Aragorn | Heir of Númenor (LOTR)

Ойын-сауық

"You are Isildur's heir, not Isildur himself"
Aragorn, Son of Arathorn.
The best trilogy ever made in cinema and one not to be replicated any time soon, even after 20 years and technological advancement. Aragorn is one of the best-written characters leading up to becoming king. Like what Jon Snow arguably should've become. I love this trilogy and its world-building and expect to find more Lord of The Rings videos from me here in the future.
I started with Aragorn as he has one of the most complete arcs for a character, and he is one of my favourites in the trilogy (plus Legolas), however, I do like them all a lot. The video primarily focuses on Aragorn's hope. It's interesting that he gives hope to others, but never in himself, knowing the history of Arnor and Gondor, he fears a repeat of history. His lack of thirst for power is what separates him from most in the line of men, whether that is for good or bad use, he is able to succeed in the temptations of the one ring. Frodo carries the weight of the one ring and all its evil, and Aragorn carries the weight of the men. Galadriel really lets this be known. I included a lot of the scenes with Arwen because she appears to him when he is of most need and is never alone throughout the trilogy, only in his life before Frodo and the ring.
A little late, but THANK YOU FOR 15,000 SUBSCRIBERS.

Aragorn is one of my fav characters and had the best arc. Viggo was amazing in this role. I only watch the extended versions of LotR and rewatch it every christmas. I still remember watching the movies in the cinema and it is epic bc of the love and care the trilogy had in production and in the performances. Someday I hope to visit NZ... look forward to your next projects.

Even as mostly a book purist I love Aragorn's arc in the movies. I don't even care that Peter Jackson made Isildur the opposite of his book version (who in the books is the only man ever to NOT be corrupted by the Ring after over a year of using it and he actually dies a tragic death right before returning the Ring to Elrond) just to make Aragorn's arc more compelling and give him more of an inner conflict.

Tolkein wrote The Lord of the Rings post WWII. It was a mirror of what had happened in Europe; the terror, uncertainty, and hopeless. But, he also wanted to give the survivors of the real world hope. That though an age had passed, a new one was coming; perhaps one of many years of peace.

That was absolutely amazing! Aragorn's journey through the LOTR's allows us to ask many questions about our own lives. When faced with adversary, do we faulter and give into fear? Or do we trust in friendships, loved-ones, community, peace and just a fools hope. That the path we're on is noble, true to our values and meaningful - even though things around can feel like they're crashing down. Amazing and important totem for a me in my youth, this needs to be in schools to give these kids hope!

For those that don't know the back story...the numenormians were completely badassas and had their own island made for them by the valar. They lived sometimes to 500 years old and were scary fighters. So much so that even sauron and orcs were terrifed of them. Sauron did not want to go to war against them so he disguised himself and corrupted them from the inside. He spread lies that the valar made them doomed to die while they get to live forever. Many of them believed him and began following sauron and thats when the numenor began to implode.

1:00 Is it me, or does Aragorn actually look a little afraid there? When I watched the movies, I'd always assumed that he hadn't said anything about his ancestry because he didn't want to pull rank and embarrass Boromir or anything.... but watching this edit makes me wonder if the real reason that he didn't say anything about his heritage was that he was afraid of the responsibility, and when Legolas announced in council, he might have been afraid of the expectations and pressure now that his cover was blown. Now that I actually put that down, it doesn't sound all that novel, since they set it up the whole movie, but I hadn't fully realized how afraid Aragorn was of the responsibility and pressure of being the Heir of Numenor.
