Drum Lesson: Ghost Notes with Brandon Scott

Музыка

Today I bring you some exercises I use to get my left hand ghost notes up to speed. We also work on some dynamic independence exercises to get both our hands working together... independently. ;)

Been playing longer than I care to admit, and never implemented ghost notes to such extent as I didn't know how! Sounds crazy, but this video was perfect for me!- Thanks for posting this is just what I needed to add a whole new dynamic to my playing! Not as tricky, or as easy as it looks!!!! lol!

Brandon thanks so much for this lesson. The last exercise was the key to help me really unlock ghost notes, it gave me an effective way to practice them and it has finally helped me move forward with my drumming. Thanks for all you do!!!!!!!

so I"ve watched a few other "lessons" on ghost notes and there is one thing you say that confirms you are the one to watch and learn from you said "loop the exercise as long as you feel you need to....etc. etc." THAT statement clinched me I'll be using your Lesson for the help I need with these darn ghost notes (James Brown will be so proud when I get this right(snort laugh))> Thanks

Is there a trick to keeping your sticks out of each other's way when playing an accent on the snare at the same time you're playing a ghost on the hat? I tend to need to lift my right hand high (thus accenting the note) so that it doesn't hit my left hand that's going high for the accent on the snare. Otherwise my sticks collide. Any tips? Thanks for the vids!

Sarah C try raising your hi hat up so the gap between your snare and hi hat are bigger. It works for Chris Colman!
