The women at the market did not explain well what the leaves are for ;you Cook the leaves in a pot and you they yoni steam with it.WHEN THE WATER IS WARM THEY SIT ON TOP OF THE POT (A SPECIAL POT THAT THEY USE ONLY FOR YONI STEAMING.)

Hindi in Suriname is only spoken during religious ceremonies. The language spoken by the indo Surinamese is called Sarnami.

Indians in jamaica and the other Caribbean countries like Guyana still listen a hindi mix soca music called chutney. So yes they understand hindi. They probably can't speak fluent but understand well. Most of there great grand and grandparents were straight from India. They say alot of words still that are entirely hindi amongst themselves.

In Suriname, they no longer speak the pure language of their former sub-area in India. but a Surinamese variant of it is called Sarnami-Hindustani.
