I agree with this, the mixed style this has, leaving in moments of little importance, it brings a vibe of the viewer being along for the ride, less a viewer and more like someone there, someone in the action and the lack thereof, but of course, for a performance standard, leaving in everything, all the time with nothing really happening, it would pad out the video too much and it wouldn't do so well in a normal audience... however, knowing this particular audience, I think a longer, less edited video every once in a while would fit their vibe.

1:07:17 You should have kept this story to yourself. Now you *know* one of your fans are going to turn this into a haunted map full of distorted, demonic Suga Mama voice lines, and a chase scene/boss fight against her.

I’ve had several dreams of my old high school like this. Not usually abandoned, but always at night time. Like something was going on and that’s why I was there along with other students. Although once it was empty besides me. Not terrifying just unsettling

Same. Those “night” school dreams are scary. Once I leave the school all the dream NPCs disappear and it’s just a big empty street infront of the school at night and I have to walk home.

@@MrBearMax I get those too, sometimes the corridors are a mile long or the parts of the school I'm in are just what I see while going from one dream area to the next, or it's like an amalgamation of buildings that mostly resembles the school.

I had this really vivid nightmare from way back then where I was in the courtyard of my old elementary school and my class was being taught at the tallest point of the play structure while it was completely dark out (Except for a few lights near the play structure) I tried getting there to be with my class again but before I could try something grabbed me by the leg and quickly dragged me into the darkness. I tried screaming for help until I got woke up. So weird and fascinating to hear about other people having dreams about being at their school during night.

Unfortunately I have dreams like this frequently, a MC escher-esque maze of a school. It's always the first day and I have no idea what my schedule is or where my first class is held, and I spend the whole time wandering hallways and floors looking for the front office or a school counselor but never find them. It's almost always dark, sometimes I'm alone in the halls and there are people in class rooms, sometimes the halls are full. I've also had mall and theater dreams similar to this.

i've had the exact same sort of scenario at least once before; there was all kinds of strange stuff going on in that dream but i most vividly remember the parts where i repeatedly walked through a particular hall in my old middle school that eventually turned into what looked like some kind of ancient temple with stone halls lit by torches and covered in moss, and towards the end of the dream i was in what was supposed to be my old high school wandering empty, dark halls that seemed to endlessly repeat with no exit, until i entered one room that was also empty, where i suddenly realized i was dreaming and then immediately woke up

This is a neat map! It leaves me wishing Garry's Mod had a standard, freely available, generically modern asset pack, so that maps like this wouldn't have to use such Half-Life-specific posters and graffiti.

28:25 Bit of this is lost in this version. In the normal version of the map, the lights are meant to go out suddenly after you get to a certain point in the school or on some timer. When they do, you're meant to locate a key to access a powerbox to restore power to the lights.

on the subject of weird dreams: I once had a dream where a zombie horse tried to eat me, but I caught it's head in a door and it started singing about its backstory, so I kicked it in the face. Then Yosemite Sam teamed up with Miss Frizzle to warn everyone about the oncoming horde of several thousand other zombie horses, while I threw a handful of mud into a PVC pipe to summon a massive laboratory to fight them

31:54 I quite like it the way it is honestly. I enjoy the silent sections between events to help absorb me into the atmosphere, but sometimes they can really start to drag. I feel like you already achieve quite a nice balance between the two

I prefer silence rather than em being cut, as it lets us properly explore the places with you rather than seeing simply a highlight reel.

Elliot left this school and everything went to hell Man, that Stalker jumpscare made me laugh so bad.

You said something at the end that reminded me of a real fucked up SEVEN LAYER DEEP dream from like 15-16 years ago before waking up properly and for one the rare times in my life being genuinely scared of a nightmare.

@Adolf Hitler nah i agree with him. you can just ignore the triggers, turn the lights on, and it’s just a chill empty school. i like that vibe. not all people are scared of an empty school. i often have dreams where i’m just going around my old schools. nothing scary, just kinda sentimental and nostalgic. ps. cant believe adolf is into gmod vr exploration maps!

@@notyourdaThat sounds fun to me, and knowing teachers are there makes is less scary as they are teachers, if something bad were to happen you could always cry for some help. plus it adds an extra layer of fun trying to avoid them like some stealth game.

