Warren Zevon also died of cancer. He wrote several songs about it. (My Shit's Fucked Up is one of them.)
George Harrison became so famous as a member on the Beatles and fairly wealthy at a young age. He became disillusioned with all that. He turned to several religions to find peace. He was also attacked in his home by a man with a knife. He survived that attack but later died from lung cancer. This song is one of his best.

George was the first of The Beatles to have a number 1 hit with this song. He wrote it in 1970, way before he dies in 2001. He loved his Lord and he was saying, he loves life, but it seems to take a long time, and he just couldn't wait to see the Lord. Beautiful song, and the album it came from is full of great songs also.

No, he wasn't sick yet, just intensely spiritual. And yes, absolutely a Beatle, my favorite Beatle at that! I was 8 years old when they came to the states and appeared on The Ed Sullivan show, and I immediately fell in love with George, "the quiet Beatle". He spoke softly but spoke loudly thru his music. Funny that in later years we both turned to spirituality. I miss having him in this life so so much! Thankfully he left us his music. For most of his time with The Beatles he was only allowed one song per album. They were trying to hold back this man of amazing talent, but his genius was just too big for them to control. A good solo song of his to check out is "Beware Of Darkness". Rock In Peace George!
George wrote this song and recorded it soon after the Beatles break up, way before he got cancer and died. Unfortunately, he was an absolute chainsmoker and died of throat cancer 😢🙏🏻
He was the spiritual one of the Beatles who wrote this prayer about his relationship with his creator. He was studying Hari krishna and wrote some incredible music. So beautiful!

George Harrison accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior months before his death. Famous race car driver Emerson Fittipaldi recounts the circumstances on KZread. George loved car racing, and their common interest resulted in a friendship. Fittipaldi went, with his Pastor, to visit George in the hospital, in Switzerland, months before his death, resulting in George's conversion. In the mid-90s, I worked for a Christian ministry with a radio program called "To Every Man An Answer" which was a call in Q&A type show. Very shortly after the program first aired, George Harrison called in to ask a question. So even then, George was searching outside of Hare Krishna, until near then end he found what he was longing for: seeing the real Lord, Jesus Christ.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (John 3:16-18) "Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.” (John 11:25-26) *“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.* And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” *Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Favorite story of George's sweet soul . He was on his death bed and Ringo came to visit. Ringo told George he had to fly out to be with his daughter who was having surgery. George looked up at him and said " Do you want me to go with you ?" 😰

While my guitar gently weeps. That is George in a nutshell and I love him in memory.
He wrote this song in 1969, was attached with a knife in 1999 and died 2001 so that there is quite a time span between writing this song and his attack and his death.
George wrote this song in 1968 when the Beatles were still together, it was released on George's first solo album "ALL THINGS MUST PASS" in 1970 after the Beatles broke up. George passed away on Nov. 29, 2001. He had throat cancer and no way could he sing after that. It spread to his brain.
yes he was one of the Beatles and the lady in the pictures is his first wife Pattie Boyd
When you are a kid who remembers the Beatles as a group. OK, love your channel.
The Beatles travelled to India to experience eatsern Philosophies in the mid 60's. GH was the one most influenced by the experience and was also interested in Asian music specifically the sitar , a stringed instrument with a very distinctive sound. The Beatles used this exetensively on their later songs as did the Rolling Stones on Paint it Black. George had a life long association with these ideas and experiences - in particular with an Indian musician called Ravi Shankar. He was searching for enlightenment - he wants to get to know "his maker" but is non specific about the religion so the listener can apply it to their own belief system. It is a very optimistic song. George Harrison wrote a significant number of the best Beatles songs ( considering he was competing with Lennon and McCartney) the incomparable while my guitar gently weeps , something - his love song to his wife Patti Boyd who you saw in the photographs and the wonderful Here comes the sun to mention some.

