Giant Bullfrogs for Bait Catch Monster Fish

It seems that even river monsters enjoy eating frogs! In this episode I throw some big bullfrogs into the river and catch some truly big fish.

Thanks for being a reasonable animal love and realizing we all have a role on this earth and if humans didn’t kill for food or use smaller animals for bait the populations WOUKD get out of control and would cause lack of food which in turn caused malnutrition and disease Some animal lover think we can just eat soy and not kill cows , deer elk etc hunters. Responsible hunters actually an essential part of animal health and overall happiness

Your love for the fish is what sets you apart from many and I just applaud you for inspiring other to fish myself included. I got a GoPro cause of your videos and I have around 7 fishing trips I've recorded but don't have anything on youtube yet. Nice gar! You feel earn more respect form them when they fight back that for sure. I've had my leg and finger almost bit (got my glove luckily) because they move sooo quick. I've used all the hooks as well, and tin my opinion the safest way for the gar is to set early. So many people just let them run for 5 minutes and swallow it.

As a teenager, is the last time I ate alligator gar in South Texas. It was a treat when our 2nd cousin caught a few and shared with my parents. Kids didn't worry about swallowing bones. He carried a ball-peen hammer on boat, to immobilize them before boating them... I once caught an alligator gar on a catfish trotline in Oklahoma, but my brother-in-law quickly released it. To him, it wasn't edible.

Dead bait fishing is effective enough and there is no need for alive fishing with also having the options of using lures. Thank you.

Like you said, a lot goes into it. But the simplest pattern you're looking for is the initial run, then a pause, then a change of direction. Set it on the change of direction. There are always exceptions to this, but that's the ideal scenario.

@wildlife3267 I'm from Central Minnesota. I've gotten almost 90 inches of snow since October 1st. I absolutely 💯 agree with you that Alligator Gar needs to protected much better. Bowfishing gar needs to end and size slot limits needs implemented as well like 25-40" gar you can keep but less than 25" or greater than 40" the fish must immediately be released unharmed. All native fish needs to be protected much better especially the ones that are the most vulnerable (fish that takes years to reproduce).

People think bowfin are snakeheads and therefore highly invasive that eats all the game but they don't. They are an apex predator that's important for our lakes and rivers and the same goes for bullhead as well. Bowfin has been around hardly unchanged for at least 100 million years. They're a beautiful that I appreciate a lot like all fish I catch

We used to use frogs as catfish bait in the river. We caught more catfish on smaller "spring frogs", and way too many gar on bullfrogs. I know other people like to catch them, but I would pay extra not to have to mess with gar.
