Probably one of the most talented artist in the last 40 years

Beautiful music...melody...lyrics...no auto tune...or half naked people...no angry hateful music...we need music like this again!!!!

One of the more underrated pop ballads that definitely deserves another life. Incredible song by David Gates. Campbell does it justice here.

Underrated?? Hardly. This song was a huge hit on the radio in the Spring of 1971, performed by the writer, David Gates and Bread.

As a child I loved Glen Campbell's voice. I always said he had the sun in his voice as if to describe a feeling he gave that I couldn't describe any other way. A fantastic all round performer, guitarist, vocalist. God bless him.

I had the extreme joy of meeting Glen Campbell years ago at the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe Washington. More significantly, I was assigned the honor of introducing him to the packed audience awaiting his performance sponsored in part by the radio station I was employed with at the time, Young Country (KYCW 96.5 fm) As I was standing on the ramp leading to the stage I looked over my shoulder to see Glen casually walking alone, wearing his electric guitar and playing along with the Star Spangled Banner blaring over the fairground loudspeakers! No one would have ever known either, as he effortlessly joined in without missing a beat! After an awkward handshake negotiating the handrail (Over the rail or Under?) he actually 'introduced' himself and proceeded to converse as if we'd just seen each other yesterday. So genuine and generous.

The magical talent of both Glen Campbell and the creator of this beautiful song: David Gates is very under appreciated! Our current World has lost touch with many things, but the one thing that could make life much better is Music. And like the lyrics to the great song by Don McLain American Pie it truly seems the Music has died! But to old schoolers like myself it shall live on!

David Gates under appreciated? Hardly. He had hit after hit in the 1970's. Aubrey, The Goodbye Girl, Everything I Own, The Guitar Man, It Don't Matter to Me, to name just a few.

I can’t think of a modern day performer who could do as much as Glen Campbell - entertainer, session player, actor, etc.. He did it all.

Anyone else have a lump in their throat besides me? What a voice! Amazing performance!

Glen was the best entertainer of our generation! He was a talented actor too! I bought my first guitar from watching the Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour. Nobody had the smoothest voice of Glen Campbell!

His voice is total crystal pure. He is/was totally underrated as an artist.

Yeah, underrated by anyone that doesn’t know music. He outsold the Beatles in 1968. He was one of the best guitarist and vocalist ever.

Gifted. Smooth. Hits the high notes with no effort.

I honestly never heard another version other than the original. This is stunning.

Today August 8, 2017 Glen Campbell went home to be with his Lord, Rest In Peace Glen you will be missed by many

I consider Glen Campbell to be one of the most underrated musicians of all time! He pours raw emotion into every syllable of every lyric. This rendition is a shining example of that.

he had perfect pitch, started guitar at five, and had an uncle who was a professional guitarist who tutored him. he also disinherited some of his children so he may not have been the world's greatest human. but he was one of the greatest musician/singers on the planet, no doubt.

Sadly the Guitar sounds so poor. Ovations are NOT great sounding as a rule.

What a distinctive and unique singing voice. And his guitar playing ability is almost unmatched. As a seasoned session musician he could play any style effortlessly.

One of the greatest guitarists of all time, regardless of genre!

I had forgotten just how beautiful Glen's voice was.

Glen Campbell will always be a musical treasure. Watching and listening to this video is like looking at a precious item that has been stored in a time capsule.

What great song sang by a legend, he really sings it from the heart.

It's amazing how we miss them like crazy when they've gone? But think they're here forever and never ever really appreciate them when they're here! But this gentleman will always be remembered because of his huge talent that he shared with us and we was so lucky here in England 🇬🇧 to have had him grace our stages whilst he toured Britain 🇬🇧 so thank you mr Glen Campbell and may you RIP ALWAYS AND FOREVER YOU WILL NEVER EVER BE FORGOTTEN 🎤🎸

Incredibly, I think this is one of his best performances! I've never seen it before. This is when you truly had, "Star" material as entertainment.

My best friend used to sing this song before he passed. It brings back memories. I look forward to seeing him again and maybe Mr. Campbell too.

She stole my heart , 4ever , when she sang this to me the night of my H S Prom in 1977. Her voice was that of an Angel, and still is . I will always luv & miss you Shanda.

