The reason why he won the court case was because Land Rover forgot all about the Santana PS-10, a vehicle so similar in aesthetic design even the side door dimensions are identical to the Defender, and the wheelbase is the same as the old-school Series III long-wheelbase. There are very historical reasons why that is the case, however.

There will be an all electric version of this car - at least Ineos is taking registrations for notifications on the electric version.

Axles are proper and by Carraro, Transfer case by Tremec, Frame and suspension development by Magna Steyr and a steering box that won't break your thumbs off-road - done right and then some!

@@randyparmesan1383 The B58 is quickly becoming the new go-to performance engine, tons of people are pushing them to big power and having few problems, at factory power and with decent servicing i bet they'll last decades especially now that they're a few years old and the early problems like turbo seals have been resolved. BMW are also shoving it in everything, which bodes well for the ability to get parts.

Steel wheels dont crack when you are off-road. You can also bang out any dents in them to reseal a tyre.

It's not without its issues, on RHD models the steering damper hangs right down, there's an awkward lump in the driver's footwell, the control arms on the axles are quite short, limiting potential lift, the wheel arches are quite small, limiting tyre size, and you have to be very creative to squeeze in a long range fuel tank (although that last one is probably only an issue for Australians). Despite all of that, I'd take it in a heartbeat over a Cybertruck.

ZF is it's own company not BMW, ZF transmissions details those automotive transmissions created by the German ZF Friedrichshafen AG engineering company.

Yes, but he probably meant that they took the whole drivetrain package from BMW, including their specific ZF 8HP unit and BMW's tuning of it. Which makes a world of difference, actually. I have a B58 + ZF-8 and it is the best drivetrain below higher-level Porsches and other much more expensive cars. Buttery smooth or almost dual-clutch fast, and dead reliable. A Grand Cherokee, for example, also has a ZF-8, but the performance is way worse.

Thanks for the video, I saw one in person,well driving in Oregon. Videos and pictures don't do it justice, seeing it in person was amazing, I haven't been that existed about a new vehicle in a long time.

The Grenadier has a single turbo inline-six, and a de-tuned one at that. The BMW B58, rather than the twin turbo S58 from the M3/M4. In the Grenadier it makes 282 hp down from 380+, it's tuned for more low RPM torque. So it's exactly what you like, an unstressed BMW power unit. The B58 is an amazingly good engine, as most inline-six's are.

I LOVE THE INEOS GRENADIER!!!! I specked one myself on the website and here’s what I did: Trim: Trialmaster which comes with steel wheels standard, a ladder, snorkel, interior compass, and a diff lock i think. Color: Sela Green which is just gorgeous Price for the trialmaster is like $79.4k but with the color I chose that was like $385 I think so it increased it to like $79,770 which is not bad at all

The number of error lights is amazing! I cant wait till Hoovie buys one with all of them lit up!

I own a Grenadier and not having the gauges in front of you gives you a much better view driving. Idiot lights are still in front of you in a small panel but Speedo etc I don’t look at that much anyway so they are not missed being in front of me.

Save your money, its a very disappointing vehicle in many ways, not least the weight and performance plus that interior is terrible quality. Test drove it in the UK and wouldn't recommend it.

Those axles are made by Cararro which is an Italian heavy equipment manufacturer. For a first iteration, the Grenadier is a beast of an off-roader. That vague steering on road is a fantastic thing to have off road since that steering design won’t spin back at you and snap a finger. Mine will be here soon!! 👍🏻😎👍🏻

Toyota is fully committed to hybrid- which is NOT what Grenadier owners want to see. And I don’t exactly see Middle Eastern arms dealers lining up for a LS or Cummins diesel. BMW was a great call as a global platform to serve all markets. Americans buying Bronco Raptors and putting them on 37’s are not their target market - not even in the US.

If you are getting your fingers snapped offroad, you are holding your wheel wrong. Thumbs OUT, along the edge, fingers wrapped on OUTSIDE of wheel not inside. That way if it does counterspin. Your hand gets flung off and out of the way.

I don't understand buying any special edition Tesla. They aren't going to be collector cars. No one is going to be paying insane auction prices for any Tesla 50-60 years from now. They aren't much different than appliances, in my opinion. Very expensive appliances. But its like a refrigerator. You buy it, use it for 10-12 years, if you're lucky, it quits working and you buy another one. I'm in Ohio and I haven't seen a Cybertruck yet. I've seen a ton of Rivians, though.

