"In this new five-part series, leading scientific figures - Stephen Hawking, Richard Dawkins, James Dyson, David Attenborough, Robert Winston, Paul Nurse, Jim Al-Khalili, Kathy Sykes and Olivia Judson - celebrate the British scientists and inventors who literally created the modern world. The second programme in the series looks at the scientific spark that ignited the Industrial Revolution in Britain. James Dyson tells the story of how a young James Watt was inspired to perfect the steam engine that would change the world forever. Jim Al-Khalili explains how Joseph Priestley, a clergyman with a fascination for gases, discovered the very air we breathe and started a craze for soda water. David Attenborough talks about his hero Joseph Banks, the great naturalist who sailed to the South Seas and founded Kew Gardens on his return. And Robert Winston reveals the extraordinary story of John Hunter, surgeon, anatomist... and body-snatcher."

    "A ship is like a jail...with the added risk of being drowned." o.O I've never thought of it like that. What a wonderful thought.

    @akamola11 The reason I believe is that he had a custom built voice machine that came with an American voice. He got used to it and decided to keep with it.

    That's the thing. It is possible according to math. Consider the size of our ever expanding universe and the chances don't seem so improbable. Not only is there mathematical probability involved but a huge staggering collection of astronomical and biological evidence (please check out wiki for a relatively simple explanation of human evolution). Your genetic combination also beat out amazing odds and made you who you are (a little less amazing, but cool nonetheless).

    @thechessstick Charles Darwin was given a state funeral at Westmisnter Abbey. 50.000 people mourned him on the day he died. He was buried along William Herschel and Isaac Newton (contrary to his wish to be buried beside his daughter). So much for a "not so bright guy", huh?

    @thechessstick Please provide Evidence for creationsim and your sources. Also The Egyptians began recording thier history from about 3200BCE the flood occured about 2500BCE. Why wasnt this global flood recorded by the Egyptians? Why are mammels NEVER found in the same layers of the Pre-Cambrian as primitive animals?

    There are facts pertaining to every subject that exist separate from whether or not we have an understanding of them. We do not believe in everything that cannot be disproved that is ridiculous.

    @wowamonn Jacob Ussher did a good job with setting the date of creation. There are several good books which trace the history of the World using Ussher's time-line. You should get yourself one. You really do show your prejudice when you speak of "primitive" animals. There is no such thing. There is also no such thing as "pre-historic". Imotep was assuredly Joseph. You really need to watch a few Ron Wyatt videos. Also, watching a few A. E. Wilder-Smith lectures would do you some good.

    @thechessstick According to what? Your own personal bias? They're not able to be considered "geniuses" because they don't agree with your world view? Wow. Who made you judge? Oh thats' right, you did.

    @Boogers32150 I am talking about evolutionists and atheists. Not true geniuses. If a person is an atheist or an evolutionist then they are automatically excluded from being considered to be a genius. That is just the fact of the matter.

  • @thechessstick
    @thechessstick13 жыл бұрын

    @Boogers32150 Actually anyone with any sense at all knows that science has nothing to do with evolution. And a person has to be a fool to deny the Creator. Now, Isaac Newton, there is a true genius and a creationist.

    @thechessstick Belittling and insulting some of the smartest people on Earth just shows you're losing your faith. The spark in you're mind has ignited and there is nothing you can do to stop from becoming an atheist. (I went through the same process but I was 7 or 8). You can pray all you want to stop it... hell, I'll even pray for you!

    If I really thought I had the secret to life I would be out there proving it, I wouldn't hide behind wishy washy apologetics. I wouldn't say to everyone I meet who doesn't agree with me that they just can't understand because they have to be conditioned to understand. I have already attempted intensely to understand your religion and many others. They have failed every test for me and many others. What you said is insulting to us thinking people and we will have none of it.

    Without organised religion humans would have been in space 300 years ago. Useless bronze age superstition has held mankind down for too long. We have to end superstition before it ends us.

    @wowamonn You are quite wrong. I did an independent investigation including all of the facts and Creationism wins hands-down. It is no contest. You should do the same. Don't be a sheep. Unless it is towards God, of course.

    Yes, Dawkins is absolutely a coward who will not debate a creationist because he knows he will lose. When I think of the people who consider Dawkins and or Hawkin to be geniuses I just laugh. LOL LOL

    I can see that they have mixed in a few genuine geniuses like Newton with a few pseudo-geniuses like Dawkins, Hawking, Darwin and probably Sagan. Sad, how these pseudo-scientists are included simply because they attack God.
