For all people pointing out the number of frets and other technical issues. Friendly advice for all of you is, if you want to play instrumental music, more specifically, very technically demanding songs, you have to invest some serious money to make it as pleasing as possible. Assohles will try to tell you otherwise, tell you that gear doesn't matter and all that crap. Gear absolutely does matter, your amp matters, your pick matters, all of it.

This is true... If you're not at the songs level, it will be hard to pick it up in a matter of 30 minutes. Hell, it's pretty hard for anyone to pick this song up in that time. I've been putting around 2-3 hours into it a day, almost done getting it completely right after 5 days. It's a matter of how much time you're willing to use, and how much interest you have on learning, not the teacher's fault. +Judson Ruddick

Just use a metronome or use a guitar pro tab and set it low- about 30-40 BPM and loop it- and just sit with it. Then raise the speed incrementally- whatever you're comfortable with, I raise it by 5 BPM after a while. Give it some time. You will get it but you have to sit with it. You'll probably get bored with it after some time but that's to be expected. You'll learn a lot here- especially alternate picking, Petrucci's favourite technique by far.
