It's a common tactic in countries with bad, corrupt, or just plain evil government in charge. Try and get your own people distracted from the leader's incompetence by pointing it out in other nations. And 100% of the time it never works.

Lady the only thing I will predict is, if you take a look at how South Africa is today in 2024, it will look exactly the same in 2074, because leadership that is as bad as SA's never advances the culture or the nation. When leadership is too busy stealing from their own people, whilst spending the rest of their time figuring out ways to steal even more, the chances of corrupt leaders diverting any money or resources to building up their own nation is ZERO. So take a good look at SA today in 2024, take a picture, emblazon in your mind's eye, the South Africa of today. Because right now is the best it is ever going to get.

I can't even watch this as a South African. The anger and anxiety this triggers is too much. We are hostages here... We don't leave our houses. In my town, even on a Friday night, everything closes before 10pm because it's just too dangerous to stay open. Winter is coming and that is stressful because that's when the house breaking occurs. We can't even be outside in our own yards anymore without being paranoid. And when they rob your house, they don't just want to steal - they want to rape, brutalize and torture. Sometimes I feel like I live in hell. And BBC you should do a documentary on how rampant child abuse, trafficking and rape is...that too is another reason I think this country is hell. It's too demonic what's happening here.

@@MrRobertzingelaNo. When there was apartheid, there was still cultural values. Behaving like this is not part of the African culture. This violence and brutality is not because of apartheid. Most people in South Africa haven't experienced apartheid. We have a young population. You can't blame the white man for everything. We have a young population. The children born when apartheid ended are now 30 years ago. They don't know apartheid at all. Single mothers and drinking and drugs came after apartheid. It's not poverty driving this. People were poor during apartheid but they weren't so brutal. And everyone forgets the political violence before the first election in 1994. The ANC and IFP were killing each other left right and centre fighting for power. That wasn't inequality and that wasn't because of apartheid. Blaming everything on apartheid is not working anymore.

Apartheid is the key reason behind the large inequalities in South Africa. Inadequate responses to the conditions it created has further prolonged the poverty and inequalities. Remember white South Africans paid no reparations after '94, state intervention in the African communities has primarily been through welfare and basic services. The white economy was never restructured, only privatized.

When the educated government minister steals money through tenderpreneurship, that's OK, it's not his fault, it's apartheid's. Come now, the ANC have had 30 years, and the crime rate is worse than it has ever been. Do you honestly think that if every white person up and left SA and left everything thing they have to the current regime, there would be some ANC-led Utopia? Only a fool would think that.

No one political party can turn things around - we need more community action, coordination with effective leaders, and determination. As a young man growing up in Congo 🇨🇬 I’ve always looked at SA as a sort of an African success story. But it’s sad to see how this amazing country keeps plugging into chaos.

The high violent crime and murder rates in South Africa is not the natural state of a traditional African society. We are witnessing the adverse consequences of the interference in the continent by external influences. To pursue harmony and respect for others was the traditional way of the African. In traditional Africa, committing a crime was a thing of shame.

@RoeJogan-gs1dx Shaka is just one person. Also, one group is not representative of the whole. Africans were sociologially more advanced than most, having had the greatest amount of time to evolve, and with indigenous philosophies like Ubuntu and others similar to it across the continent.

I went to Capetown last year of November 2023 thru company sponsorship. Living there for 3 months. A lively city with kind and peace loving people. I'm gay Filipino/Asian, and I felt safe and free. Got mesmerized by a guy with green eyes. He's 6 ft in height and darkhaired. We're still friend until this time.
