Nonsense. He was rated correctly. He was never underrated.

I'd give anything to go back to 1977 including the rest of my life.

Everything about this guy and Bread was something very special. Their music is so sophisticated that very few bands could compare to them. Their music is so intricate, yet they make it sound so simple. They were the best.

David Gates is one of my all time favorites. Great voice and great songwriter

David's voice,you can feel his soul in all his songs. Loved the movie, saw it multiple times.I loved The group. growing up I would listen to the greatest hits on my portable player.Still have the album.God🙏Bless you and your wife/family.My husband & I are highschool sweet hearts. We were 16 Now 61 , 45 years together ,grew up listening to the songs ,all have special meaning for us They don't make music like they used too. Sooo glad we grew up in the 70's

My late husband was in the Navy in the 70s when we met,this was our song everything he had to leave,brings back memories of then. Great singer and song writer.

Happy 81st birthday David Gates

The movie was the story of my life with my mom at the time. I watch it every time it's on and it brings back such bittersweet memories. This song always brings me to tears.

One of the greatest singer songwriters from the seventies you will never hear music this good again. All the great songs have already been written sorry for all the new performers

David Gates solo is a pleasure. Gates and James Griffin together equals magic. Especially when you bring in drummer extraordinaire Mike Botts and the musical excellence of Larry Knechtel! Bread remain the finest Soft Rock band ever yet their rocking more uptempo material is criminally underrated.

@@jlockwood65 Like EVERY single Uptempo,"raunchy" Bread song, because they're unfamiliar to the public. Unless you bought the albums and actually listened to to them, youd think Bread was only this bland ballad type band when in fact they had just as many rockers as ballads! LOVE Three Dog Night, by the way!

This is one of my favorite songs ever by Mr. Gates! I'm a big fan of Bread's love ballads.

I used to do a lot of traveling as a kid back and forth between my parents and this song and his other music was great for traveling.

70’s love songs had a big part in who I am as a person. It connected me to my Soul and grounded me there.

Grew up listening to Bread, the Carpenters and other great 70's bands, and had the pleasure of meeting David Gates [he lived next door to some friends of ours in Hidden Hills, CA]. Tremendous singer, will never be anyone like him....

True. Every sound, instrument & Nuance exactly as the Studio Recording. At first I wondered if he was singing LIVE to a Studio backing track, but everything was exactly like it. Not even the finest performers are THAT exact in every detail?