Absolutely love the interior, that button setup is just freakin awesome.

This is a cool truck, really actually love it. The interior has a nice mix of switches and new things. Exterior is a work of art, looks like a polished version of a GTA car. Only gripe is that there are not analog gauges.

the AC leak under warranty I'm 99% sure is a loose bolt on the manifold where you fill it right at the top of the engine on the right. There have been quite a few leaks all from the same place.

Hey Tyler, in Dallas there was an existing BMW dealership that opened an Ineos arm which has been great. Since the powertrain is BMW it’s easy to get serviced.

Car dealerships always annoyed me but post 2020 they are the absolute worst. They mark up their vehicles big time and worst of all cancel your order or deal because they were able to sell it to someone else for more. Same issue we had with a Toyota dealership over a Rav 4 Prime. We never negotiated on the price. We paid what they asked and on top of that paid an additional $6000 for warranty and extra coverage and what did they do? Cancel our deal because some random customer was willing to pay $1000 more.

I like it! The bmw drive train makes me a little nervous once if it comes off the warranty, but other than that, it's very appealing, and I could use something like this for my family. Unfortunately, we aren't financially stable right now to buy anything without sacrifices that would hurt us. Hopefully, in the near future, good fortune or luck will find my family helping us to be able to afford one of these. Love the model you tested. Thanks for another great informative video!

Opt out you just lose some vehicle features sometimes. Have it turned off in my 2021 Silverado and the wife's 2023 Pathfinder. Doesn't directly say that you can opt out but it's the report feature typically for the manufacturer. I just turn it off and no more selling my information to State Farm or whatever company wants to buy it. I also refuse to subscribe to Onstar and the Nissans whatever and have to turn that off as it's usually enabled by the dealer when you get the "free" trial period. You didn't think they made all the $$ from just subscribers I hope!

I chuckled watching Hoovie wiggling that steering wheel making comparisons to trucks 20-30 years ago. I have a 2000 Ford F250 With leaf springs on all 4 corners and recirculating ball steering box. Anybody that drives these old beast knows that steering is more of a suggestion!

I did too. This is sharp compared to a British army series 2 Land Rover with tall off road tyres. You could swing the wheel 6" either direction without changing course. 70mph on the motorway felt like re-entry in an Apollo. Blurred vision, everything rattling, knobbly tyres screaming. Good times

It reminded me of when Clarkson test drove a F 150 on Top Gear in England. It had a full 1/4 of a turn, before the truck would change direction. And his complaint was They're selling these every 4 seconds! 😂

On a weekend trip to Mississippi and back through Alabama, I saw at least four different Cyber Trucks on I24 on two different car transporters.

Does the AC work? They come from the factory with AC system leaks, usually alloy pipes not welded properly.

The Cybertruck is ugly anyway.

Go for the Ineos! I'm a Brit, but live in Cape Town and last December, deep (and I mean deep) in the bush in Botswana, came across a UK plated Ineos which was being driven around Africa by its owner (having been shipped to Cape Town from the UK). He was really enjoying the vehicle. I've checked one out at our local dealership here in CT and am very tempted as its so much more interesting than the Toyota Prado/Land Cruiser which everyone goes for down here. Also happen to own a 2008 BMW 530D Touring, which has the same engine as the diesel Ineos (well its older cousin) and its a near bullet proof unit.

I just saw a semi hauling 6 cyber trucks yesterday when I was coming home from San Fransisco on Hwy 5.

In Colorado Springs about 2 months ago there were 10-12 at a dealership all sold

BMW B58 and ZF 8 speed is an excellent drivetrain. The B58 even has Toyota’s seal of approval. It is very under stressed if it’s tuned to make under 400hp.

That interior is what i pictured 10 years ago would be the way higher end cars evolved to. Tons of tactile buttons but it looks super modern and you can learn by time to feel the proper switches out instead of losing focus. Steering wheel and ceiling looks absolutely loaded up too with high quality buttons and switches. Only complaint is having the speedometer off on a centre screen. A couple gauges with RPM and speed would've have made this a 10/10 interior. If this was a their first truck i'm seriously impressed. Looks so good on the outside too.

