Just do a fast Google search and you will see that since the beginning of the virus (worst part of the pandemic) at least 4 million people have died. That's roughly the same amount of deaths per year from traffic accidents and obesity together. Now, probably in the next year less people will die from COVID, so my point stands on the table: more people will die from obesity and traffic accidents than from COVID, yet we are much less concerned about it

When I got my vaccine the location was filled with LDS missionaries volunteering (directing traffic, getting information, etc.). So at least some church members are doing their part.

CGP Grey doing gods work by making a very public video about the vaccination! I am completely serious, we have seen a downturn in the enthusiasm to get vaccinated, we need it to come back to get out of this mess.

in my country, they kept us for 30 minutes in a quite place to check for any reactions. With calm music, living tree indoor, free wifi, free fresh water and air conditioning. I wish it was something as cool as going into the museum ^^

Under the road regulations of most European countries you are expected to bike in the road if there is no bike lane/path. If you are on the sidewalk you have to yield to pedestrians.

As a Dutch person it looked confusing and unsafe. What especially got me was him biking on the left side, which is the right side over there but it took me a moment to register. ^^; Here we have bike lanes all over the place and if not, it's at places where cars can't drive very fast anyway.

It's really, completely different from NY in many ways. I like both, but there's a history and elegance to London as it's a much older city. Lots of green spaces, too. The tall buildings of NY are impressive in their own way, but everything's packed in very close together and it's way more intense.

Although I would have done the same in that situation, I was surprised to see Grey do that given how risk averse he seems to be. It's a stark contrast to the video where he made a huge deal about how dangerous it was that he drove down a highway at night one time.

Here in Rio, Brazil, I've got vaccinated in the Palace where the presidents used to live and work when we were the capital. Kinda like our "old White House". It was super cool!

@@firstname405 Legally, in the UK, it's a bit of a grey area (no pun intended). If the cyclist is counted as a separate lane of traffic, it's legal to pass on the left; if he's not counted as a separate lane, it's not legal. But I wasn't talking about the law, I was talking about practical matters of safety. As they say, "The right of way is not a right worth dying for." Passing that way is dangerous for three reasons: 1. if the traffic lights change, the truck will start moving; if it moves to the left, the cyclist could get crushed; 2. if the truck is waiting to let somebody turn across his path, that vehicle will potentially hit the cyclist (this is more or less what happened, though it looks like the scooter was pushing his way through a narrow gap to use the left lane even though he wasn't going left); 3. even if nothing goes wrong immediately, passing the truck means the truck will have to overtake again after the lights, and being overtaken (especially by wide vehicles that can't give you a lot of space) is one of the most dangerous times for cyclists.

@@beeble2003 I'm a little puzzled since it seems legit and safe to me. 1. The truck must signal before changing lanes and be aware of who is to his left. 2. Whoever is crossing in front of the truck does not have the right of way for oncoming traffic. They must look around the truck before proceeding. 3. Being overtaken is to be expected on roads for bikes. You stay to your left (or right in the US) and hope for the best. All that said, your points on safety are correct. I HAVE been hit by an overtaking truck that didn't see me and left me just 18 inches between the curb and the truck. I hit pickup truck's sideview mirror with my elbow and the curb. I blew out my front tire and got a baseball-sized hematoma on my elbow. No other harm though. The driver stopped and called the police and I got nice restitution for my damages from his insurance. He got a ticket. He was supposed to give me 3 feet, (a meter) in the lane.

From the thumbnail, I was half expecting him to be getting a vaccination in a telephone booth.

Thank you Grey for the shout out to logistics folks. Front line workers and researchers get much deserved credit. But we tend to be forgotten unless things go wrong. Takes an obscene amount of work to get the combination of medical supplies from all across the world to an end user.

No jab intended! I just can’t not look at the temple every time I pass by - years ago I asked them if I could look around and they said ‘no’, so obviously I’ve been dying of curiosity ever since.

Imperial College is actually spread over most of the west side of central London, Exhibition Road is pretty much just for undergraduates and engineering research. Most of the medical stuff happens at Charing Cross Hospital (which is of course in Hammersmith) and at Hammersmith Hospital (which is of course in Shepherds Bush).

I was in the US Air Force stationed in London in 1990-91. I found a fencing club that meet in the Natural History Museum, it was in a store room but still one of the coolest things I have been apart of.

Got so scared in the end when it faded to light. “I can't see where I'm going,” screamed my head, thinking for some reason I'm on a bike myself

@@emmersonmnangagwa7871 That's not true, one not everyone wants to be vaxxed. Two, not everyone who is vaxxed will be immune especially those who are clinically vulnerable and three, the more it spreads through the population the more likely it is to adapt to become vaccine resistant.

This video filled me with so much happiness.

Gotta say, riding on the 'wrong' side freaked me out the one time I tried it (Gatwick to Dover and back). Especially turning left into the oncoming lane!

Ha, don't come anywhere in North America then. 😂 Although I'm not sure which is worse, the cities that don't even try, or the ones that want to make it better and put a half-hearted temporary lane up with orange cones removing an entire lane of traffic and blocking a ton of turning lanes, and then act all surprised when bikers don't appear en mass overnight (bear in mind that the distances people travel from home to work, school and shop are often further than 15km) and the vehicle drivers get upset.

I’m not a scientist or logistical person, but I am one of Pfizer’s test subjects for the vaccine. I love videos like these. Being poked and prodded wasn’t a difficult job but they still make me feel like my time spent in the trial was worth it.

@Gameplay Wasn't going particularly fast -- you don't have to be particularly fit to do that sort of speed on a pushbike. Also, the wide-angle lens of typical GoPro/phone-style cameras makes it look a lot faster than it is.

I got vaccinated at our olympic training facilities. Where our biggest athletes were training while i was getting a shot in the other room.

Me: *Sees thumbnail* Me: "He got vaccinated in a phone both?"

The wait for this video was about as long as the video. Worth it.

That is so cool! I played a huge array of video game consoles in that exact room! Played the atari jaguar where you got vaccinated!

I spent the last year and a half of my computing degree from Imperial in Thailand and graduated online. Its crazy to see the place again in Grey's video.

@@sebidotorg Basically it was easier to qualify for Irish citizenship than UK citizenship, and he could still work in the UK if he had an Irish passport.

@@GameGod77 As far as I heard it, his father applied for Irish citizenship for Grey, because of Grey‘s Irish grandparent. You have a right to Irish citizenship in that case.

@@sebidotorg because of how many Irish people had to leave during the famine the Irish rules for citizenship by descent are quite permissive. Grandparent with Irish citizenship automatically means you're an Irish citizen if you register, and they do often grant it for other/older lineage but it's at the discretion of the Minister.

@CGP Grey quick question, is there any chance that once you get back into the world when its safe, you make a series about exploring london in a bike and just talking about the places? :D
