GERALDTON, WESTERN AUSTRALIA - What's there?

Come and join me on my walk around Geraldton, WA, a town I lived in as a ten-year-old a few decades ago....

Great video, Jason. Perth is the most isolated capital in the world but Geraldton, being 420 km north of Perth, is even more isolated, which is why very few international visitors make the trip up there. I lived in Geraldton from 1975-1980 (basically my high school years) and although things were pretty tough for my family I would say it was happiest time of my life. The last time I went back was around 1998 so I imagine things have changed a lot. Many thanks for uploading and best of luck on your travels 🙂

Australia is no longer the Country you used to know. Meth Addicts Alcohol drug pushing attacks in kids. Can't walk down the street without being attacked. Foreign untrained cops shoot to kill. Mass Immigration has destroyed Australia.

I live in Barbados and have been through Geraldton four times. That was many years ago, to spend Easter weekend in Carnarvon.

I can't believe that you didn't mention the HMAS Sydney memorial. I think one of the early shots was even from the HMAS Sydney look-out point.

Im going through 482 visa process so should be in Perth WA buy October or November. Second attempt at emmigrating to Oz after lasting 76 days first time around in Hobart. This job is the right one and super nice people, got a mate in Perth from Uni in UK so I am confident I can make this work. Doing it single is hard but this time I am prepared. I am going to buy a car and head out of Perth as much as I can. I am excited and a little scared :)

I live in Geraldton, It is great here, if you like abusive drunks, muggings, home invasions or verbal abuse from 5 year old's. Don't bother calling the Police when this happens either, they probably wont bother to respond. If they do it will be several hours after the fact. Sadly Gero used to be great, we had a booming tourist industry but the crime and abusive behavior has killed that and people just pass through now and i don't blame them. Truth is, from a "local" if you want a nice relaxing holiday destination, where you can relax and is safe for your kids for Crissake, don't come here. It is a $hithole these days.

In all fairness, everyplace you go to these days has its share of problems. If you open an online newspaper anywhere in Australia, you will see crime and other social problems have gone up considerably in the last 10-20 years. Show me one place in Australia - if not the world - that hasn't got abusive drunks, muggings, murders, home invasion and I will eat my own words.