Agreed! A panel belong right in front to reduce angular glare cutting vision and reflecting from external sources. The most obvious poor feature. Very many switches and dials but it is what it is. wouldn't buy one myself.

Also, what you can't see here, is that every button is installed on a 2mm thick aluminium plate that feels very sturdy. Not plastic, but powder coated metal. It's very satisfying to touch. I've test driven one in the UK, the only real awful defect I found is that the right hand drive one have terrible brake pedal placement (the exhaust is in the way). That's only on right hand drive vehicles tho, because the left hand drive is absolutely normal from this point of view. Visibility is fine, everything on it seems very sturdy and overbuilt like you would like on an offroading vehicle, there is already a decent amount of accessories with more to come, I honestly like it. As Tyler said, you can't but a rugged Suv and be surprised when it drives like a rugged Suv.

Love the old school button setup inside. Sure beats the trend where all the controls are within a stupid table slapped on top of the dashboard.

I love these things! I drive past 50+ of these at the local dealer every day on my way to work in Colorado Springs. They all have sold signs in the windows; I think the Grenadier will be wildly successful if they can get dealer infrastructure in place!

I just spotted a Cyber Truck on Facebook marketplace in Tennessee for sale this past weekend. Advertised for $147,000. ONE HUNDRED & FOURTY SEVEN THOUSAND. Absolutely gawwwwd damn ridiculousness.

That is the lowest price I've seen a Cybertruck being resold. A lot of them in both Texas and Cali are being resold for $200k or more.

I still remember my friend, at the time of the showcase, saying these will be affordable ev alternatives to full size trucks. Man I wish I still kept in touch cause I’d love to see his reaction to these prices lol

Here on Texas the BMW dealerships have Ineos. Which makes perfect sense since they have a BMW drivetrains.

We've had our Grenadier for 4 months and absolutely love it!! So many people stop us at the gas station and ask questions about it. We took it on a road trip a few weeks ago and gosh it was surprisingly comfortable up front.... the kids in the back... not so much. That thing is an absolute beast. We are fortunate to have gotten ours from one of the largest dealers in America, Sewell BMW of Plano, and they have been amazing with their support and service.

The Land Rover Defender name applies to vehicles made since 1990. Previous models such as the Series 1 and Series 3 were just called Land Rover.

Yeah where still basically built on the same chassis only real difference was coil springs. They even carried over the hole in the rear cross member from the original Landy so the "farmer" could run a p.t.o to power up farm implements.

The naming convention for the various iterations of the classic “Defender” style vehicle was Land Rover Land Rover Series 2 Land Rover Series 3 Land Rover 90/110 (depending on wheelbase - the numbers referring to this measurement in inches) Defender They’re the model names - there were many variants that added differences into vehicle names. For instance the 5 door version of the ‘80s 110 could be had in County spec, meaning the model name of that variant would be Land Rover 110 County. It’s all very confusing. That’s before various Range Rovers and Discoveries enter the conversation.

As far as i've read, in order to create this car, they went to the best manufacturers in their respective fields, and ordered parts accordingly. For example, the axles are made by Carraro, which is a big tractor manufacturer.

And they went to BMW for an engine????? Was really digging this thing until they mentioned the BMW inline six. Maybe the newer ones have the bugs all worked out, but when BMW first debuted the turbo six about 10-15 years ago it had all kinds of problems. Really I wish they had stuck a Ford "coyote" 5.0 V8 in it. Or a GM "LS" V8 with the cylinder deactivation turned off.

The B58 is a different and much better engine, they are a downpipe and flash tune away from over 400rwhp and have shockingly few known big reliability problems, at the moment the biggest you'll find are valve cover gaskets leaking, the early turbos had bad seals and started burning oil/coolant (fixed by now) and the water pump should be replaced every 100,000km or so. B58s will do 600hp+ at which point you're breaking everything else in the drivetrain, at factory power they will be perfectly reliable.

@@damstachizz I'm still a skeptic, BMW and reliability are like matter and anti-matter. I will give BMW credit, their older naturally aspirated inline 6's from the 80's/90's/00's were pretty damn good except for the plastic bits in water pump/radiator. Just the rest of the car fell apart/shorted out long before it should have.

