Crazy watching Marss adapt to Asimo and almost get there but damn, Asimo is just too strong.

Asimo's disadvantage separates him from most shoto players. He is really good at mixing up his recovery offstage. Marss played really good but Asimo's fireballs and bairs just kept marss out.

Mmm if you watch a lot of Marss competitive sets, I don't think you'd confidently say he "played really good" lol. Marss IS really good, but he didn't PLAY really good (for his level) here. BUT that takes nothing away from Asimos, you gotta be REALLY good to beat Marss

2022 has really been the year of Ryu. Ryu representation is so good lately that i feel like top players are going to have to actually learn the Ryu MU. Not the "I know the Terry/Ken MU so it's prretty much the same" but the RYU matchup

Characters that are more grounded and focused on microspacing tend to give better than average opportunities to parry.

Glad to see Japanese players coming to play. They’re pretty good. 👍🏼

It’s crazy how undeniably good Asimo is. Literally no one does it like he does.

How do you properly DI boost kick? Are you supposed to hold a different direction during the first initial upwards hits, and then a different direction for the last sideways hit?

Great to see Asimo unlocking the true potential of Ryu. People might forget that Ryu got some good buffs over the course of Ult’s patch notes. He’s no longer a footnote in Ultimate’s roster

Ryu is lowkey really strong, it just takes a lot of time to learn his things. Which is why, post quarantine era, there have been a few emerging, like him and Ikan to name a few

He was trying to catch Ryu jumping in with an aerial after pressuring/poking on the ground with Zair. Since Ryu and Ken can get alot off of jump in aerials.

Asimo baited it out by jumping in, so marss tried to stuff out what he thought was an edgeguard with an up b. asimo faded back though, causing it to whiff. it wasnt exactly a bad option, but asimo was totally ready for it

Great play by Asimo. I do have to say I hate the way ZSS plays after her nerfs. There is no more ability to mix it up. Have to play midrange and safe now. Designers really forced her into the least entertaining version of herself with the nerfs.

I don’t Ken’s Fiery Shoryu is proximity based. I think you heavy/hold press the button.

Great set 👏. This is some of the smoothest Ryu play I've ever seen--love Asimo's patience. Marss is annoying as hell, but I respect the mental fortitude he showed bringing it to game 5--always like to see him go down though. ;)

I felt like the commentators were making conscious effort to acknowledge asimo's skill, but as the set progressed you could hear them slowly get more and more biased for marss. I get that they know marss better but still it kinda sucks to hear biased commentary in such a great set

Ryu can touch you 3 times in neutral and you're in kill percent, meanwhile ZSS is mostly just little pokes and mobility, of course he's going to camp him out

Marss kinda played like garbage. Usually he has those edge guards on point but I’m not even sure he edgeguarded the shoto once
