George Reeves Death Hollywoodland
Фильм және анимация
Not the most accurate movie, But very well acted. I enjoy this sceen as when I visited Reeves house in Benedict Canyon I could actually feel Reeves anguish. So can Adrian Brodi here. Yes I do believe he killed himself. I think he was depressed. And in a era when it wasn't even diagnosed. That's why he was such a caring giving Superman. He didn’t want others to feel how he did inside.

It makes me so sad that he suffered so badly. He made everyone happy and couldn't make himself happy. Breaks my heart.

If he did commit suicide it wasn’t because of Superman. It was because of Hollywood. They treated him so unfairly and made his life very difficult. The guy lived to act and perform and loved it and because he was so loved because he played Superman they wouldn’t cast him in anything else because he was so loved for playing Superman. It’s so sad and unfair what they did to him

Ya back then they treated television stars second rate. He couldn’t make it big in movies after Superman. He should of just stayed with Toni for four more years and shared Eddie mannix’s money after he died. All so sad...

So true. The '40,000 foot view' story of so many lives. The only time you feel any tiny bit of fleeting hope or happiness is when you feel it in or for someone else.

from what i read george made $5000.00 an episode from superman. you would think after 104 episodes he would've made enough money to live a comfortable existence. his house was essentially paid for by toni mannix and in his name. his clothes and car were even paid for by toni mannix. so basically if suicide was in play 1.) he wasn't happy with how his career was going 2.) lennore lemon was probably making him miserable 3.) he probably suffered from depression 4.) he was also strapped for cash due to bad investments? i mean being killed by someone was pretty much almost impossible. his room window was tiny. there would've been no way for the suspect to escape without bein seen as we read in the police report one of the guests dasehd up the stairs as soon as the shot was heard.. but his murder scene was weird. 2 shots in the floor. blood splattered to hte ceiling. gun to the floor. bullet casing underneath him. stripped to the nude.
@JG1570
2 жыл бұрын
@@joeswanson733 My theory on the bullet casing being underneath him must mean that he must’ve been holding the Lugar upside down to his head. George was making a great living. But he wanted to be a movie star. And Hollywood was just not willing to give him that. And I guess people started to make him look and feel like a joke because he played Superman. And every time he was invited to appear on a television show or in a movie they always wanted him to play Superman.

He was a great wrestler a great boxer judo expert and incredible actor. He had two women fighting over him he had just signed on to direct some films in Latin America and gotten a whopping sum of money to shoot more Superman episodes. He was a little disappointed in the turn his career had taken from being in films Like so proudly we hail and gone with the wind down to playing Superman but I don’t think that would be enough to put him over the edge like that. Like I said above, I believe he may have had clinical depression in a era where there was no help.

Superman historically has a heavy impact on the careers of the actors, they all struggle afterwards (some worse than others) despite winning over the public for playing the last son of Krypton

It helped to open my eyes to the many painful truths about Hollywood and all the actors and actresses who have so sadly suffered as George Reeves had. R.I.P., George.
In this film, “Hollywoodland,” three scenarios are presented: First, Reeves was killed in a struggle with a drunken, bitter Lenore Lemmon; second, the Mannixes hired a hit-man to kill Reeves; and finally, this scene depicting suicide. I opt for the first one. The suicide theory is crap!
@amt-vi1uo
2 жыл бұрын
The first for sure. Why else would it take them so long to call the police?
@thomaschacko6320
2 жыл бұрын
@@amt-vi1uo Absolutely! About 45 minutes - time for these drunken bums to get their stories straight. It’s incredible that they were not pulled in for more questioning, that night or any other day! Lenore Lemmon returned to the house within the week, broke the police seal, and swiped some liquor, luncheon meat, and - most importantly - traveller’s cheques. With all that, she was allowed to flee to New York, where she spent the next thirty years drinking herself into a daily stupor. This is not in the film, but Reeves and Lemmon were out to dinner that very night. The man who played piano at the restaurant (I forget his name - Merrill Sparks, I think) remembered Lemmon working the bar, even when out with her “fiancé.” He said the couple argued loudly at dinner, and left the same way. (That may have been the reason Reeves was in a bad mood when he went to bed.) Bottom line: the LAPD did not fulfill their duties in investigating the death of George Reeves.

I don't think that George Reeves did commit suicide. On the night June 1959, because he was happy with the idea that he was going to be directing in the Superman series, and that they were going to get a higher salary.

According to Phyllis Coates, Reeves also had a film directing assignment lined up. (He was leaning toward sci-fi and occult thrillers.) He offered Coates a role, so she saw a copy of the script. Two days before his death, Reeves was back on the “Superman” set planning the new shows.
Suicidio o asesinato? Nunca investigaron prolijamente, habían 5 disparos en la habitación aparte del que tenía en su cabeza, no tenía huellas dactilares el arma, es un episodio muy raro y confuso

Why does misfortune befall most actors of superman?
They did it to Judy Garland , singer actress
jesus was our very first hero
The night he died he had a fight with the woman he was going to marry and she let people come in the house when he was sleeping that is not a person who is going to kill himself that is he wanted to sleep and the people had know right to be in the house
He wanted to act. Not just as superman. He was struck. Mistress husband black walled him
I wonder if he really did commit suicide. Poor George.🙏🏻🦸
