This is correct! Those 2 songs are exactly what I want Ghost to be... Kind of like a more demonic version of something from those 60s psych 'Nuggets' compilations.

Those two instrumentals on Prequelle are among the album's highlights for me. IMO Miasma is one of the best Ghost songs.

Impera is a fucking great album idc what any hater says.

Opus eponymous feels like the scooby-doo version of Mercyfull Fate but I still like it

Can’t pass the opportunity to talk about one of my favourite live bands

I like all of them. Opus is my favorite and Meliora has some of their best songs (He is and Spirit). Infestis is somewhat inconsistent but has also some of their best songs (Ghuleh and Monstrance). I like Prequelle and Impera equally, both have great songs (Witch Image and Watcher in the Sky), but are definitely more uplifting and arena rockers than the first 3 albums. 1. Opus Eponymous 9/10 2. Meliora 8,5/10 3. Infestissumam 8,2/10 4. Prequelle/Impera 8/10

I don't know you've got time to listen to all this stuff, I've got about 100 albums lined up to try from your video recommendations and now five more to throw in!

I know what you mean, I have literally thousands of albums added on my Spotify that I want to listen to some day but there’s only so much time… Oh well, too much great music isn’t the worst problem to have!

1)Meliora 🔥🔥(just flawless, hit after hit, heavy, beautiful, menacing, spooky, lovely) 2)Impera 🎩🎩 (I can swap with “Prequelle”, although I will let some time do that rearranging for me. I love the cheese, as Quest says. I love the 80’s vibe, I love the riffs, I love the prog and the effects, production is great. I love the emotion. Great vocals, variety, and overall melodies. I appreciate the experimental effort on this album. Ghost has come a long way. 3)Prequelle 🧡🧡 (special one for me, great writing, overall theme, first songs I heard from Ghost were some of these, it kind of hurts putting this at 3. “See the Light” is a soulful and relatable song that is underrated.) 4) Infestissumam 🧛🏻‍♂️🧛🏻‍♂️ (love the spooky vibes and sounds, some great ones on here, less samey then Opus, “Jigalo Har Megiddo” is so uplifting, beautiful, and underrated.) 5) Opus Eponymous 👻 👻 (a playful spooky album, a few great ones, others don’t pull me in as much; quite samey, “Ritual” top 5 Ghost song)

"Cheesy, but I love it!"....this sums up Ghost perfectly! Tobias is a genius, this entire project is amazing.

honestly got the same ranking. I was a little bit more disappointed by IMPERA because it didn't have a song that really got me cheering like Faith off of Prequelle, but the second album had a couple of songs I just didn't like the production on or just felt very underdeveloped.

Exactly the same ranking as you for me! I love the mood of Opus, feels so spooky but with a touch of Scooby Doo. I need to listen to Impera a few more times which might see it rise up the ranks. Infestissumam was disappointing for me and is the only album that I struggle to get through in its entirety, but even that has some great tracks on it. Glad to see Ghost getting the widespread acclaim they deserve!

Love all the albums as well, but this is how I'd rank it for my taste at least 5. Infestissumam (Got more or less the same nitpics as you do.) 4. Prequelle (Love the album, listened to it on repeat when it came out, but a few of the songs are a bit too repetative. By that I mean the lyrics being the same throughout the songs on pro memoria and life eternal. But as compositions all the songs still slap hard. It's probably the most diverse ghost album, something for everyone to enjoy, and I love the risks they take, for that reason I tend to go back and fourth between this one and Opus on where I rank 'em) 3. Opus Eponymus (Pretty much a straight forward metal/hard rock album. Love it, but because it's pretty basic I put it lower than the next two.) 2. Meliora (An amazing album, and you're probably right that it is the most metal ghost gets. Altho Opus probably challenges that claim. The song "He is" feels a bit out of place as it contrasts pretty hard with the rest of the album, but I still like it.) 1. Impera (I might be biased by the fact that it's new, however I think it's an extremely well crafted album. I love how the closing track bookends by calling back to the intro, and I think the song as a whole is great. Feels like a perfect sweet spot between prequelle and Meliora in a way, with some poppy elements still being present, but it's at the same time heavy and nothing gets too repetative lyrically, maybe aside from twenties.)

I would have put meliora above opus eponimous. It came out in a special time of my life and it accompanied me through it. I agree on infestissumam, great songs alternated with meh. Great video to dive into their discography!