The grenidier also competes with the Nissan patrol y61 still produced for uae it also competes with the 70series LandCruisers

I have given up on the Elio. It was a great car concept. They took pre-orders but luckily I did not put one down. My goal was to wait until they were out, pay cash for one, and drive it home as a road trip. It never happened.

B58 I believe. One of the best BMW engines made. They learned a lot from the awful N54 and slightly better N55. I do think it is a single turbo not a twin turbo though. Twin scroll maybe.

Living in midwest, I saw a cyber truck first time on the street. My first impression is… like driving a refrigerator on the road. Looking under the sun, body panels are waving… not a truck for me.

the bmw b58 is definitely a good engine for this car, and very reliable compared to the older tubo i6 engines like n54

Larger gas doors are better for filling from a can.

Saw one in Olive Branch, MS this morning

In the UK there has been lots of talk about the Grenadier having disappointing sales but I see quite a lot of them about, though I do a lot of driving in the Peak District so I suppose that's traditionally Land Rover Defender country and the Grenadier is the closest like for like replacement, so if I am going to see them it'll be there!

LCD instrument panels looks cheap, they really should have went the extra mile and put some stepper motors spinning needles and a front lit gauge cluster.

A genuine truck vs. a toaster? Love the Grenadier.

I saw my 1st cybertruck in imperial Beach, CA last week.

Ive been seeing Cybertrucks more and more often here in Colorado, There is one at the Tesla Dealership in my town for sale its been there for like a month now.

I live in San Jose, California and around the Bay Area, Mountain View, and Sunnyvale. There are hundreds of cyber trucks. You see them all day every day driving around.

Agree with a lot of what you said, but I am of the opinion that dealership networks are anti-consumer. They try to squeeze as much money out of you as possible. To us normal folk, thousands of extra dollars is a lot of money. However, I do think there should be a middle ground; being able to order cars online for cheaper, but if you want the dealer experience, you can go pay extra to experience that.

Also, anti right to repair is insanely anti consumer. When products are deliberately made in such way that only a dealer can repair it.

I saw a Cybertruck in Ocala, FL a few days ago at a Supercharger.

Cybertrucks are all over the roads here in San Diego. Don't buy one. It's not worth it. However, in about 5 to 10 years when their "stainless steel" panels are all rusty, THEN you can buy one as a hooptie.

There are 5 Cybertrucks at the dealership in KC right now. Just give them a call.

Cybertrucks are all over here in So Cal. First one I saw was at manheim auction a few weeks ago. Someone I know was by san bernandino and saw 6 driving together in a group😂.

I'm very interested in the Grenadier -- can't wait to see how they hold up compared to the old Defenders.

There’s a few in Jersey. Haven’t seen it in person but I’ve seen pictures. Probably because there’s a massive Tesla shop in Brooklyn

I like the Grenadier. But I do wish they had a short wheelbase 2 door version and a manual transmission version. The full sized Grenadier is just too big (long) for European parking garages.

Yes, and he wasn't impressed with it at all, it's pretty flawed when compared to the new GX550 which is about the same price

One thing I hate with new age cars is lack of a center cluster screen. I don’t want to look over to my radio to see my speed. So silly. I’ll take it a step further too, I kind of miss I’ll school analog tach/speedometers. The new digital clusters are cool and configurable, but man do I miss real gauges with a little screen in between the two to display things like distance til empty, mpg, mileage, etc.

A lot of folk who have driven this have commented on how there is little to no self-centering action to the steering, to an extent that unless you make positive effort to unwind lock when you come out of a corner, the car will just keep going round!!

I owned one since last June and trust me it’s no issue , after a day behind the wheel your brain works it out , same can be said for the offset Speedo (genius idea ) even the hump in the floors right hand drive users , let’s not forget all autos have a hump !! I love my truck , guessing they now arrive with the distaste update all corrected to stop the various random warning lights popping up. If own one and still have bleeps and lights then you need to insist the dealer does the update , tip , they’ll need ya spare key to complete the upgrade . Thanks Sir Jim way better truck than my rusting around the windscreen 2018 G wagon.

theyre in pa. atleast 5 went through my job at manheim auction. have also seen one driving on the road with non dealer plates.