That was an incredible map, I really don't do well with horror and for most of the video I kept far from my screen and my volume low, but nearing the end I was so invested I completely switched from that to being at the edge of my seat staring right at the screen with my volume all the way up... which did make me jump and yell at that beach part in the finale. Man, what a Gmod map that was.

To answer the question of wether to cut silent parts or not, I personally prefer them being included, but I wonder if both could be possible? Cut versions left here and uncut versions left perhaps on a sibling channel?

Man, this mod makes me pine for more after-hours School-based horror games. Things like DreadOut, or White Day; Horror that takes place in a closed school can perfectly hit that feeling of "You're not supposed to be here." Long hallways, a nearly-endless amount of rooms, and some nameless horror or urban legend stalking the halls ready to add you to its Myth.

this feels like you're the last person on earth, trying to find a comfortable place to sleep, but the sounds of the school and an odd security system making you think there's something more to it, and the exploration leads to you thinking there's someone following you, in the shadows. Whether there is, or not, the bodies tell you that SOMETHING is out there.

It reminds me of 2 maps. Abyssal plains and void edge. The later of which was deleted at first but then someone did a reupload. Both of which are some of my favorite maps to come out for gmod. With the later feeling like. To semi quote someone. "The remains of a world/universe destroyed by some eldritch being." It has such a unique vibe to it. Explore it if you can. (Flying is a requirement as it's a series of floating islands with no way between them.)

What happens if you open that door?

I don't know why, but I feel like this dream was like- a cry for help by some entity. It's mainly the sewage ocean at the end there-? I picture this is either a warning or a call for help. Like, the burned bodies and all that, that's very clearly something wrong. Which gives me the idea of a glimpse into a twisted future.

Oh, my man, your "he obviously doesn't speak American" joke. You damn near killed me. I haven't laughed that hard from a one off joke, from off the cuff, in a long time.

School buildings manage to seem so nostalgic and architecturally dull/artificial at the same time

38:30 I love underwater Librarian

I was on a walking trail with a friend, it was pretty late at night but we wanted to go because it was kinda spooky. The trail eventually goes under two highway bridges, walking up to and under them and hearing the cars going over us and by, made me think I was in an old PS1 game, just how I could see the lights of the cars when they went by, and I heard them going when we walked under the bridge, but I couldn’t see any of them. Then we came to an office complex, nobody around, just a few trucks parked in places, and the side of the building with clean white lights over a small stretch of well cut grass, again I felt like I was inside a retro video game. Funny how different things are at night. I hope this is appealing for Librarian. :P

For your question of preferring you cutting to events or leaving some space between, you leaving a mix of both is great

There were military vehicles outside the school somewhere indicating a terrorist threat, at the end you wake up in a bedroom where the exit hallway looks like an insane asylum, So maybe this nightmare represents a traumatizing event in the characters past in which nobody believes them because they were the only survivor and found in a awkward moment at the school which caused them to be sent to an insane asylum, the monster that kills you at the end is probably representing the staff forcing them back into their cell and locking it again which explains why you can’t leave the cell again.

Yet another atmospheric and honestly unsettling video, I loved every second of it!

Watching this video at night was absolutely HORRIFYING and I don’t regret it..

Regarding keeping quiet between notable events vs cutting them- I quite like seeing the exploration part of things, so I think watching you walk and look around is more interesting to me than if those bits were cut- even if it isn't particularly an 'interesting' moment, I think stuff like that adds atmosphere and tension.

So when i was in school i was a teacher's kid well my mom always went to her classroom hours before school starts before even the faculty arrived she was always the first to arrive. Well i used to explore the middle school durring those early mornings and this entire video brought those memories back.

Can relate with having dreams like this. I loved the atmosphere in this map. Man, I missed so much though. I made it to the keypads & then got sidetracked with screwing around lol.

This map really does remind me of F.E.A.R. 2 in the school mission, idk if it’s just me but that’s what it reminded me of, also the map was really cool I wish I was able to play through it myself.

i can almost see someone doing a cry of fear styled machinima or an animation in this school also the whole building strongly reminds me of the map called de_school2/1, in this map its layout inside is a bit diffrent but the outside is almost the same. its so cool to watch stuff like this i can almost feel like walking next to you and just listen and along side you exploring this building. thats the peak of gmod map showcase type content
