As a self taught drummer who's been basically winging it and learning by ear for 25 years I've found from your lessons that I was actually doing a lot of things 90% correct. Your lessons have quickly made that 10% that was missing into 3% missing from my need to practice more often. I wish KZread and Dr. Beatdown had been available in the early 90s when I decided to play. Thanks for all you do Dr. Beatdown and the rudiment shirt not only looks good on this guy, but it's a super helpful practice aid when left on a hangar in front of me.

I was a nice self taught drummer in the 80s. I could keep a nice beat even played in some money making bands. Stopped drumming in 86. 32 years later. I got a drum kit. Had no Idea what a shuffle, ghost notes or types of rolls or that drills even existed. Well I’m listening and damn Soooo much good stuff to learn. Where would I be if I would have learned a few things earlier in life. I couldn’t even do a proper roll. But Oh! There are many type rolls 😂. I’m 61 and learning and about to purchase the drummer for hire t shirt for support.Thank you Dr. Beat Down Brown.

I started playing in the late 80s but I'm like u I thought myself everything except when I was 10 a guy showed me a 4/4 beat and I took off thinking I was a decent drummer until I watched Rob the first time and I was blown away by what I was missing and how many things I had right already. I play the guitar and bass too and these videos have helped tighten up my playing on those instruments too.
Not just ghost notes... Silky Smooth Ghost Notes? I'm in.
I think I should write a plugin that auto-posts these two comments to each new video you post: 1) awesome video 2) good lord that snare sounds amazing
Those ghost notes create the perfect haunting affect on that snare!
Good lesson. And damn: this snare sounds really badass.

For sure !
Doc beat down. Im following about 8 influencers on youtube and you are the best at what you do like not wasting time like a boss.
This topic is very closely related to grip. Grip leads to control, control leads to being able to adjust volume very precisely.

A.K.A. dynamics?? ;)
Splendid tuition
All your videos are amazing for drummers on all levels. Thank you Ron!
Thanks again rob
What am I doing right now?? I *already* have my sticks out, ready to go, of course! lol As a righty, learning open versus closed strokes/multibounce, and good clean rolls, drags and accented notes on my left hand, have been crucial. Still working at it as always, and these exercises are great for that! Phenomenal playing and demonstrations, Rob! Thanks for being a great educator! Happy drumming, everyone!
“Trust Dr.Beatdown” Always.
Hi Rob. I'm not a drummer but, as a writer/producer, your videos really help for understanding and creating realistic, dynamic drum parts. Thank you. New sub.
Can't believe it, I was watching your 5 year old ghost notes video a couple of hours ago and you give us a new one. God bless you man, best instructor on youtube!
I love your lessons brother. I feel lot of positivity in approach and to the point. Bring it on !!
Thank you for this. Finally something regarding ghost notes that makes sense , is approachable and with many examples.
I love that snare you're using nice crisp solid sound
Omg these flowing rimshots - you can hear they change pitch graduaully up and down. What a master. Great lesson as always!
Hands down, the best lessons on the web. Thanks brother
Dear Beatdown Brown, your videos have helped me sooooo much as a drummer and I appreciate them all. Thank you for breaking things down into terms I can understand. Its been 20 years and I'm back on the throne.
Thanks for the video ! very practical and usefull!
Just started learning ghost notes and stumbled across this during lunch break at work, will try this when I'm near my kit again. long time watcher, now subscribed to the channel 😆
love your snare
Rob...really like your down to earth teaching style...and you leave out the hot dogging stuff that is a frustration to learning drummers. Thank you.
Fantastic channel I’m a late starter at the drum kit Been a electronic composer for near on 25 years It’s so great to have this channel as it’s opening me up to all the techniques And it’s crazy to think the amount of musicality involved It’s such an amazing instrument 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great video Rob! I LOVE using ghost notes in my beats. They just make the best come to life and really bring out the groove. Keep up the awesome and informative videos!
very helpfull mr. Brown !!!
This snare Sound makes me happy! Thank you for this lesson!
I love Rob Brown. I learn a lot. And even if I did t play drums, I could watch his videos just to feel his good mood. 👏👏👏👏👏
Well done Rob
Loved it!
Been in a process of convincing myself to learn (read: PRACTICE) ghost notes. Being a rock/metal self taught guy, I've been hunting for a really simplified way to apply the concept...BAM! Pretty sure I just found it! In addition to being a super informative lesson, on a fundamental "tool" to add to the kit, I really like how there is no stopping, no filler, just one lesson after the other, a little jam, and now go practice! It's getting harder and harder to watch "instructional" clips without leaving early. Thanks for both!
Wow sir ! Thanks alot for being so generous! I started following you now as my mentor. 🇳🇵
I'm just starting to learn ghost notes now and big thanks for your video. My beginner eye can't see/understand the technique difference between the bounce and the drag versions but I'm hoping at some point I'll be able to start seeing and understanding the difference. Looking forward to trying these excersises!
Exactly what I was looking for thanks, Rob!
Awesome info! Thanks super helpful!
Thank you so much for your job, Rob! Greeting from Belarus.
Great fundamental lesson from Rob as always

