strong survival horror/RPG showings by Square Enix, being their attempt in a world where Resident Evil basically had just become a thing, granted you don't mind emulation, the monster design is incredible and the story is really trying it's best.
