Gennady Golovkin's Powerful & Intense Training | Full Breakdown

Ойын-сауық

I take a look at Golovkin's training routines and methods during his dominating middleweight run under trainer Abel Sanchez. But also how some of this may have changed under his most recent trainer Johnathon Banks. Enjoy!

I'm actually fairly confident GGG will win this fight. Look at it this way, Canelo has options, GGG is looking at this as redemption before retirement. I am sure the research must have been time consuming but it was well worth the effort, for this is beautiful work🔥 Not only did this video break down the training and work ethic of Kazakh Middleweight Legend "GGG" Gennadiy Gennadyevich Golovkin, it also works as a tribute to the man and his evolution as a fighter. Conventional wisdom should be that the younger and close-to-peak Canelo Alvarez would beat the aging and somewhat washed GGG with relative ease in their rubbermatch next weekend but f*** conventional thinking, for I will be cheering for Golovkin (and trainer Jonathan Banks) to have his long-overdue signature victory in what may be the final in-ring appearance of a Hall of Fame career. Fingers crossed the Boxing Gods are listening🤞

Exactly as you said. When a fighter's style relies on his physical ability in the ring, they will have a 'prime' and naturally wear down as time goes on. Even in the case of an older GGG, he still won the first fight, and drew the second one. Prime to prime, GGG dominates any and all versions of Canelo to come.

Jamie.. great work as always! You finally were able to explain it so that I could understand, the difference that the Gronk style has made in Genade's approach to his fights. So what I saw as an erosion of skill really is a different approach to fighting in certain situations. My biggest concern with Canelo is the 20 plus pounds in weight advantage that SAUL will have. Bivol had a great fight plan to beat Alvarez and hopefully Golovkin will do the same. I have great hope for this fight but I hope the security team has been notified not to grant entry to Adelaide Byrd!!!! Keep up the Fantastic work Jamie.

a very good example of a pressure fighter like GGG who also utilizes a fantastic rhythm is Roman Gonzalez. Chocolatito marches forward pressure fighting whilst also incorporating his head movement, parry's, slips, and footwork to his unique rhythm. GGG can be seen using similar methods but his fluidity is not as sensational as Chocolatitos. its that latino heat 😏

Always loved GGG, and not just in the ring, was a total gentleman outside of it, pity his record was blemished with those robberies in the 2 Canelo fights. The first one was a clear win and the second at best was a draw for Canelo. Before i am accused of being a fan boy, i have nothing but love and respect for Canelo. But hey, no true fan takes boxing records on paper to seriously.

FWIW my 2p worth on this, as someone who has boxed and lifted for a long long time, an ardent watcher of boxers (tv and in person) forever and a Golovkin fan. I remember when we first saw clips of him in the UK just as he was starting to gain a fan base in New York. I told my brother to watch out for this guy as he was special. He trains like that machine and has been well coached but I think he’d be special even without any particularly out of the ordinary training: he’s just gifted. Maybe that tough upbringing helped but many who have it hard, dedicate themselves etc can’t get to his level; natural talent. As for coaching, I feel really bad for Sanchez and the way he was treated. Totally undeserved, rudely handled and from all reports as much money based (with Golovkin listening to advisers again, the time honoured boxing story with stars prey to sharks) as staleness. But as he ages and learns new things (esp. that rhythm) it could be really good for him. My only worry being if he becomes too thoughtful and cautious, overthinks and then has to risk all to play catch up. As for S&C I don’t think he benefited from some approaches (v. old hat, inefficient - eg. light weight horizontal presses with a bar; against the direction of force not being the best way to strengthen shoulders and chest (but chest strength etc is so overrated for boxing) and narrow upright rows (dangerous!) - and more stamina based, though that’s fine) but again natural ability and effort trumped all. And all the more useful stuff like the core work more than made up for anything less useful also done, given his recovery ability .Plus he is VERY strong for his size - not only the wrestling ability/training and wrist work but look at his Trap Bar deadlifts, sled lifts and pull-ups. Anyone who can do weighted pull ups on towels and rings even at 170lb body weight is strong! God, I hope he gets his just desserts against Canelo this time, after that 1st fight robbery.

I just want G to win because of his character and mind set.. He never really brags about himself he just aims to get the job done while pleasing an audience! GGG is super legit. GGG. 'Big Drama Show'... More better... "Mexican Style". "Mexican Style" is even better. He proved it. GGG is such an awesome human being.

I kinda miss the marauding style Abel focused on. Admittedly it might not be the best style for longevity though.

Not to minimize anything. This is all well and good. Triple G has an enormous fan base, but it is time that he hangs it up. He cannot compete in the same way he did when he was running through the division. Too many very good youngsters. He has nothing left to prove.

i dont know, ggg was real lucky guy to get a third rematch. he did much better when he was with able. the only thing that i liked about his training was how he didnt do the armadillo mode. thats how he got his face beat up the last time. and it cost him the fight. but how can you say that your still mexican style when your trainer is a black coach. and ggg is incomplete with the mexican style, even if able was his coach. i could have helped ggg much better and complete mexican style training. but its way too late now
