It's not so secret with smoke from the vent and trail leading to the door. A drone would pick that thing out in seconds. The rain will wash the soil out of the sod hatch and there will be a rectangle of dead grass showing. There is the mention of lack of tree roots which is totally true. you'd have to share the space with snakes and rodents. Cute idea but not realistic. People who buy into this might also be interested in ocean front property in Arizona.

I had a dream as a young kid of digging a basement in my parents' backyard with just a shovel. Needless to say I gave up after getting a small area dug down to about 6 inches or so, but this girl has managed to complete the job I failed to do all those years ago. Kudos to her! EDIT: Just to be clear, whether or not she actually did this all on her own and regardless of what tools were used, it's still a cool little secret area that's worth admiring.

I'd feel soo at home inside one of these while some ppl wouldn't be able to handle a lifestyle like this. Sleeping at night you couldn't feel any safer then being underground. Plus it's cooler in summer and warmer in winter ,you just can't go wrong with this. I notice how you carefully choose your areas also, Soil type is a very important factor in doing this. Seems you have been hollowing out many Clay Dirt type areas which is also perfect for what you're doing. You're very talented, great work!

the reason more people don't do it this way is because this only lasts until it rains. One shower and this turns into a swimming pool not a bunker. This is a very impressive style of doing things to us westerners but When I was deployed we saw this kind of thing rather often. They are short term low effort shelters. If I had to take a stab at it based on what I see here, this is in California since there are no rocks and no ground water. Even the dirt 10 feet down is dry. Where i live you can't go 6 inches without have water. You break the grass you end up in mud.

When I was in monstrous ‘Half-Ironman’ condition, I estimated with unlimited water and healthy food on hand, I could dig out, at best, a cubic foot of earth every minute, continuously. Not counting the fine beveling out of the chimney and carefully built door, that’s around 5 hours you would have to spend. Also good planning and adaption would be a must. So realistically, a full day would be set aside to pull this off. You might run into a fair number of underground critters, too, so you’d have to prepare for that. Not saying it is impossible, but it’d be dam hard.

In the summer of 1972, when I was 12, me and two of my buddies that lived next door decided to dig a tunnel to connect our houses just in case of a nuclear war. We went out to the backside of his house and started digging straight down. Went down 8’ and shored it all up with 4x4”s like a mine shaft, and then started digging toward my house. We made it about 6’ before his mom decided to see what the hell we’d been doing out in the yard all week. Well, pretty soon all the parents were involved and they just didn’t see the value of a secret underground passage between our houses, nuclear war or no nuclear war. They made us cover the hole with plywood and bury it up. There’s still an 8’ deep shaft under that rotting piece of plywood, and I’ve often wondered if anyone ever fell into it. Lol.

@@MAYURPATIL-zx1nz Times have sure changed. I’m so grateful that I grew up before the internet. At the time it seemed like we were always bored, but we were always hanging out with our friends, all day, every day, all summer long. “What do you wanna do”? “I don’t know, what do you wanna do”? “There’s nothing TO do”! And then…we’d always go out and find something to do. Sometimes we’d hike down to Coyote Creek and catch crawdads, sometimes we’d just go down to the school and play baseball, and sometimes we’d really get ourselves into trouble, but we always had fun. I would incorporate Stone into this too, like where you have your little stoves so that you do not have to be almost laying your food on dirt. If you have access to a cliff side or even near a river you can find a stone slab for stove or counter surface, or from a river just a bunch of stones and put them all together to form the area.
The kind of soil she has over there is very conducive for dugout shelters. Its soft yet its hard enough to maintain its integrity. As we can see, the work to do it is intensive! She definately has my respect!!

They pretend to be primitive, but actually use power equipment. It's like p*rn. There's a director and a guy behind the camera, as well as a crew to speed up the process. The brains behind it all is someone knowledgeable on primitive methods, but ultimately it's so misleading, I feel sorry that yo believe it. It's like believing step p*rn is real. The worst part is they use s*x appeal with the main actor who isn't dressed appropriate for the labor, and clearly does not have the physique or scars to prove it.

It's fake. Do you really think she dug that whole out quickly and there was hardly any dirt outside the hole? Ever dug a hole. There would have been a big hill of dirt outside the hole. She was barely dirty. I think some people came in and dug it and they have clips of her digging to make it appear as though she did all that. I'd say the same thing if it was a man. It's just not realistic. A hole like that would take a long time to dig even for an experienced person. Nothing like the video implies.
