Getting MORE RANGE from your Evolve Skateboard - Evolve Skateboards Weekly Ep. 33

Спорт

In this weeks episode we are going to give you some tips on how to get more range and distance from your Evolve skateboard. The team at Evolve Skateboards Australia, USA and UK will give you some of their insights on how to travel further on a single battery charge.
When looking at factors around increasing the range or distance an electric skateboard can travel, there are three main factors - environment, riding style and skateboard setup. Each of these play an important part in how much battery is used and thus the ultimate range of your ride.
The range of an electric skateboard is an important factor to a lot of riders, especially those that want to commute on their boards. The Evolve electrics skateboards are some of the longest range boards you can buy on the market and are rated to travel a distance of up to 50 kilometres on a single charge. Commuting on an Evolve electric skateboard is one of the best ways to start and finish your day so if you haven't tried it already, we recommend you give it a go.
Environmental Aspects:
This includes elements such as wind, rough surfaces vs smooth surfaces, hills and riding through a city.
Riding Style Aspects:
This includes pumping your board, how to best carve, how to ride up a hill efficiently, the benefits of kick-pushing to start, Fast vs GT mode and remote trigger control.
Setup Aspects:
This includes factors like clean bearings, speed cream and AT wheels vs street wheels
We recently performed a range test with Carbon GT vs a GTX and surpassed the rated range of 30 kilometres on All Terrain tires. You can see that video here: • Evolve GTX vs Carbon G... We will be doing a number of other range and distance tests soon!
If you have any tips or have done any range tests on your evolve skateboard we would love to see the results. Use the #evolveriders in your post so we can check them out.

One thing is missing... Regenerativ breaking. How do i get more juice back in the cells? Fast or slow braking? Or do regen. braking not matter at all?

I'm starting to think there is more benefit free rolling down hill than the small amount you gain from regeneration on the same hill.

This is my new favourite Weekly Evolve Video!!! Can I change my mind :) I plan to use my new board for commuting to work to save petrol money and have fun, so range is very important (makes the justification easier to the wife as well, with 5 kids its hard to get a Dad budget). I also need to get to cool places around Perth to take my daily handstand pictures :)

My top bearings recommendation: Zealous: sealed, zero maintenace, zero resistance, super fast, relatively cheap. I ordered mine from daddiesboardshop.com (~14$) - meanwhile replaced bearings of all boards of my family to these green Zealous - cause I hate these dirty maintenance hours with normal bearings. I actually even clocked a higher end speed of 37kmh with them on my old Gen 1 Evolve Pintail.

I ride about 20KM/h on fast, use the 97mm abec 11 wheels and have changed the bearing to bones reds. Able to get decent distances that I am very happy with.

Make the most of free rolling. With longboards a technique called pumping can be used. See LDP. Doing this you will need less from the motor. In wind I get as low down as I can. Look after your battery. Don't store flat, don't store fully charged. Don't charge hot. Keep in cool place. Be nice to your board.

jimijackson glad you said that.... been toying with the idea as the ATs are destroying my range but are really comfy for the streets I’m up against! What gearing are you using with them? I’m on gt remote so hasn’t got the correct settings I believe

@@tomwilshaw7512 I got them with the 38t from skater hq in brookevale .. Just be careful when going from at to abec 107. On certain surfaces you can feel some movement if you're not use to it. Specifically those elongated grip things they put on pavements just before a curb (like the ones the edge of city rail platforms but on the street). Aside from that I love being able to freewheel so much more without using the accelerator. Feels super comfy but closer to a true skateboard feeling. The way I describe it to myself is...it feels like your legs are a bowling ball. A solid but smooth glide.

Plus I mean your weight. I weight 120 lbs, I did 24.2 miles on my Bamboo GT street riding on Eco the entire time on smooth surfaces on a hot day, no hills. The girl I ride with weighs 85 lbs, so we usually get a lot more range out of each ride and still have battery left over than other riders.

Can you just take accelerator completely off when cruising at a good speed to conserve energy? For example you just start going down a hill, give it revs then drop the accelerator and cruise and carve like a normal longboard?

Hey mate, both wheels are 97's, slightly different shape to them both but it's more the compound of the wheel I have done this for. the evolve black 97's slide better where the green Abec 97's have a bit more grip. this set up helps me 180 revert slide a lot easier..

Just putter better battery cells in a 12s 6p configuration and there that is. With all that shit cost and y'all telling people to cruise around at 20kilometers per hour. What the hell would anyone buy a freaking expensive board like this? To go slow? Shit just get a freaking Meepo nls pro for more than half the price with better range. Or just get a Lacroix

If you're looking for more range that's easy.. Ditch the notoriously know crappy battery pack Evolve uses and upgrade to an 18650 pack. I recommend the Sony VT6's. Have it built by someone who knows what they are doing or learn and do it yourself and you'll be MUCH happier with the board. It just BLOWS that's what it comes to as Evolve knows how shitty their batteries are.

#1 way to conserve Energy? Don't ride your board at all. You'll save on wear and tear and your board will last forever. Jeez come on man I just wanna ride. If the board won't give me what I want with my ride style then Evolve is not my choice period.
