One of the favourite and most iconic films of my childhood.
Whilst this film does have its inaccuracies, Emperor Commodus really did use to fight opponents and cheatingly wound them before the fight began. In the end, after making several enemies amongst himself, Commodus was assassinated in AD192 by a wrestler in his own bath.

Everyone has their own favorite, and there have been many great movies over the years, but I totally agree with you. The Gladiator is one of the greatest movies of all time. I put it right up there with Saving Private Ryan, Alien, Rocky and The Lambrinth, just to name a few. At least those are some of my all-time favorites.

It's probably my favorite hands down. I used to have a hard time picking a fav. Flight of the Navigator, The Never Ending Story, Armageddon, Mortal Kombat, and Batman (1989). Yet, Gladiator seems to stand out the most, and I wasn't even a big Russell Crowe fan back then. I read a critic say Russell made one of his best performances in the movie, and after watching it several times I can with certainty say, he nailed it.

When I stared at death ☠️(cancer) in the face, I felt as if I wanted to isolate myself in a room and scream at the top of my lungs. But just now I'm finding out that that is what us warriors do when we are about to give it our All (awl) bayonets WHATEVER we have within our reach to defend ourselves. Of course, the double-edged sword, Jesus (Ephesians 6:13) therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand) John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. THEN came bout 2; off flew my other breast; THEN, bout 3; no I did not have three breasts----leukemia cancer of the blood, for good measure🤗 The enemy was inside my body. The temple of God, where He's chosen to live. Hence the scripture; No weapon formed against you shall prosper. And He, being true to His Word, has backed us up, God's troops.

In the darkest times the character of a man will shine.
Movies like this are just not made anymore, what a masterpiece, all we get now days is hot garbage.
Now that I’m almost 40 married and a father of 2 boys , Maximuis purpose and pure motivation hits me way harder now that I could imagine his situation and pain ! Truely a masterpiece!
there was a time in Holywood, they made good movies... a very looooong time a go. This is one of the best of this time ever.
My big son name is Maximus,he's 22 years old now and proud with he's name. I watch the movie more then 200 times and I have Maximus tatto on my hand and on both chest he's horses Scarto and Argento. ❤❤❤

It is such a poignant edit! Maximus was such a powerful role. There is so much to learn from him: the strength of character and resilience, courage, devotion, stoicism, simplicity and most of all ethical leadership! We need leaders like him, who care more about people and their fate, not power, wealth and glory. The contrast with Commodus illustrated this beautifully. There must be more of such inspirational movies.
One of the greatest films ive ever seen period,& im 51 Russle crow has done many great films but this is his finest ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️
I come here now and then to rinse my eyes of the disappointment on TV nowadays. And be reminded that it used to be great and there’s hope. 23yrs later this masterpiece remain glorious to be rewatched over and over again ⚔️

Everything is amazing about this film, the story, the scale, the acting, and the music soundtrack . Just a brilliant package.🙏🏴
When a man sees his end he wants to know there was some purpose for his life.
Dude you captured the soul of this whole movie in just under 9mins.
The greatest film of all time.
I love that half of this video sounds like noise, and the other half is just silent. It's the definition of a warrior, being able to balance each other out. Maximus was a good man that was willing to do evil to see how bad humans are.
Arguably the BEST movie of 2000! Looking forward to Gladiator 2 in 2024.

Truly a masterpiece, Determination. . He had without knowing, bottled up his anger, and spewed it out on his worsest enemy.

To be honest, I don't believe Gladiator needs a sequel as it was a perfect standalone story. I don't know how Ridley Scott's going to top this.

One of the absolute best movies ever made, I can quote it by heart. Not only that, when I saw it as a (relatively) young child it also made me so interested in history (even though it isn't historically correct, but I was a kid so give me a break). Thanks to this movie I can never be bored, because history is endless for a single human.

Can't believe that it's 23 years ago that this epic film came out in the cinema, saw it at the cinema and was struck down by the visual aspect (especially seeing the great city of ancient Rome)

this movie drips with tragedy, like the historian, Victor Davis Hanson’s The Classicist said life is tragic. It’s not a melodrama. I think that’s why this movie is so relatable.

A really good movie and Russell Crowe deserved his Oscar. I liked that the film was as close as possible to history. Marcus Aurelius was indeed thinking about restoring the Republic (he wrote about it). Commodus died in a battle with a gladiator (rumor was that he was the son of a gladiator!). And the gladiators are well presented. Of course there was no Maximus general ....

There was Maximus,Marcus wrote about him in Meditations Book 1 and Commodus was killed by a wrestler.
That was wonderfully put together. My favourite film of all time.❤

I've watched Gladiator many times and have watched several "reaction" videos of it, as well as edited versions of it as well. Yours, I believe, is the best condensed version of the original. Phenomenal job! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

he was the hero of my youth
I loved this movie so much i named my Timberwolf German Shepherd mix Maximus Aurelius the brave. I had him 18 years . Loyalty Proudly he servered as my companion due to a back injury. I trained him using voice commands and hand signals.
This was Exquisite, no other words would suffice.
