It sure is a unique food. There are not many places to buy whole octo tentacles unless you catch your own.

This was a great video!! THere is a Guy Fieri video where he invites a chef from Hawaii to come cook with him. The chef catches an octopus just before his flight to bring with him. He has some pointers about how to prepare the octopus prior to cooking it.

Make sure when cooking, you always coat the entire frying pan, you only did a small area. Cut the Octopus to fit your bun next time, and it seems the best way to catch them is on your tidal flats!

It was entertaining to seem them just for to town devouring the octopus. I guess that’s the benefit of starting them out eating it young.

You got me intrigued and I was doing a lot of reading on (pot style) octo traps after watching this. Somewhere recommended putting gold coins in the pots to lure them with something shiny 😝

Drag a shiny object with a hook on it behind your boat. Also a big sea shell with a hook will work. Google Hawaiian tako lure.

Octo dog too chewy. Massage in rock salt for 1 hour. Slice and place in dehydrator, dry. Then throw in smoker or on BBQ.

What a fantastic idea "Octo-Dog" !!! It kinda reminds me of a Po'Boy Sandwich. But your name is sci-fi. That would be a great idea for a food truck. Gotta say The Alaska Boys never disappoint for Adventure. Now we are All scratching how to make traps. And that is funny because I don't even fish. Is there a surface that suction cups are hard to detach from? It was great seeing All the Boys. Hunter is always a joy to see catch a fish. Bennett jumping in to the thick of it, to pull up his sleeves and get it done, Weston, the Mad Scientist with his fun facts and very observant eyes, drinking it all in, and Mr. Everett, trying to see it all. I have never tried Octopus, but that is something on my list of have to try. Thanks for this Adventure, this vlog has been in the works for Months. Thanks Mark

Overseas they have octopus traps on a commercial scale and trap them for the market, I may need to do some research on what to do better. I think deeper may be better, but pulling up six traps from 300’ deep seems a bit intimidating.

So you don't cut the suction cup things off? My youngest son loved octopus. But it's one thing I just couldn't try. I live in Florida scallops, shrimp, oysters, flounder, sea bass, crab, and I have tried lobster. Lobster isn't my thing. I love seafood in general. Salmon (wild caught not farm raised) is my favorite. When it comes to fish I am picky. I won't eat Talapia. I don't care for farm raised fish. I mean if your going to eat seafood, at least catch it. Scalloping season is almost over. Sadly here by me a young 17 year old girl was in 6 foot of water and a 9 foot shark attacked her. She lost her right leg above the knee. She is a brave young lady. She says as soon as she's healed and given the all clear she will be right back in the ocean. I don't know about Alaska and the sea life, so please watch your sweet sons and yourself. You have a wonderful family. Thank you for sharing your family with us.

I agree about harvesting your own fish. I’m kinda a fish snob and don’t really like to eat fish if it wasn’t harvested by us. Wild caught is the only way to go.
