a cheaper alternative would be normal 3d printing resin. Just make sure to wear gloves and a respirator tho. Also, most of these resins can cure in less than 30s if your light source is decent and very up close. Wiping it off with IPA first before sanding helps to reduce the gunk that builds up on the sandpaper too

Any of the UV resins will work. The one I have is no longer sold.

1. The sticky finish is due to oxygen inhibition, this is normal, just wash it in IPA afterwards and use the torch again. 2. Infill is not the way to go for strength, instead use more outer peremeters

Great tips! Yes I have added extra perimeters and lower infill since that video with stronger parts that print a bit faster!!

@@mbwoodbutcher Yes absolutely. The most outer shell transfers the most load in a part. This is also why you can significantly increase part strength by metal plating it for example. (it also looks cool). What i do somethimes is I print the part hollow and fill it up with hot glue or something to give it weigth and strengh depending on the application, but that´s the great thing with 3D printing you can be completely creative, you can even use carbon fiber or crushed carbon fiber etc. An other tipp would be to use PU varnish instead of resin. PU varnish dries slower but it´s a lot cheaper and a lot less messy, it also does not stink as much (depending on the type) the result is basically the same and you can even apply it really really thick at once in certain areas to close holes imperfections etc. You can also simply dip the whole part in it and let is sit and dry.

Nice video. I've been doing this for a while now. If you get all the high spots out, just put 2 thicker layers on your model and cure. It cuts out a lot of sanding all together. But ya got to have a better light. And it's a little more costly. Thanks again

What grit sand did you use when you sanded it after your resin?

180 then 220. I will often hit it with 400 after priming.

brass wire wheel is what i have used in the past. its ok, wear glasses.

Or just print these parts on a UV resin 3D printer…. 😅 Also, you can buy 1L of 3D printer UV resin for about $30. Never buy the all nice and packaged up salon jewelry making resin. That’s made for bored housewives. 😂

Please guys, use gloves working with this stuff, or find a good dermatologist
