Give Great Voice - the remarkable power of tone and intent | Tasia Valenza | TEDxLaSierraUniversity

In this moving and tip-filled TEDxTalk, Tasia Valenza shares how your superpowers grow when you focus on the tone and intent of your voice.
Tasia Valenza is an EMMY-winning voice actress. For over 35 years, she has voiced thousands of commercials and narrations and brought to life some of our most iconic animated and video game characters. Tasia Valenza is an EMMY-winning voiceover artist, actress, and motivational speaker. Renowned for voicing iconic female characters in video games and animated television shows, such as the seductress Poison Ivy in the Batman: Arkham Series, General Doza in Star Wars Resistance, Shaak Ti in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Sniper Wolf in the fan-favorite Metal Gear Solid games; Tasia voices countless commercials, animated series, video games, narrations, promos, and radio imaging. These experiences inspired the creation of #GiveGreatVoice, a platform that encourages confident, considerate verbal communication.
Additionally, Valenza has co-created and voiced a free-to-use, science-based affirmation meditation app, Haven, with the hopes of helping people rewire their brains for peace of mind. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

It's been a life long passion of mine to use my voice to move, inspire, and touch people, first as an actress and now as a voice actress, and speaker. This Tedx Talk gave me the opportunity to fulfill a life long love of "Giving Great Voice and be able to teach what that means to all who wish to learn with me. It is an honor and a privilege to share it with you.

Tasia, you are such a superstar!!! I absolutely loved your speech and really felt the empowerment and the emotions towards the end with your passion and love for your mother. She is up in heaven smiling saying, "That is my girl!!!" and is so proud of you. I can tell you really prepared well for this TED Talk and it was great to see your ability to get the people in the crowd and say "I AM COURAGEOUS! I AM CONFIDENT! I AM LIKEABLE AND SO MUCH MORE!" That is so incredibly powerful and not something I have seen before in other Ted Talks. You did such a fantastic job and I am very proud of you!!!! You go, Tasia!!!!!!

We forget how important actually speaking is -- calling, instead of texting or just sending an emoji or GIF. Tasia is passionate about using our voices to truly express ourselves in so many ways. Things that just can not be communicated in a text -- intent, power, feeling.

Not only did your TedX Talk demonstrate a wonderful use of "voice" but it also powerfully illustrated the importance and impact of "body language". One cannot understate the importance of body language in communication. It represents more than 50% and half of that occurs in the face and hands. You nailed it! Thanks Tasia.

This is such an inspirational talk. It touched my heart and spoke to me on several levels. Most of the time, we do not speak to ourselves or our loved ones in the way they deserve to. Our voice remains unspoken, and the message is never heard. I love the way Tasia gave the message that we need to give a great voice to our message and let our loved ones know that we care for them because when the moment is gone, it will never come back, and the message will never be conveyed. Thank you for such a great talk, Tasia. You are truly an inspiration.
