In this video I totally messed up cutting the belly carve! But then I came up with a great looking fix! #ggbo2022 #greatguitarbuildoff2022 #scratchbuild

Nice, creative recovery - and you enhanced the beauty of the guitar. Accident is the Father of invention.

Great fix. Having worked on guitars for years, I totally sympathize. Things go wrong and a guy doesn’t rest until he fixes it.

I've drawn more than a few designs in CAD and run in to these kinds of conflicts pretty routinely. Body carves and chambers definitely compete with each other when 2D becomes 3D. Since I don't have a CNC I probably would've just cut and bent a veneer to overlay the body carve, but your solution is much more elegant.

Too bad about the goof up but your fix I believe makes a very elegant change to the guitar. I thing you chose correctly to put the veneer on the edge. Looking great. I like the contrast between the to different maple pieces It would have been nice if a little more of the patch piece of maple was left but it did fix the issue nicely

Yeah me too. I will probably explore more ways to cut up tops and reassemble with veneer. A mistake that will turn into a feature on my future guitars
