    Like someone else said, most of the time your videos are satire. They’re ironically meta, and don’t make a lot of sense. I never really pondered on whether Ging was a good father or not, never really found it interesting, but in this video I got introduced to a topic and convinced about that same topic. I think that not having a father figure in your early life isn’t the best, but it teaches you to be independent. Independence is a key skill you need later on, and independence isn’t something easy to teach your children. Gon went on a scavenger hunt, became a hunter and found his father by himself. He made friends with all his current companions, gained their trust and further progressed to their goals. Ging set this up for Gon, but didn’t hold his hand the entire time, which taught Gon to be independent, So I’m still wondering how in the fuck do people still thing Ging is a bad dad?

  • @nandagirish3555

    @nandagirish3555

    There was no way ging could've predicted he would have gone on a "scavenger hunt" and made friends. Gon could've very easily died in the hunter exam without any help from his dad or his friends. Ging could've even visited Gon every now and then, yet he chose not to - leading Gon to pursue a hunter life either way (since the only reason Gon wanted to become a hunter was due to Ging abandoning him) - and in such a way took away his choice for living a normal life anyways. Overall it's a decent take but I don't agree that Ging leaving Gon gave him a good choice and also comparing hunters to the top 1% (and saying that leaving Gon gave him a chance to work hard) is a false equivalence. Also those saying "parents should not abandon ANY of their hopes, dreams and desires to raise a child" are themselves unfit to be parents (being a parent come with sacrifices - you can't turn up home drunk and late every night - regardless of how much you might want to). Whilst Ging did put Gon out of harm's way, it only served to make Gon a hunter, and Ging did not give 2 shits when Gon was on the verge of death - which is indicative of bad parenting. Neither is the fact that Ging not teaching Gon about nen saying anything about promoting equality. Since not only does the hunter exam have nen users and a matter of life and death (not just money), Ging could just as easily help other candidates (both evening the playing field and avoiding nepotism). Ultimately nen abilities are the product of the user anyways so why does teaching about nen or "teaching about how to become a hunter" become a question of nepotism anyway - nen is indicative of skill not who you know (I don't get why Boruto is mentioned here either since Naruto exposed him and didn't teach him some super secret jutsu to give him an unfair advantage (or even forced him to follow in his footsteps) if anything being related to Naruto has only brought Boruto disappointment rather than success). Even if your someone who says "just because someone is your relative they don't owe you success" you should atleast agree that they owe you safety - something which Ging jeopardised by not teaching his son. There is a fundamental difference between giving you relatives top position just because the are your relatives (regardless of them being competent for the role) and teaching your children skills that could potentially save their lives. I became convinced that this video is satire once he used the example of Lavar Ball, yet ranted about nepotism and parents not giving their kids a choice less than a minute prior. TLDR: this video is a satire, and whilst Ging isn't the best of fathers, he is a chad sigma male.

    Ging did all he could for gon considering how his situation was but i would definitely not say he is a good father. Considering how rich and influencial he is , he could have easily been more present in his son's earlier years and putting his "hunting job" on hold for a while at least until gon is not a child anymore , but instead he chose his passion of being a hunter over his son . And that is very selfish of him , especially considering that HE HAD THE CHOICE of bringing a child into this world , if he knew how selfish and zeroed in he was on being a hunter , why bring a child into this world in the first place just to put the responsability of raising him on your family? Ging himself acknowledges this in the recording that he left for gon , he is not a good fit for being a father.

    A lot of people who say Ging is a bad father are people who have only seen the 2011 anime, which changed the conversation between Mito and Gon when Mito confessed that she made Ging give Gon up. By the time Gon was born, it’s safe to assume that Ging was both extremely wealthy and widely influential. He had connections across the planet that respected him for his work in numerous fields of achievement. All of this was possible because he became a Hunter, and I think that Togashi had the intent of making Ging a model Hunter. But hunter’s must always be pursuing something, and that often means danger, which simply isn’t suitable for baby Gon and Mito knew this. tl;dr Ging isn’t a bad dad. But idk if I could call him a good father either.

