GIMP Tutorial - [ GIMP 2.10 Change Colour Tutorial ]
In this video tutorial, I will show you how to change the colour of content in an image using GIMP 2.10 Foreground Select Tool.
The foreground select tool is great when you want to make a quick selection inside an image using GIMP.

Foreground Select tool - This tool lets you extract the foreground from the active layer or from a selection. It is based on the SIOX method (Simple Interactive Object Extraction).
The creation of a selection with this tool works in a couple of steps:
1. Roughly select the foreground you want to extract. When you select this tool, the mouse pointer goes with the lasso icon. It actually works like the Fuzzy Select tool. Select as little as possible from the background.
As soon as you release the mouse button, the non selected part of the image is covered with a dark blue mask. If the selection is not closed, its ends will be linked automatically together by a straight line. The mouse pointer goes now with the Paint-brush icon for the next step.
2. Draw a line through the foreground: using the paintbrush, whose size can be changed in options, draw a continuous line in the selected foreground going over colours which will be kept for the extraction. The colour used to draw the line is of no importance; not using the same colour as the foreground is better. Be careful not painting background pixels.
3. When you release the mouse button, all non-selected areas are in dark:

Hello. What if I colored the selected area but then I want to smoothly delete the half of it? For example, I did some changes to a photo with ground, I made the ground closer to my feet greener, but i want to keep the brownish hue closer to the mountains behind me, is there a smooth way to do it? Thanks.

I see everything is being applied directly to the Image Layer. Is it also possible to keep the Shodow-Highlight or Exposure or Saturation effect on a separate layers staked on top of each other? I mean what if I need to go back and tweak again? Thanks in advance.

Hue and saturation does not work with white or black colours, you would need to give the selection some colour first then use the hue adjustment tool

If you're using the new version of Gimp, then you have to press on the icon to select other options for that type of style tool

Didnt work for me. Ive tried nunerous times and every time i do the foreground, hit enter, and select the paint tool, it deletes everything

You would need to use this process but make the selection a layer mask and use that layer mask(s) to mask the feather pattern
