    if you really wanna learn German, you have to study apart from Duolingo. Duolingo gives u a base to learn, from that, you've got to find more resources in order to keep learning and get deeper knowledge.

    @dydierripe5611 that is so obvious, i don't know why people overly rely on learning apps, especially americans. That exact same rule you proposed goes for every language learning process. If you study german in school, you have to go to a certain extent like grab a vocab and try to translate a book in german with it, i feel like the results are magical, and it provides a nice *speaking* experience rather than just reading and understanding experience.

    Hearing native speakers I notice some of them don’t say the “und” in numbers over 20. As in 43 for example, they say dreivierzig. Am I hearing it wrong? This was confusing specially while trying to hear changes in departures/arrival times on the speaker in train stations or while on board of a train.

  • @mickeyvd1979

    @mickeyvd1979

    5 ай бұрын

    It's not that we don't say the "und" When we speak fast, and Germans do that a lot, we pronounce it: dreinvierzig. There is a suggested "n" instead of the "und". But nobody would leave at least the "n" out. But if you have the word "einundzwanzig" you'll often hear "einnzwanzig" with a "n" that is slightly longer pronounced, that always happens when the first number ends with an "n" (sieben, ein). From 101 upwards, you'll hear both variants. "Hundertzwei" (official) oder "Hundertundzwei" (spoken by some people) Abbreviations are something that Germans love and do all the time. E. g. in spoken language, we generally don't say "eine Tasche", we say "'ne Tasche". "Einen schönen Tag" - "'n schön'n Tag".

  • @IvanPavlov

    @IvanPavlov

    Thank you so much for the clarification. I speak spanish and in my country we also love abbreviations. The way people learn a foreign language from a teacher is usually not the exact way native people speak it on daily life.@@mickeyvd1979
