GIANNIS Without The Work Ethic? What Happened To Kevin Knox? Stunted Growth

Is Kevin Knox GIANNIS Without The Work Ethic? What Happened? Today’s feature is one that is long overdue, but in hindsight at least now the picture of why Kevin Knox is flaming out is a little more clear. He’s going into his 5th NBA season and is now on his 3rd NBA team. This was a 2018 top 10 lottery pick, listed at 6’9 in college, even though the NBA officially has his height listed at 6’7. Add to that his elite athleticism make him physically an interesting prospect. In high school he was one of the best at his position, with highlight tapes of his game maxed out across KZread showcasing his unique ability. He had all the tools in his bag, including some of the ones we’ll speak on today that make him look like a completely different person. He could go left, right, middle, baseline, post up handle the ball and had confidence still as a big fish in a small pond. Kevin Knox’s story can be used as motivation to young hoopers never to be settled on achieving the goal of getting to the NBA. Yes there’s limited jobs in the league, but the number of people that make it there and wash out early is even higher. What Happened to the guy many called the next Giannis. Why was he an absolute BUST in the NBA? Stunted Growth

A player like Knox I wish we could see what would happen for them at Golden State or Miami where they could have top vets show them how it is done, have top coaching on shooting and all the rest. The man was drafted after one year of university for his potential and then he was thrown out there on a crap team right away and given a year to magically figure it all out on his own.. Year after year these crap teams like the Knicks take lottery picks and turn them into trash, while the good teams take end of the first round to undrafted guys and make them top talent. How much of that is the difference in being able to identify talent and how much of it is in the ability to develop and cultivate talent? Stunt number one, being drafted by the Knicks... always.

Great video... however one repeated inaccuracy in the beginning. He was measured as 6'9" in college and is incorrectly listed as 6'7" in the NBA. At the combine, he still measured 6'9" in shoes which matches what he had measured earlier. He did not lose two inches and is a forward capable of playing either small or power. So, in reality, he does qualify as a 6'9" small forward.

Some of these young kids are being forced into the league early because of hype- some well deserved, but with bad advice and misrepresentation. Going to a franchise like the Knicks doesn't help worldly talent if your not mentally ready. Their one of a few teams that draft the same type of player in the lottery every single year. Imagine what that does to a 19 or 20 year old prospect! Constant change isn't good for everyone, especially if your not given the tools and proper development to succeed. Hopefully this kid keeps working hard and not let his struggles conquer his God given gifts.

When evaluating players one of the things I would look for is competitiveness. Does the player try hard on both sides of the court. Does he possess any intangibles to help you win. Kevin just wasn't that in a Knick uniform. Sometimes Knick management have neglected this and have many misses in the draft. Lately things are improving.

His official measured height, without shoes, at the NBA draft camp was 6'7.75." He also has a 9'0" standing reach (John Collins just got paid a lot, he's 6'9" and his standing reach is 8'10.5) so the two inches (from 6'7" to 6'9") are meaningless. Most NBA players add an inch or more because of shoes and Knox is right at 6'9" with shoes.

He's not Giannis but hes not horrible. He's incredibly inconsistent. Some games hes a star but most of the time he leaves you disappointed. He's had opportunities to bust ojt but he never has. I think that he lacks killer instinct. Im not asking for Jordan or Butler intensity but if he had 1/10 of their intensity he'd be a completely story. He's not a killer. Its simple.

I think you forgot the most important part. Change in management and coach. One Rose and Tibs came in he got pushed to the end of the bench. His 3 point shooting improved. In atlanta they didn’t play him. If he get 10-15 a game in Detroit it will be the most playing time he gotten since a rookie

@@andrebryant5081 development can be stunted happens all the time. I don’t need to give examples you’re looking at a channel based around it. Young players need in game reps to improve when they don’t get that you can’t expect them to go to a new team and start living up to their potential sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t. When I said if he went to a new team I was referencing when he got drafted not when he was already 4 years into his nba career it’s not that hard to understand

For taking players like this with our top draft picks is the reason my next are in the position they are in. No won in the World thought that Kevin Knox should have been drafted before Michael Porter Jr even with all of Michael Porter Jr injury history and you don't just all of a sudden get dog in you as a basketball player that ship has sailed he need to focus in on doing one thing great and he can stick around in the NBA for another 6 to 8 years
