How about she goes to jail for lying on a document not only that let pay back every cent. This system is strictly made for these women to get away with murder.

Well technically when the mother filled out that paperwork the father was supposed to come to court and prove whether he was or wasn’t the father but was in jail. But I’m not sure I think they do that also because some people know they are the father and will avoid courts so that there is no DNA testing on file because I have heard of men who think as long as it’s not proven DNA that there’s a father they don’t have to pay for a child that they know is their’s

@Deplorable_Brian "Certain period of time" always seems like BS though. If it's not your kid, it's never going to be your kid no matter how long you wait. A DNA test even 20 years later should still exonerate since it's still the truth. Sometimes statutes of limitations I understand, but other times they just seem stupid to me in other cases. Courts are there, as the point of their whole existence in the first place (at least in theory), to seek truth and justice, right? The truth doesn't change just because you "waited too long" and the system doesn't want to bother anymore.

They do it all the time. I've had PTSD since I got back from the Gulf War in 1991. I was basically unemployed and homeless until I was finally diagnosed with PTSD in 2015. In 2007 my EX got a default judgment against me for child support. she gave them my paystubs from a job I'd had in 1998 for one summer. I didn't even know about it until my license got suspended and I found out I already owed about 30,000$ in arrears. I now owe 150000 in arrears and I can't get a license. I have 5 boys, I have to drive or my wife would never rest. I will likely never drive legally again.

The court is satisfied with sending correspondence to the last known address and proceeding with court cases if you don't show up. That's within the law. The biggest culprit here is the woman who said he's the father, not the court for believing her. Where the court starts being at fault is when he was able to show up in court to defend himself. Unfortunately it sounds like the timing of all of this is when DNA testing wasn't specific enough to definitively say if it was his or not. One big issue not covered in this story is the mother who lied to the court and caused this man significant legal injury in the process.

@mark tamayo try telling that to a woman who’s been raped, gets pregnant and then some judge awards her attacker visitation rights thereby forcing her to see this person on a regular basis and taking away any chance she might have for healing. It also forces that child to understand that his father once assaulted his mother and thats how they were conceived. Or maybe a woman is accused of consenting to the assault because she tells someone who is getting ready to assault her to put a condom on so she doesn’t get an STD. At one time even hospitals didn’t believe a woman if she said she was raped. Some police still don’t. Sure makes me feel protected. I might also add young girls in the foster system who are often repeatedly assaulted by so called “foster parents.” Women’s Rights are protected but there are still some disparities.

The simply fact is courts will label ANY man a woman claims as the father because without that the state them becomes the father and will have to pay to raise that child... Better to force a guy to pay rather then the government..

A lot of women know how to use the racial dynamics of the family court system to get benefits that they are not entitled to. Also, the family court system, in Detroit, is characterized by a lot of corruption, deflection, administrative incompetence, and judges who will blame the victim, whenever it become convenient, or to avoid setting a precedent. It is like shooting a man, then blaming the guy for getting in the way of the bullets.

It is absolutely stunning to me that a judge can steal your money like this. They'll do this to husband's who find out that the kids aren't theirs even after a divorce. They say that this is in the best interest of the child! WTF!?! It is my best interest that the government give me back all the taxes they've wasted throughout my lifetime - let me know when that is going to happen.

They only take money from husbands who find out the kids aren’t theirs because by being married to that person you take the legal responsibility of the child so you have to go to court to get yourself taken off because it’s the same as someone marry someone and their step child can become their child now.

@Rose Roberson not defending, only thing I did was explain the rules that happen when it comes to rights to a child through marriage also nothing disgusting about a stepparent stepping up and taking responsibilities for a child that they married into I was just putting into context some details On a small aspect of family court. Reading comprehension would be good before writing a comment I was just adding this because a lot of people seem to be throwing all the blame on this woman without knowing how the Family Court systems operate