He had such an outstanding voice really, none of the singers we hear lately can hold a candle against him. I had not heard this version of the song but it is great to hear and enjoy.

My mom loved Glen Campbell when I was little and I always had a crush on him. I've also always loved his voice. He was one of my favorites growing up. This is such a great song and he does a beautiful version of it!

Its a rare human that can mute a few chords to where they are barely heard and sing a song along with them through a microphone with the beauty and perfection that is heard in this video.

Another beautiful song I'd never heard Glen sing. This is a simple song yet poignantly beautiful!! Like every note he played, every word he sung, Glen made it look so easy and totally effortless. Such a natural talent! RIP you beautiful man!

Loved this man who shared his talents across America and beyond. Iconic renditions and great hits. He will be sorely missed.

First time I have heard this cover, Glen made it his own for sure. What a set of pipes! He did this in his prime and just is absolutely awesome.

Glen was a monumental talent. Beautiful version of a beautiful ballad. He did a lovely duet with David Gates in 1975 on a BBC TV special that's worth seeing.

As a European, Italian to be precise, Glen was never big here so he is not well known, but I'd like to say what a great person he must have been, not only as a singer but as a man. So many nice people deserved to belong to today and not have left so soon.

That Ovation guitar didn't do any justice to the song. They sound like toy guitars, unless they're plugged into an amp. Then they sound like electric guitars.

David Gates wrote some of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard and no one, including Glen Campbell, could sing them as well as he. I'm a great Glen Campbell fan but David Gates was one of a kind just like Glen was one of a kind.

My sister loved this song growing up. She always played this on her stereo. Listening to this brings back some great memories because my sister past away in 2012 and this song was one she wanted for her wedding when she got married.

I am sorry for your loss. One of my favorite songs too. First time I heard it was watching The Hardy Boys Mysteries in 78 or 79 when I was 13-14. Glen does a good version but David Gates is the master. Thanks for posting this.

I always liked this song, but it never made me cry 'til this. Just love his singing.

I love his soulful voice, but I really like his guitar playing it’s always so spot on, he was a genius I look forward to seeing him again in the new world.

A truly gifted artist not only in his guitar playing but in his vocals as well. I never followed Glen Campbell very closely growing up but am now finding out what I was missing. A true hidden treasure.

I am grateful that I've followed, appreciated and loved Glen through all his years, even the music I'd never known was his backing. Sadly, time flies so fast that it still feels like too many years were taken for granted. Wish I'd had a dose of Glen Campbell every day of my life.

I've grown to know Glen Campbell as a wonderful guitar player, singer and over-all great entertainer. I wish he was still able to be on stage and bringing us such joy.

Glen Campbell, thank you God for Glen. 1st class, always a cut above, he was the American Beatle, at least. But what Glen did in the end, the Beatles nor Elvis fulfiled, and that was to turn to Jesus and be a good example of one forgivin and grateful, to the whole world. The calling he didnt miss.

I've always LOVED this song by David Gates,,, Glen singing it.. puts it OVER the top! I've loved his singing since I was 5, he just keeps pulling at those heart strings.....Don't stop

So glad I learned how truly gifted Glenn was, even if it took me way into my 40's. What a fabulous overall performer. Wow is all I can really say to sum it up.

Glenn is not underrated. Every top guitar player in the world, whether country, pop, rock, jazz or even metal will acknowledge Glenn as one of the best players that ever lived. Ratings among fellow professional musicians are the most valuable recognition.

My dad brougth me up listening to Glen Campbell many other GREAT artist's like him. I'm so glad he did.

Damn! We just lost one of the purest and most sincere voices...one of the most magically and mind blowing guitarist...and one of the warmest and inspiriting entertainers we will ever know. Hiding among the credits, as a session player, he contributed brilliantly to so many one of a kind recordings. As a solo artist, tv host and movie star he shined so incredibly bright as millions welcomed Glen into their hearts and families. Glen Campbell, Thank you! Your light has inspired so many and will continue to do so for so long. "I know I need you more than want you, and I want you for all time..." Adios!

Bread was the only concert I ever went to. I got a backstage pass too and invited to meet David Gates, and his, band but I was only 14 in '77 and a young Christian and thought it wasn't appropriate for me to go but I sure did enjoy their concert...quality music you don't hear these days.
