I love Guyana. I went to Guyana two times in Georgetown and even though their is a lot of stereotypes of drug abuse and crime in Guyana as portrayed by the media, it is far more than that. Guyana is a melting pot of culture, with astounding cuisine and a rich history and a mix of religions. To the north you got rapid expanding metropolitan areas with ever-expanding industry, amazing nightlife and hustling markets. to the south you have endless miles of untouched rainforest, concentrated biodiversity and iconic landscapes like Kaieteur falls and numerous indigenous communities. Love to our Caribbean brothers and sisters in this diverse, Beautiful South American country that is so demographically, culturally and geographically related to our Nation. Love from Trinidad and Tobago!!🇬🇾✨🇹🇹

The (Caricom) Caribbean community is like one nation separated into islands and these Guianas. Trinidadian and Guyanese people are genetic cousins that transferred back and forth between mainland and the islands. This is the case for the majority working under various wealthy families and companies. Most people in the Anglophone Caribbean share the same family lines that are connected by native American indigenous blood. This is why anyone living in these nations for multiple generations can be linked genetically on an ancestry DNA test. This goes mostly for the African slaves and Asian/European indentured servants

Co co boy I am from Guyana and have been watching you since you were in Sri Lanka. You are showing the worst parts of our country. Guyana has many beautiful and upscale housing areas. The country is below sea level and some of the drainage and open canals you see are not sewage but to drain off the water from flooding. Please get a guide to show you around and explain the history and culture of the country. Your review has been very harsh and makes us seem backward. Most Guyanese survive on multiple incomes and we have a high home ownership rate. Wodemaya was here for a short time and did a great job. Get a tour guide please.

The ocean water is murky because of all the silt and sediment originating thousands of miles away. It is carried by South America's rivers that empty out onto Guyana's Atlantic coast. The ocean waves push the silt and sediment back towards the coast creating the mud flats. It may not be aesthetically pleasing but the water is not filthy. It is very rich in organic matter and produces a fertile coast. When you were there, the tide was out so it was super muddy. When the tide is coming in, you can absolutely walk or swim in the water (still brown but not as muddy).

Coco boy, please do your research about a country before you visit. PlEase get your facts straight..that beach you say is nasty, for fyi that is the Atlantic ocean reason for the color of the water, secondly our sewage is underground , the trenches and canals were built by the dutch to take off the rain water. Guyana costal plain is below sea level, so it wouldn't flood. The walls ate to kerp the sea out. And please change your title. Dont think you can come here and try to pimp us, you better be careful of your content narrative.

Karen girl...I hope you realize that georgeown does not have a sewerage treatment facility, and ALL of its sewerage is let out into the ocean at the exact same point behind the mariott. What they call the jetty is actually a concrete box holding a large pipe that goes out into the ocean and discharge the sewerage. So the man might be right.....and the yellow tinge he saw could very well be remnants of the curry powder.

@@karenwhitney4585 -- yes he was calling the drains 'sewerage". I don't completely fault him as his use of english/vocab is not too great. But I can tell you, I just came bk from guyana...and all the garbage goes into the trenches and canals and seadams. The trenches stink from a distance. Everywhere I went, from Essequibo coast to GT, was stink. I grew in e/bo and GT. Forty years ago we could have swam in any trench, and on the Kingston seawall. NOT NOW. People are afraid to even touch the water. People refuse to eat the abundance of fish in the canals of GT. Watch that video again and see the thick, musky, dirtyness of the Kingston water. Even the silt that was left on the seashore had a nasty, dangerous color/look to it. As a youtuber, the man reports how he sees it. And I like that. Right or wrong, it is his perception and his honest viewpoint. I rather an honest report, as opposed to someone trying to sugar coat things. If the drains look and smell like sewerage, call it sewerage.

The beaches of Guyana are brown and muddy due to our 3 massive rivers leading out to sea. The tidal changes are so aggressive between high and low tides that erosion is prevalent along the river banks leading to turbidity and the muddyness you see.

I have to be honest this is a one-sided inaccurate depiction about Guyana. Guyana is a rapid-developing economy with the fastest growing economy in the world. Guyana like every other country has it struggles, regional inequality and voting bribery, but when you compare it to your nation Israel, you have a government that is completely reliant on the US, A state that was only created 75 years ago and denies its own atrocities of oppressing and destroying whole Palestinian communities while ya travel. up to 30,000 gone by the idf and i dont think thats the same extremity that guyana has. stop portraying the Caribbean in a way that its a hostile, carnage-ridden, crime capital of the world as it is far more than that. peace

Bro, the countryside is much safer than Georgetown. Georgetown should be avoided. Demerara-Mahaica is a better area. You also should check out the interior of the country and Shell Beach

Bro tip for future. The security guard for the light house would of let you go in if you had turn the camera and offered him some money. But because you offered the money with the camera running you blew your chance. So next time turn the camera off and pay your bribe and they will even allow you to take a picture with the president!😂

It is crazy to see how Guayana has changed. When I left , a loaf of bread was $1.14 , a bottle of Pepsi was 50 cents and Georgetown was like a beautiful garden . I went to Christ Church primery , then to St Johns college. Had wonderful memories in my country, sad to see it this way.

This man is very ACCURATE! What you see right now, in the matter of a few years with the right government it WILL BE. Because right now. No one ever says “they want to go to Guyana”. And I’m Guyanese and know this very well. & yes 6 different races that no one sees when they come. But I hope this will change soon! And I believe it will.

I've been to Guyana several times. Fruites are cheap however they quickly observe foreigners and your price will go up. Women are very open minded and will throw themselves at you if you're a foreigner. You got to be careful and not draw unwanted attention. But generally it is one of the most beautiful places you will ever find.

Yes, the title is controversial. But the guy in the lighthouse could have explained why he can't. Tbh, the drains are not clean daily and too much trash. He is telling the truth. He should have been told it's not a beach. It's the ocean. The lesson here is don't go to someone's country without research.

Coco, that's not sewerage. That's our drainage canals built by the Dutch to drain water off the land when it rains. Guyana is six feet below sea level and would flood if those canals are not there. Educate yourself first before you make ignorant comments. 😢