BINGO, okay I can like you now! (I don't have to agree with people's opinions on everything else, but they have to respect Ghost, LOL.) Thanks so much for your insight and detail. So glad I found you, because although I came out of the womb loving rock and roll, I still have a lot to learn. I joyfully retired from souless office work four years ago (I'm a 66 year old crazy broad), and I've spent the time working on my art, launching a jewelry biz, and soaking up everything I can find about rock genres I don't know about. Impera is a awesome album, From beginning to end, although watchers in the sky is a bit too repetitive for me. Just as good as Meliora for me.

My ranking: 5. Infestissumam 4. Prequelle 3. Opus Eponymous 2. IMPERA 1. Meliora -They have a flawless discography, even if there are some records/tracks I’m not into. You can’t knock the genius of this band.

I got lucky and found Opus a few weeks before the release. I think anyone who was there for it’s initial exposure will, sentimentally, consider it the best. It’ll always be my favorite. Meloria is clearly next-and I can’t argue against it being number 1. Their second album is actually amazing but I get why people put it down against the rest of their works, but Monstrance Clock and like three other tracks make it phenomenal; it’s actually really easy to sing along with the entire way through and the music is solid. Last of the fun Mystery Machine albums. I think Imperia is actually kind of boring. It has some amazing moments but it lacks the catchy aspect of the vocals and cool foreign pronunciation of words... best song to me is actually the last track.... Prequelle was fun and catchy, but after a year it just was that... fun but not lasting. .. but way better than Imperia. I also consider the EP with Meloria and not an EP. just my drunk and unfocused response.

I'm new to Ghost. Heard Rats in Feb, and sought out a couple more the same day, and was full-fledged fangirl by night. What I've liked and am tepid on (nothing I dislike) has shifted, Though Depth of Satan's Eyes and Call Me Little Sunshine are my two least favorites. CMLS was the *second* song I heard, so that should give a clue as to what levels we're talking here. It's Meliora I keep coming back to, having originally thought Impera was fave. One interesting thing is the opening and closing of each album is so killer, it's hard not to love the ride. When I picked out my ten favorites, all of them were in one of those spots (1-Spirit, 2-Genesis, 3-Kaisarion... etc)

The song "Ghuleh / Zombie Queen" always reminds me to the game "Plants vs Zombies 2" I mean that videogame come to my mind when I listen to this song, In think could be a perfect sountrack for a final level o final boss.

For me, it's a descending staircase. Opus Eponymous is my favorite, I adore Infestissumam, I love Meliora, I like Prequelle and I kinda like Impera. Every album they lost the ominous/occult vibe that made their songs special for me, and in Impera they lost it completely. But yeah, Opus and Infestissumam are my two favorites and I will love them forever probably.

This is exactly the truth. Those of us who have been there from the beginning know this very well. Although I still find traces of the occult vibe still on the latest one and it was done with some phony stuff on purpose to reflect the times we are in.

Opus Eponymous is my favorite of theirs. Elizabeth....BATHORY! Also Ritual is so good. Definitely their best.

My order: 1. Meliora 2. Prequelle 3. Opus Eponymous 4. Infest.... 5. Impera This hurts as a huge Opeth fanatic (Frederik) but they lost too much of the darkness on Impera. I hope they get Satan and evil back for a new album.

Oh man, Depth Of Satan's Eyes is one of my favorite Ghost songs. haha

The kings of mid tempo metal! Allot of metal snobs think that catchy = bad which is just not true.

I am not a huge fan of this band, although I appreciate the gimmick. I need to listen more before I can judge. These ranking videos help!

Meliora is my favorite easily, but I like them all so far. The best thing about Ghost though is watching the metal purists become cry-babies whenever Tobias pops out new music and it's all over the rock radio. I have my buckets all set again and am enjoying every little drop of those wonderful salty tears. 😂

Oh man, wall incoming: I'm just now learning how much Infestissumam is disliked, or at least ranked the lowest of all their albums. After all this time, its still my second favourite album. The drums (specially the snare), the melodies, the overall feel, it just hits so many checkmarks to me. It definitely has a few tracks I don't really like on there, so it's not a perfect album in my book, but it's still like 8/10 material. Monstrance Clock is my favourite Ghost song. Number one goes to Meliora though. I can sit through the entire thing without wanting to skip a track at any point. I wish some of the tracks from the follow-up ep and redux made it into the original release however, like Zenith (which has become my second favourite Ghost song), but the album as is, is still a 10/10. Prequelle is mid for me too. Miasma and Life Eternal are among some of my favourites too, but the rest of it doesn't hit the same strings to me. And then I'm torn on where to place the last two, but I'm gonna say Impera fourth and - unpopular opinion, I know - Opus last. The reason why I personally love Ghost is the way they can string together so many cool melodies, harmonies, chord progs and this mixture of instruments, vocals, choirs, and somehow build an insane, audible, and very specific atmosphere, while making their mixdowns sound so deep and full. Impera just has more of that than Opus. That's not to say that Opus is a bad album, far from it. Ritual and Stand By Him are absolutely insane tracks. But again, Impera just has more of what I love about Ghost. Hunter's Moon, Watcher and Spillways stand out to me in that regard. It still ranks that low to me, because the back half of the album is not that good. Twenties is probably my least favourite Ghost song. Lovely bass part, but everything else about it is just eh. Even so, Ghost is one of my favourite acts.

