That's how you know you gonna have the lushest wave when you brush it down! Istg my hair literally look like that after combing them wet after washing, & with good care the curls will give beautiful waves even after you brush them away. This works very well for hair type with rich amount of H-bonds!

@@OoiYunKai in simple term, our hair has two types of bond, S-S bond & H-H bond. H is hydrogen based bond that are easily reactive to water, meaning H bonds enable us to style our hair by wetting/damping them first, and then holds onto that style as the hair dries down. While S bonds are stronger and permanent. For example, for a natural straight hair that easily lose the curly styling after just 1-2 hours meaning that the hair is rich in S bonds rather than H bonds. So the only way to keep the curl longer is by undergoing the chemical process (to rearrange the S bonds) i.e. rebonding & perming.

It’s a perm machine. I think that’s what you call it? If you ever see somewhere that offers digital perms that’s what they’ll use. I could be wrong though. Been wanting to get a Korean digital perm.

Your hair was gorgeous even before the treatment!! Please don’t say you needed to “fix” it 😭😭 as a curly haired Asian girl myself I spent so many years thinking my hair needed fixing until I finally realized it wasn’t my hair that needed fixing it was toxic beauty standards that told me my natural hair wasn’t beautiful. I hope this isn’t taken negatively, but saying you need to “fix” it implies your natural hair is a problem and makes those with the same hair type feel as though there is something wrong with their hair, too. It’s more of a matter of what you prefer your own hair to look like, which can be your natural hair or your permed hair; whatever you want, neither is a problem

“Getting it fixed” is American way to say make it tidier or more beautiful, like get my makeup fixed. It’s based on the context so “fix” does not literally mean prepare something wrong here.

@@anhthynguyen9253 i’m exactly the same, korean with naturally curly hair. every single korean hairstylist i’ve been to has been astonished and insisted i have to use products and treatments to straighten the hair (this was when my mom had no idea what to do with my hair growing up). or opposite end, perm it to be the exactly type of curls they like. they wanted to “fix” my hair. i don’t think this girl specifically meant it that way, but yea. anyways now that i learned on my own how to take care of my natural hair, they’re surprised to learn it’s natural and not a perm 😌

​@@onlythegracee Same! My parents literally gave up at helping me groom my curly hair & decided to have it rebonded. Now I have many white strands due to eight years of continuous straightening and rebonding. Curly hair was antagonised as unruly and unkempt especially throughout 2000s even in SE Asia. Nowadays everyone paid hundreds to get their hair wavy 💀

I lived in Korea before and my hairdresser used to joke about this a lot. She would tell me and my friend she's gonna leave our hair super curly like that and it's done LOL. She even took pictures of us with curly hair and sent us for fun.

That was definitely a trust the process moment. Because girl I thought they were just gonna dye your hair white and have you walk out.

for the people wondering pretty sure she got a magic perm which permanently straightens the hair and for the ends it looks like a digital perm. You can't wash it out it needs to grow out. The magic perm usually costs around 180-200,000 ₩ so roughly $160-180ish and it works on almost any hair type

I follow a lot of Korean hairstylists and that’s their process of achieving those curls. They weren’t experimenting. They’ve revolutionized the perming and curl techniques that I cant even find anyone in America that does it like them.

So lucky, here they charge you for the cut. I went to a salon to get my hair dyed black and they asked if I wanted it cut. They didn’t tell me it was gonna cause extra and ended up being twice the regular amount. They also charge you if you want it shampooed. Like, who wouldn’t though? So always make sure you ask.

As someone that worked in a salon, shampoo costs money so of course they charge you extra. It’s also a much higher quality than the shampoo at your house. Cut and blow dry should be included in the colouring though. Hair supplies are expensive you always have the option to shampoo your hair before going in if you don’t want to pay for a wash and blow dry
