    Thank you Rae! This tutorial saved my daisy painting. I was struggling with my center looking flat and my shadows being "just not right". I dabbed in some burnt orange in my pink flowers in by my shadowy under petals. Took my spotter brush with burnt orange and made my centers more elongated. What a difference❣️ Thank you for your generosity.

    I've tried your suggested mixed-media paper now and I agree with you. When I want a smooth paper, I'm getting better results with the mixed-media than on arches hot-press. Still love arches cold-press though.

    Hey Dr. Bee 🙂 it's easy to be intimidated by oils especially when you don't have someone to show you how to use them in a clear, clean, and structured way. But with a little bit of guidance, oils are the easiest, most forgiving paints to work and learn with. We give really specific and thorough instructions for our students in how to use them and eradicate issues that could lead to a muddy painting or a messy studio. We'll be here when you're ready, feel free to reach out any time 😊~ Daniel

    @@evolveartist Thank-you so much Daniel. I do agree with you - oils look like they're a BEAUTIFUL medium to work in! ❤️❤️ I have been looking at your website because I mostly work in acrylic paint, ink and graphite, and I feel like I'm ready for a new challenge and a new medium! I am just very time-poor at the moment, but I will be back when I see more time on my horizon! And yes, with oils, one does need thorough instructions, but they certainly look a lot less frustrating than acrylics, that's for sure! I'm so glad Helen told us about your website, as this is bound to help so many people in their art journey, and that is a precious gift 👍👍👍 The course looks fantastic, and I can tell a lot of time and resources have gone into producing this high quality educational product. I wouldn't be intimidated at all to engage with this program, which looks so thorough and so detailed. Also, the fact that students get to engage with tutors is a huge advantage, and such an important part of levelling up one's knowledge and skills. I will definitely be back once we are out of lockdown and I then have more time (hopefully very soon!). Thank-you for your encouragement Daniel, and thank-you Helen 🤗

    I have never heard of Mungo watercolor. But I've heard of Mungyo watercolor, that has very poor lightfastness. I suppose if you aren't going to display your work, lightfastness isn't an issue. Since I do, it's important to me. You do such beautiful work, it should be framed and displayed. Such nice work. I teach watercolor also, and enjoy seeing others methods. The trick to make hot pressed paper build up deep dark rich layers of paint easily is to remove some of the sizing 1st by soaking for a couple of minutes, then stretching.

  • @helencampbell

    @helencampbell

    2 жыл бұрын

    The lightfast properties are not great but since I want everyone to join in and dine may not have the budget then that’s why I suggest them. I am beginning to introduce other paints in future videos

    That evolve course you talk about sounds really neat! I'm wondering if it'd be appropriate for high school level artists. My girls are more advanced artists than anything that they can find in their age group but still have a lot to learn. Thanks for providing info on this course! Oh and these flowers are so beautiful, I'm watching now and will run through the tutorial again to paint when I have a good block of time! 😁

    Helen, I’m having a problem finding the line drawing and reference photo. I usually don’t have this problem and can go straight to it but tried yesterday when I first stated watching the video, then again today via your link. Still no luck. I usually go to the “albums” then drawings etc, but when it comes up I only get a blank page, or the drawing of the eye. What am I doing wrong?