    @@iknowwatdadogdoin5454 Big facts! People treat Mito like she's a saint when she literally kept this man from raising his own child and made him give Gon up! Plus, she lied to him for years, telling him that his parents were dead just so he would never ask anything else about them. She painted the same man who used to go looking for her when she got lost in the woods, and brought her back safely like he was a heartless deadbeat when she's the one who pushed him away, assuming that he would never be fit to raise his own child. Now, granted Ging's lifestyle is not ideal for a child, and he decided to leave Gon with Mito and concede to her wishes, but that's a good thing since he gave Gon the power to choose the life he wants. Compare him to Silva Zoldyck who barely spent time with his son, threw Killua into a dangerous and very sinful lifestyle without giving the kid any say in the matter, and is always manipulating the poor kid into thinking he actually gives a damn about what he wants to do in life when in reality he wants his son to live the life he chose for him. I feel like people paint Ging as a bad dad because they have their own unresolved issues with their own fathers and are assuming he's like their own deadbeat dad when that is far from the case with Ging. If he was truly a deadbeat and didn't care about his son, he wouldn't leave items for Gon to use when he becomes a hunter (that Mito tried hiding from the kid, by the way). He wouldn't show Razor how much faith he had in his son. He wouldn't have sent Kite to Whale Island in the first place at a time he KNEW Gon would be old enough to comprehend the information being given to him if he were to ever run into Kite. He kept his eye on Gon for years after deciding to leave Gon in the care of his cousin and grandmother and letting the kid grow healthy and strong first naturally in a safer setting. He is an innocent man!

    Im curious what others think about Ging when considering the possibility of the old 'pregnancy stone' theory/head canons? Not arguing its a fact, but merely suggesting if one hypothetically accepts this premise and reasons from there, would it change one's imagine of Ging? Would that make it better, worse, no different? Maybe it depends on how far down the rabbit hole one goes... I mean, we could argue theres no difference, all parental standards and expectations apply, a child is a child. Some might argue "a son needs his father, cloned or otherwise". But in a fictional reality with nen i cant help but feel like it muddies the water for me conceptually, and when coupled with the idea that Gin is one of the highest aura potentials around (top 1%er like the video said basically) and would know that his clone would have similar potential. One might also assume that one's clone would take after a subject more than a typical child born of 2 random strings of dna from 2 doners that were mixed. not to argue nurture v nature... id say its both in tandem but in HxH there seems to be a heredity for aura capacity or potential to consider as well. Hard to say how much that might play into gons direction and development, but its easy for Ging to assume he would share some similar traits at a young age, despite diverging the more they amass unique experiences. One could also say the act of making such a clone would be haphazard, arrogant, maybe even immoral. "Hmmm, think ill make a mini me with this card and see how it turns out!" as if it began as an experiment or something. That sounds bad from a certain point of view, and yet when thinking about it, its not uncommon or much different from how some people reproduce irl... PS GI cards are insane and shouldnt exist lol. I mean, in general when u read the list its a few practical cards, a few end game uber cards, along with quite alot of weirdness, and a looong list of boring skillups cards. Who would go to such lengths to make greed island and all these advanced rules, then one of the first restricted cards you come up with is a card that lets you to spawn life, your very own nen clone... just what everyone always wanted amiright?! Such an obscure wacky idea. Silly Togashi...

I believe my father is weak, when I found out, I got mad. How could he do that? With time, that made me grow as a person, the pain made me realize the meaning of actions and self controll and lidership, especially in my family. I must admit I like my father, he made me grow even thought he isn't a good person. I like him and that we are like legs and arms, I needed to understand his weakness to overcome myself. @@whenallelsfails21 yes i fully agree on what you are saying but Ging predicted everything about Gon since his birth. he was confident that his son will somehow survive and finally meet him.

    Ging isn't anywhere near the worst, but I wouldn't call him a good father at all. He's an adult Gon who never grew up.

    Nah I'm sorry fam Ging is a trash father. He could have at least some form of communication with his son. No phone calls, no letters. Just a vauge promise of "if u want to meet me u must first become me". Good video but u gotta acknowledge there's a middle ground between occasionally spending time with your son and turning him into spoiled rotten Kardashian type

    People never understood Ging's character like.. at all. That's the problem with hxh fandom throwing shit at probably the most important character of the entire anime. The guy literally has the highest status in the world of hunters... do people really think someone like Ging will be a stay at home dad? He's busy doing probably some of the most important jobs that could be done out there, all while leading the path and giving his son the choice to be a hunter or stay in the island forever. Mentioning he also left Gon to someone he really knew was going to raise him properly is also something that people just overlook. I also hear the "he didn't visit his son at the hospital" argument all the time too... bitch! Gon would've hated Ging forever if he went to visit him because all what Gon have gone thru til that point would've been in vain.. Gon wanted to find his dad, not have his dad come to him! Besides Ging had so much faith in his son he was sure that he wasn't going to die, that's why he didn't visit him either. Let's remember Togashi likes to exaggerate some of the characters intelligence and ability to predict future events, Ging always knows what's going to happen and mapped the entire journey for Gon until greed Island, the guy is one of the most intelligent humans on earth otherwise he wouldn't be called one of the best hunters in the world.
