    WHAT HAPPENED WHEN THE CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER INSPECTED THE BUILDING DURING THE TIME THAT IT WAS ONLY 2 STORIES HIGH? ITS ALLEGED SINCE THAT TIME THERE WERE SIGNS OF INSTABILITY AND THEY CONTINUED AS NORMAL ANYWAY!!!??? WHY CANT THEY NAME THAT CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER THAT DID THAT INSPECTION???

    @leoniea138 Madam you know South Africans are expensive? So they say we must go back and they will hire cheap Mozambican and Zimbabwean and other black Africans because we are lazy. That’s what happen because this guys worked day and night to complete the project. They didn’t rest on weekends 😂 . Most of them are strong but they didn’t have basic bricklaying training. So DA must sort it out now

    Yes they do inspect certain stages of a development, it is however up to independent engineers and architects to do the full investigation.

We know there were issues reported by some of the site workers but NO the show must go on and now here we are with victims as young as 19 years old in that rubble.     It seems like the concrete support pillars were not 100% dry this makes sense but at this stage still speculation until an investigation is done this will take time they are still focussed working through the night to rescue any more survivors

    Condolences to the families. My question where was NHBRC and how did they miss such a disaster? Did the contractor follow the Architects plan and engineers drawings and what is the geotech report of this site. I hope there was no bribery involved.     The building that collapsed was not under the management or control of the DA. It's a private property that was being developed into an apartment block. There is a big difference between a public road controlled by the ANC and a private property. I apologise if this is all a bit too complicated for you to understand. I came to terms with the low IQ in this country long ago.

    Apparently the concrete support pillars were not 100% dry but this is just speculation for now a full investigation will take place and I've no doubt that someone will have to answer and action will be taken the SAPS are involved in the investigation

    It appears that the building collapsed into the underground carpark and it looks like very bad structual support pillars not strong enough to carry the weight who was the construction company building these appartments where were the structual enginerrs and site foremen were these people fully qualified this shoul never happen an investigation will take time but the truth will come and no dought action will be taken against the people responsible for this disaster

There are more than enough qualified professionals within the correct professional bodies that will form part of the PE to investigate this. And I 100% believe that they take no prisoners in this regard. Look at what happened in Tongaat a few years ago. As long as the same process is followed, there should be only factual information presented to the public

They need to know how it happened . If the building collapsed when it was occupied by the tenants you are right but it collapsed on workers. Also NHBRC is also part of the project.. The engineers override the building inspectors all day every day.. The inspectors can only make sure by laws and building regulations is being followed to a degree. Everything else falls on the engineer to sign off on..

    Bullshit ,the tender goes to the best company on the tender list with a secure background,not always the cheapest .The people that authorized the tender/ contract are .politicians not flippin engineers etc.In any building project is specification, spec c etc ,which engineers and building inspectors watch very careful to ensure that it is followed. How can you blame the DA for this and want answers from them.Yes the DA will surely get answers and reasons for this disaster but you can't blame them for what has happen.If a contractor build you a house and it falls apart are you going to blame yourself????.

    All companies need to be BEE compliant. And just to let you know, MOST BEE companies I know, have competent people in place. They don't necessarily pay the people as much as the corporates, but I've personally been contacted multiple times by BEE companies offering me a position due to my experience and qualifications. So we can't point fingers in that direction.
