I have come to realize that we have a certain percentage of the population who are absolutely miserable and unhappy in their lives and whose goal in life is for everyone else to be that way, too. Seeing someone who looks happy is the worst thing that can happen to them and they feel that joy demands immediate extinguishing.

I had an incident at a public lake in my area (keep in mind this lake is well known for catching massive walleye, crappie, bass, and catfish) so it’s no secret that you can fish there. A Karen came up to me and told me I couldn’t fish in the lake so of course I was dumbfounded by her stupidity and let her know about it too. Best Game Warden story. A friend of mine lives near the river. a wild goat wandered into his pen one day. He taped a strong light between the horns. that night he hog tied the goat out in an open field, with a small rope he could pull to release it. He asked a friend to report someone "spotting" deer at night to the game warden. When the warden arrived and started walking into the field once he saw the light, he pulled the rope and released the goat. The Warden chased that goat all night.

So a certain lake is full of Smelt but it's illegal to net them in the lake or the creek that pours into it. There is a big Walleye tourney there every year and guys try to drive up with live Smelt but they don't travel well. So rumor has it a couple of local boys stood at the mouth of the creek full of Smelt the night before the tourney. Rumor has it one of them called the game warden and said someone was shining deer in a field 20 miles south of the Wardens house that was ironically right on the creek full of Smelt. Well rumor says the two watched "Bill" tear out of his driveway headed south. Rumor has it one throw of the cast net blacked out the live well and the locals had all they needed to slow troll livebaits all day!! Rumor has it the two locals smashed the field in a 16ft aluminum with a 20hp outboard Rumor has it they drank alot that night!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I live on the Texas Gulf Coast and we have an amazing population of Black Drum. Sadly, on both coasts the big ones are full of worms, so everyone throws back the big ones who go on to even further over populate our waters. But 100% fun as hell to catch. I love to fish for Speckled Trout and Flounder with what is essentially a very sensitive bass rod, and a small, but powerful reel. Sometimes it's aggravating as hell when you are targeting flounder or specs and you keep catching one Bull Black Drum after another, but still fun to reel in! You learn a lot about horsing in a big fish on light tackle. I know I'll never catch a world record bass, but if I do ever exceed that 22 lb mark, I know I have more than enough experience reeling in fish twice that weight!

Once I found the circle hook, it was a game changer for me! Just like the pendulum bow site! I wear glasses and had a real problem with depth perception, bam the pendulum was the ticket! While on a guided bass fishing trip a friend of mine took me on, the guide showed me how to effectively use a circle hook. Good memories. I love this guy's excitement!

Thanks for this post. I grew up fishing in the Indian and Banana Rivers, and did quite a bit of bridge fishing and shrimping and crabbing. It was a great childhood. I passed on my addiction to fishing to my son, who fishes everywhere he travels. I’m an old man now and can’t fish like I once could, so I really enjoyed watching you bring up (and not) monster fish. Good luck and keep fishing!

Not sure if the have been any survivability studies about these fish but the fish and wildlife folks drop fish from helicopters to stock remote lakes here out west. They have an acceptable survival rate but they're small fish being dropped with a tons of water to help break the surface for them. The consensus of the armchair quarterbacks seems to be that the larger the fish and the greater the height, the more harm it does.

Agree, the heavy weight of the fish dropped from that height is almost certain to result in death, not immediately but damage to some organs would probably result in death within hours. Large fish should never be dropped back into the water even from just a few feet high. When the fish is in the water its bouyancy means there is no weight pressure on its organs. As soon as it is out of the water its organs are compressed. The heavier the fish the more of a problem it becomes.

So he wasn't just on video illegally fishing in an area that clearly states "No fishing between the signs"? He was sight fishing between said signs and had to climb over the railing to get his line back to the legal side! Real fucking honest hahahahaha

I'm sure there are plenty of places that look like this but with that one building in the background closest to you it just resembles a place in Valparaiso, Fl. just curious where this was filmed.

I know almost nothing about fishing but I so enjoyed watching this! I found some spiritual parallels with how hard you had to work to get the biggest fishes out of the water and also the quality bait you were using your good equipment, persistence and even your faith because you invested the money and had a big net prepared! Hoo Eee! If that ain't a message right there!

It took me a minute... I finally figured there is a "BOAT LANE" in the middle of the river on the bridge and you were fishing on either side. It was a little confusing. I could see where a motorist could think you were fishing illegally. I didn't know they had boat lanes like that. Good luck.

Well at 12:54 he goes on the wrong side of the no fishing between signs area and that’s probably what got him reported

@@Bardmusic66Before that even on the other side of the bridge he was clearly casting out between the signs from the "legal" side of the sign into the illegal area of water. KZreadrs think they are above everything, the car nuts constantly driving recklessly on video and never get so much as warnings for it. This guy providing video evidence of himself fishing between the signs multiple times. It's annoying that people feel the need to force their video shoot into public spaces anyways but nothing illegal about that usually, what gets me is how blatant they are about ignoring posted laws while they are creating evidence of them doing so. Also apparently it's illegal to block the walking path, it wasn't completely blocked that i could see but it was a bit of a makeshift maze in a few spots definitely inconveniencing others if they had to cross.

Suggestion: Show each fish being held by you from a fisherman's point of view. I never really saw the size of the big one before you released it. Great video, though. Definitely watched to the end--very interesting.

Having worked for Fish and Game, I can attest to the fact that most of our game wardens are decent people. The majority of them choose this line of work because they are outdoors men also, they grew up hunting and fishing and just want to make sure you obey the rules and don't get hurt.