I personally believe that Meliora should be the number one and the debut number 2. Mummy dust, Majesty , the kickstarter song Spirit fading into From the pinnacle to the pit Cirice, the instrumental Spöksonat, Square Hammer.... just an amazing album overall

I agree on their second album it's my least favourite, it has a couple of my favourite Ghost songs ever on it but then a bunch of meh songs. Impera is also my second least favourite, sure I enjoy all the songs on it but not a single song do I really LOVE, they're all just good. The first album is right in the middle for me. Meliora is my favourite of them all and Prequelle is my second favourite. And agreed Life Eternal is an amazing song, we had it played during the party on our wedding last October. But Kiss the Goat and Mary on a Cross are by far my favourite Ghost songs! Why couldn't that EP have been a full album!!

You know what makes Ghost really great? I checked so many album rankings and they are so different. Some albums are the best for some fans and other albums are the best for other fans. For instance look at Iron Maiden (whom I really like and respect), most almost all rankings are like this: Blaze albums, No Prayer... FotD are on the bottom, while Number of the Beast, Powerslave, Seventh Son... are on the top. Most fans agree. However, in case of Ghost the opinion of the fans are so inconsistent and I think this makes the band very interesting. My personal ranking (best to "not the best"): 1. Prequelle 2. Meliora (very close second) 3. Impera 4. Infestissumam 5. Opus Eponymous (you might agree or disagree)

My order is the exact reverse of yours, interesting.

I'm not a fan of their latest album,it's way too upbeat and cheesy,and I just can't get into it,the only song I liked was Call me Little Sunshine.But except their last full-length I love pretty much everything from them.Always intresting to see your rankings.

Nothing beats Opus. It's so raw and unique! It sounds like nothing else and same with infestissamum. Meliora is when they had some tracks that started sounding like other stuff but still has mostly just as unique tracks as good as their best. But it still ranks #3. Prequelle is #4 in rank. It got too poppy and mixing 80s rock with abba with some great moments but by then was getting less unique. The current album Impera is the phones on purpose to reflect the times we are in. It's a real gem. But it doesn't have much creepy stuff in my opinion. There's nothing scary on it. I wish #6 will be very dark and creepy in a serious way.

Completely agree with Infestissumam being last, I just never got the hype around it... it's just kind of boring, to me. Honorable Mention: 7 inches of Satanic Panic is right after IMPERA for me, GOD I love mary on a cross, I know it's not an album BUT we have to give credit where it's due.

My top 5... 5 - infestisumum 4 - opus eponymous 3 - meliora 4 impera ( but ive only heard twice , got the silver vinyl but so far i adore it 1 - prequelle...so many songs i love on this album. Best song...its kind of 2...i love the instrumental ashes, leading on to rats...rats is the best song ever of ghosts in my opinion...rats...ahhh ahhhhhh...

This Band sings in German Nachtblut the German Version of Cradle of Filth. 🤣 Im not a Fan of the you Ghost Album but i like the Song Watcher in the Sky. I hate the Chorus of Twenties. And i hate Epica 🤣🤣 no Epica is better than Nightwish my Favorite Symphonic Metal Band. Insomnium is my Favorite Melodic Death Metal Band i hope the new Album Release is this year the Ep Agent Monn is Phantastic.

My least favourite is still better than a lot of other albums by other bands though 👌

I'm all for instrumental tracks by bands, but on Prequelle it was just so peculiar. TWO instrumental tracks that are almost 6 mins long? I dunno... when metallica does instrumental tracks it's fine, cause there's only one on the album and breaks up the album a little bit with something different. These Ghost songs are quite the slog in the context of the album, if there was just one instrumental track it would be fine, but two is TOO MUCH.

The first 2 are the best hands down. If you think the later albums are better, you hot problems in your life. The new ghost shit is way to polished and over done by far. The songs sound glamorous for lack of better term. Theres no dark atmosphere anymore. I've been a fan since the first record, and I've actually quit buying or streaming there shit excitedly on the first day of release quite a few albums back now. This dude is lost. Infest the 2nd record is pretty much there last strong release. Get your shit together.