Thx! I love to see young people appreciate music! Good job! George was also attacked and stabbed before his bout with cancer! His wife smashed their bedroom lamp across the culprits head! George Harrison was a great man!
This song overcomes me emotionally. Few, very rarely is so much said with so little. Whenever I hear her, I can't help crying, but in a very deep and special way...
Yes, one of the Fab Four for sure. They all went to India to sit and meditate with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 67? George learned how to play the Indian instrument, the sitar from Ravi Shankar and George, being the introspective Beatle, got into the Indian religion and took it very seriously. This song was written well before he became sick and knew he was dying. Check his solo masterpiece All Things Must Pass. So many deep spiritual songs on that album but nothing to do with his own health of far off death.
The lady in the pictures was his wife, Patti Boyd, for whom Eric Clapton wrote Layla.
Yes man he was one of the beatles John, Paul George, and Ringo. Come on man!
George was the youngest Beatle. He joined when he was 17. Paul McCartney said the four were like brothers. They loved each other but they sometimes fought and later reconciled. I saw his documentary and they showed the mind bending lifestyle of the Beatles. One of the saddest stories I heard was from Ringo. When George was on his dying bed, Ringo visited him. He mentioned he was going to New York to visit his daughter who was angry with him and wasn't looking forward to it. George said, "do you want me to come with you?" Ringo had to fight the tears and said, no but thank you. It showed how close they were even after so many years.

He was the lead guitarist of the Beatles. A very spiritual man....the song showed how that you can pray "Hallelujuh" or "Hare Krishna" and there is no difference....
This is a song about his spiritual journey. He was exploring Hindu traditions at the time and this song blends Christian "Halleluiahs" and Hindu chants "Hallelujah...Hare Krishna...Hare Krishna...Krishna Krishna... Hare...Gurur Brahma...Gurur Vishnu...Gurur Devo...Maheshwarah...Guru Sakshata...Parabrahma...Tasmayi Shree...Guruve namah" Harrison was also sued by Bright Tunes, the owners of The Chiffons' song "He's So Fine" for copyright infringement. If you listen to both songs, the music is remarkably similar. Despite the fact that Harrison admitted early on that he probably lifted the chorus subconsciously, the case dragged on for decades, with Harrison finally agreeing to sharing 40% of the profits.
George was the spiritual Beatle. He was the reason the Beatles went to India to study with the Maharishi Mahesh Yoga.
Yes, he was a Beatle but never got to play many of his songs as Lennon-McCartney dominated the song selections. When he left the Beatles he had over 200 songs he had written. He was into Indian religion so this was a song about his journey. He chanted quite frequently and in the Beatles Get Back movie you can even see some of his Hare Krishna friends.
George was my favorite Beatle all around. Great guitarist and writer as well as vocalist. Then Paul who could play anything, sing like an angel and write. Then John, RIP, and Ringo. This group, The Beatles, were all very gifted at many things and could have been so much bigger, if that is possible.
George was the soul of the FAB 4 , and underappreciated , He showed all of them when he went solo .

Famous or not, we're all flesh n Blood. We all hurt, we all feel pain. And we all feel love. He wrote My sweet Lord in 1968. It was the second single from his first Solo Album, All Things Must Pass. In 1970.

He wrote this when he was in late twenties-over 30 years before his death. Like Lennon he was also nearly murdered a couple of years before he passed, a schizophrenic guy broke into his house & stabbed him & said he had been ordered to do it by God. This song is *not* about George Harrison's longing to see Jesus (Lord). George wrote it while he was a believer in Hare Krishna. In that system, if one's good deeds out number their bad deeds, they reincarnate to a higher life form in the next life; but if their bad deeds out number their good deeds, they reincarnate to a lower life form. Their goal is to reincarnate upward until they become one with their god Krishna. That's why George sings in the song, "I really want to see you lord but it takes so long my lord" since reaching Krishna requires many lifetimes to perfect ones self. BUT HERE'S THE BEST NEWS: George Harrison became a born-again Christian months before his death. George became friends with famous race car driver Emerson Fittipaldi, who introduced George to his Brazilian Pastor. Emerson and his Pastor visited George Harrison at his hospital room in Switzerland and George accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Emerson Fittipaldi said George Harrison would play and sing worship songs to the real Lord, Jesus Christ, on George's second favorite instrument: the ukulele.
