Michael Beattie if my 2006 avalanche doesn't have the signal arrow on the mirror what would I need to be able to install one that does have the signal arrow, because it only has the 2 small wires and not the third one that's a bit bigger.

Any suggestions if the broken glass is due to a bird strike and the panel fell out (so that the hub disconnected from the motor but the wires are still intact)? I am unable to get the housing that the mirror slides onto off the back of the broken mirror in order to reattach it to the motor and then the new mirror to the whole unit.

Does this apply to 99-06 Silverados? I went to the junk yard and ruined a perfect mirror by prying on the glass with a screw driver :(

Any chance you could show this for a 2015-2020 Tahoe/Suburbanwith the small mirrors? My glass is intact - just the LED arrow has come loose and needs to be re-attached. Thanks in advance

You can use two panel tools under the front side of the mirror and use lever action upward to remove glass without removing back panel.

Yes you can, I only removed the panel some everyone would understand what was happening when you are removing the glass. That is how my original video was and many people were confused.

How do i disconnect those cables that have been covered with that heat tightening covers?

Great video, quick question are the two wires that look soldered to the white part on the mirror are those the indicator that you have heated mirror?

Yes, mine had a heated mirror. Most Mirror wires will break off and it's recommended you cut and solder to save yourself from purchasing another

Does the side of the mirror matter for the motor?

So the housing on the back of mirror is my issue on how to take it off

perhaps we could tape or glue in those wires before working thru assembling back

I do not think they sell just the cover. You can call GruvenParts as they have lots of extra mirror parts and can help you out.

I’m having trouble replacing the passenger mirror on my 2007 Chevy avalanche can you send me e video on how to do it?

I’ve been trying to follow your instructions. I’m working on a 2017 Silverado crew cab LTZ. Nothing is working like in this video. I have the mirrors with the turn signal heated open and close feature and power. All I want is to get the mirror out to work on and replace the puddle light. Yes I know that it comes out of the bottom but I need a little more room for what I want to change it to. I can get the chrome cover off. But that’s about where it stops the plastic on the arm and the glass or anything else I just can’t seem to get off. I get the plastic on the “arm” to split open but nothing seems to release. I have looked obviously at other videos but I’m still stuck. Any suggestions? Other than that new hybrid Ram pickup looks nice.

I have a 2016 GMC Sierra with broken glass on the passenger side. The whole black plastic backing was hanging but, it appears that there are 3 small spring clips helping to hold it, I only recovered two. There appeared to be no clips on the video. Do you know if it would work without the last clip. I was thinking of buying a new assembly, then stripping it down to take out those clips, so that I could keep my factory mirror, and not have to reomove the entire door panel. your opinion?

Unfortunately the 2016 is different from the video. I believe you are referring to the spring clips holding in the mirror and you should have two. Attached is a link showing the disassembly of the 2016 mirrors. Hope this helps. www.gruvenparts.com/content/PDF/2015_GM_DIY.pdf

i have 2010 Cadillac Escalade Luxury trim 6.2L AWD i have both driver and passenger side heated mirrors. My passenger side mirror heats up just fine. yet my driver side does not. I also have the blind zone alert in the mirrors and the turn signals. is there a fuse linked to this driver side heating element that I could check? all the features work on both mirrors besides the heat on the driver side mirror. thank you in advance.

I would remove the mirror and turn it on. While on check for voltage at the mirror. It is likely a bad mirror but no telling until you check.

@@DinkAround thank you for replying, I think from watching your video that I can pop off the cover and get to the wires from behind to test them. Not sure though, it looks like I could but you already had the mirror off. Only one way to find out. Thanks for posting the video.

I know this video is old but I came across this, my 2004 Cadillac CTS passenger side power mirror glass came off the housing and connectors while I was driving and all the auto stores said I had to buy the whole unit is this true or can I just get the glass

A glass is available and I believe it is a glue in replacement. Most recommend replacing the mirror assembly on the CTS. I do not have a CTS available to possibly make a repair video.

If your in an area with rust, you would need to cut the wiring and add new connections. Sometimes they cannot be saved.

I gotta fix the leds and the folding mechanism doesn’t engage only the motor spins

Very helpful after I had to make sure the mirror control was all the way down to snap back in place. Thanks save me 250.00 dollars.

I can't get the mirror housing off and I broke my black stick trying to do it, now there's a plastic piece stuck... So irritated. Nothing works for me. Thank you anyway.

You could have used a plastic tool under the bottom edge of the glass and simply pry it upwards and the glass releases. No need to remove the plastics

I removed the plastic to show everyone what was happening so they would have a better understanding. Yes a plastic tool could have been used and this is what I did in a previous video. No one seemed to be able to grasp the concept hense this video.