😯 Look how low those ghosts are! Who'd of thunk being a one inch wonder could be a good thing? Thanks for another excellent lesson Rob, your lessons have made the quickest progress in my control, I use your singles and doubles workouts every day
this is my favorite youtube drum channel
That snare is money.
I fucking love you, Beatdown!
That snare!!!
Really "must have"👍
"Hey what you doing right now?" I need to practice lol
🙏 thankyou sir😘
God I love you’re videos man seriously!
the depth ghost notes can take your beat to are invaluable. I don't consider myself any sort of a talented musician. I just punch away on my akai. I really appreciate this video regardless of my skill level. I've always wanted to learn many musical instruments. piano is on my agenda these days. just wanna rock like Billy Preston or Billy Joel. but in the mean time I'll continue on with reason. thanks for the video it was very informative and the camera angles made it really easy to understand.
nice snare
Got one
U da man Doctor.👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻🥁🥁🥁🥢🥢🥢🍗🍗🍗
Cheers from Denmark :)
Rob super coach! Le seul petit problème, c'est que la traduction automatique donne parfois des résultats surprenants. Bravo quand même.
You'll make me buy a set of Avantone mics. Love your channel man!
That snare is so full and got so much crack, sounds f”(£ing amazing!!
Hi Rob! Big fan from India, I have just begun drumming and although I have a tutor your videos are just helping me perfectly with the rudiments. Love the workout videos especially. My coach is only concerned about my speed, and you my friend have taught me the importance of control before anything. Can't thank you enough for your efforts. Can you please make workout videos of paradiddle , five stroke roll as well? I'm trying to learn paradiddle but cannot do it with a fluidity. Please help. Thanks once again.
Yeah there goes the bro again
Dr. Beatdown, a name you can trust!
I'm ready for another Beatdown
BOB MY MAIN MAN
I bought 2 T-shirts, Groove responsibly and Life, they are beautiful and their colors are cool as well. Good stuff, man! And of course, thanks for these videos, it made me a real drummer with solid technical background :)

Good, solid stuff as always, as always. Can get lazy with this kind of thing. He's right about the merch, too. I snagged a couple of 'rudeboy' teez and now people are smiling more, colors seem brighter and the women just can't seem to leave me alone.
Dat snare tho!
I am New to Drums and I've wanted to Play the track by Porcupine Tree - Sound of Muzak. This breakdown sure helps me understand how to play the Ghost notes better from whatever i can grasp from this video. Thank you so much. However I Request to Do a Lesson for that track if possible atleast the different groves if not the whole Song.
I hesitated on watching this one cause I know Beatdown plays traditional grip (and I don't). Boom! Match grip! Thanks for having our backs Rob!
Great lesson. Could you also talk about playing ghost notes in shuffle groove next occasion?
Hey bro , apreciate the video , thankk dude , your the man 🤘🏻🤘🏻 any chance you send T’s to NZ?
Can you please do a Rosanna tutorial for the ghost notes.
@Rob Brown, During the exercises, are you actually hitting the rim of the snare as well as the skin? Keep this stuff coming, mate, it's awesome!
Rob, Back checking this video out again (reviewing your info, great stuff!) and wondered if you could make a $90 snare sound as good dynamically ... with the ghosting to be precise ... quiet but accurate ghost notes. The shell of this one makes the accent sound like a gunshot and seriously increases the dynamic range. I would like to suggest that the notation be kept on the screen when you are playing. Plenty of room on the screen not to interfere with a little bit of magic ...
KİLLER THANKS A LOT.
Ghost notes get me laid now! Thanks!
That snare drum sounds killer. Bell brass?
These are quality lessons. Don't forget to pay your teacher. Drum on, friends!
Great lesson - thanks. Off topic, but curious about the nice harmonics ringing in the snare drum. Is that intentional? Do you / can you tune for it?
