Born into a family of sharecroppers, Campbell's musical talent emerged early on when he received his first guitar at age four. His move to Los Angeles in the 1960s launched his professional music career as a session guitarist for icons like Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. However, it was his own unique voice that shone through, making him a crossover star with country and pop hits.
In 2011, Campbell revealed his battle with Alzheimer's disease, a progressive condition that eventually ended his musical career. Despite memory challenges, he bravely embarked on a farewell tour to connect with fans one last time. His openness about Alzheimer's raised awareness about the disease and inspired others facing similar struggles.
However, Campbell's passing in 2017 marked the beginning of another chapter-a contentious legal battle over his estate. His will excluded three of his eight children, sparking a dispute over his mental capacity at the time of signing. The children, alleging undue influence, contested the will, leading to years of legal complexities.
The resolution of the dispute in 2018 brought closure to the contested chapter, but questions lingered. Join us as we unravel the intricacies of this musical icon's life, exploring the impact of Alzheimer's on his career and legacy, and the legal challenges that followed. Glen Campbell's journey is a tale of triumph and tribulation, showcasing the resilience of an extraordinary artist and the complexities of legacy planning.
Be sure to watch to the very end to discover interesting details about the controversy.

I had a Goodtime singer girlfriend from 1971-1979. I saw him close up at the International Hotel (now the Hilton) and helped keep his banjo player sober when around during his three month long stays at the hotel. I also delivered music to his house on Mulholland Dr. during the tenure of his Goodtime Hour show. His music arranger, Marty Paich, was the father of Lorrie Paich (Goodtime singer), my girlfriend. Lorrie's brother is David Paich of Toto. I actually got the know his wife (in the 70s) well because she was who I delivered the music to at their home. She was gorgeous and had those first three children, as toddlers, running around. When Glen and Jerry Reed were playing Las Vegas, they'd get "comped" high class hookers every night. That's 90 high class hookers in a row before he went home to his poor wife. Personally, the Glen Campbell I knew was a coke/amphetamine/whore monger (and so was Jerry). But, what's wrong with that as long as it's legal. It's a shame he cut out the first kids because they suffered with his miserable lifestyle as children. He eventually straightened up, otherwise he's have died long before he did. So his legacy was to cut out the kids hurt most by his behavior, not much of a legacy!

By far "Wichita Lineman" is my favorite song, as it is a sentimental song I would sing the lyrics to my 1st wife (RIP). The lyrics I would sing were "I need you more than want you, and I want you for all time..." I never appreciated Glen's music until I was an adult, but Glen was a true artist, and very few could compare to his talent. RIP Glen Campbell.

His wife Kim has zero empathy for his older children, you know, the ones that he was not the best dad to while he went through his cocaine alcoholic womanizing days! Kim’s kids always had it good and didn’t have to deal with that heavy toxicity, but they got their share...Kim’s probably a narcissist! They always push away step kids, they might take a little attention!

So sad that those three children were left out of the Will… no matter what or how distant they become unless they are absolute A/holes they should’ve been considered even by the current wife. It’s not so much about the money as it is that your father didn’t care about you.… I followed Glenn Campbell as a fan for many years. I just can’t imagine he had any nastiness in his bones. He was the sweetest man ever I thought. This might’ve been, some thing his current wife had a lot to do with. Don’t know can’t put blame on anyone. We all need to have our living will in order. Prior to our death, so that there is no nastiness among family members nor hurt feelings. I know personally that this can cause a family departure that never heals. Sadly, God bless you all.

He only left out the older three, so I guess he owed the other five? I bet his wife had an influence on him in his weakened state. I guess Kim had no empathy for his children that he was supposed to be a father figure to at a time when he thought being an alcoholic cokeheaded womanizer was a higher priority. Kim’s kids never were exposed to that father and always had a silver spoon hanging out of their mouth.... Has a touch of narcissism about it...

I love Glen Campbell's "Galveston" due to the mournful, lovelorn anguish of it's central character who's stuck fighting in a war and separated from his love (a girl or the beautiful Texas island?). It's release during the Vietnam war made it all the more appealing as so many were separated from their loved one due to the war, a musical touchstone if ever there was one. It remains mysterious with superb music and lyrics by the great Jimmy Webb who fed Campbell so many great hit songs. It is in its own way most hypnotic. As a post script, Galveston was rated in 2003 the number 8 greatest country music song by Country Music Television (CMT) in it's fan voted rankings.

Glen Campbell, aside from numerous TV specials, also had a couple of successful variety shows in the late 60s to early 70s and another in the early 80s. Glen was upset with them because when he and their mother divorced she got half the income from a publishing company he owned. When she died the children continued to collect this money until Glen and his then wife discovered it and stopped the payments saying the ex-wifes claim on this money died with her. I believe it actually went to court and Glen and Kim got the ex-wifes half back....I think that created an ugly situation between Glen and those (by then adult) children and sometime after that he disinherited them.

Gentle on my mind my favorite song. As far as his kids and the will? there should have been enough money for all , Even if the older kids got less ,they should have got something. I am sure Glen would have wanted it that way. Kim his latest wife was his Queen Bee and it is understandable she got the larger amount.

The lineman may have been my favorite , l watched a video of him with his family on the final tour l guess it was and he was great, when it came time to do the next song he started doing one that had already been sang and when his daughter said Dad we already did that one it tore me up, it's an awful thing for the person and family to deal with

Grew up on his music, heard it on the radio. Now 2023 just turned 60 yrs young,. Watched his final year on tour with his children playing on stage with their father. The plan to end the tour was made that moment his daughter told Glenn he already sung that song.😔😢💔 was a teary moment happening live streamed, his children on stage, his family gathered around their father. The great Rhinestone Cowboy, Glenn Campbell was surrounded by his family. That was his last live performance .. I heard the news of his passing Online Ethernet.
