Giving an Old Skateboard a New Life

In this video I give an old skateboard a new life. The skateboard was recovered from a house fire that was started from a lightning strike. I purchased it from an auction where all the proceeds were donated to the family whose house burned down.
Previously in this video: • Skateboard Restoration... I recreated a new deck and discarded this deck. But I wanted to preserve this awesome piece of history.
First, I started by building a form to pour the epoxy in. I made 2 mistakes. I should have sealed the wooden deck to prevent air bubbles and also I forgot to use mold release tape. This caused me a lot of extra work and hours to correct, SO DON’T FORGET THE MOLD RELEASE!
Once I got the shape cut out and sanded it was time for a final top coat of epoxy then an epoxy spray to seal the whole thing and provide a nice shine. I found an electric skateboard conversion kit online and thought it would be perfect for this project.

Brilliant in many many ways ... I've considered epoxy for a while.... Reconsidering it now because your video was honest , showed the probs and mistakes , it's an expensive thing to get wrong , not like a coat of paint , however you rescued yours wonderfully and it came out great , the motor was a brilliant addition !!

Damn that was badass.
Did they have it hanging on the wall?? That's the only thing I can think of for it to have nails in it for. That's why you should have used mold release so maybe the next time. If you ever do something like that again seal the wood before putting it in resin you wouldn't have the air bubbles. Cool project it looks sweet Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up

@@DrRestoration Facebook Marketplace has tons of band saws for cheap. For 200 or less you can get a decent saw
