Geode Hunting in Payson Arizona

Come along as we figure out how to geode hunt in Payson, AZ. We had a magical day finding geodes and then having them cut open at a rock shop! Come along for some fun on our Arizona vacation.
Directions we followed to geode hunt:
Payson, AZ
Take the nf-64 forest road east past the Verde Glen Campground (nf-199 splits there). Go about a mile and pull over on nf-64. Geodes all over the place.

It was nice to go to the shop to cut them open. That made it a special memory and provided some nice keepsakes for us.

"The Alaskan Geodes Hunters". Such a fun Adventure. What a find!! And you are right Mark, it is always a great idea to get into God's Nature wherever your at to take a deep breath. So how many did you end up taking home? I loved where you ate lunch. That waterfall such beautiful music for the ear. And Bennett what a great idea to plunge. I bet that water will make your hair grow. Those Cactus were amazing. Love you stopped so we could see. What a great idea to have the Rock Shop open them up. And their Collection is Amazing. I get it would be fun to hang out with the Owner for a hike to find some. We saw a Movie about French Mushroom Hunters. It is amazing to watch People who have a gift to find these God treasures. Such a nugget of Surprise. The Alaskan Boys are amazing.

Apologies l missed this upload. My goodness they are fantastic to look at, are you allowed to take as many as you like? If too many get taken would that deplete the stock in the environment though? What a wonderful day out with the kids that's what living and creating memories is all about. Thanks Mark for all your explanations 👍

I honestly don’t recall. I looked up a few places online and found some directions that way. I think the general area was called geode hill on the topo maps. Hope that helps.

Payson Arizona needs to be wiped off the map when there was a forest fire there I was hoping it would torch the whole damn place......
